No commentary walkthrough whilst docked at Mindelo where the authorities said we could not disembark as we had no proof of having been vaccinated for Yellow Fever having just come from Brazil. However we were then told we could get off hence the ship was quiet.

Ah, the lovely Nina, who worked with Eric and Ernie several times. This was from the first BBC Morecambe and Wise Christmas show in 1969. They began to take real shape the following year, set the standard in 1971 and built every year until 1977, when 28.75 million watched them.

My god, it's hard to believe that is 53 years ago. A forgotten little Christmas song from a classic Bond movie. I really can't understand why it's not played every Christmas time.
I certainly play it every Christmas and I have heard it on local radio a couple of times.

A forgotten Christmas masterpiece
The chase on the crowded ice rink and then through the snow is so exciting, among innocent people skating to this song on Christmas Eve. Had a profound effect on me as a child.

Nina Van Pallandt is such an interesting woman with an incredible career - especially her work in Robert Altmans landmark films. Such a beautiful and talented artist.
You're right. Interesting fact: She was a quite popular singer in my home country Germany in the late 1950s and early 1960s alongside with her husband at that time.

It's actually sung live. Even the children sing live. A rare thing nowadays. Great song of a great movie.

@@thomsboys77 I know almost none of these old tv performances were sung live. However it doesn't sound exactly like the recording, and seems more how it would sound on that set instead of a recording booth. So maybe it's a recording but from earlier that day on the set.

Right. It's a beautiful christmas song but it also has got that special John Barry/James Bond feel.
The innocence of the children's voices set against Bond and Tracy running for their lives is damn clever.
Sorry its four years late but yes exactly that, it is the juxtaposition of a happy innnocent christmas song at a time of great joy ie Christmas with extreme menace and violence that sets OHMSS apart from all the rest. Best film of the best book. Bond how it was intended.
