Never never use a drill to mix grout ever You're addi g lots of unwanted air into the mix. Also make little hole everywhere from air bubbles, I'm sure you've already figured that out.
Question…..I have 1 foot x 2 foot porcelain tiles on my shower walls. Wouldn’t it be better to use unsanded grout so as not to scratch tile? The joints are 1/8 inch. Thanks
I'm in the middle of a DIY shower, i did and sheet waterproofing system but was thinking about doing a laticrete hydro ban on top. belt and suspenders approach. You're the first video I can find of someone doing it. How did it turn out? Any issues? Thank you for taking the time
I've been a tile contractor for more than 20 years and grouting shouldn't be done by an inexperienced person, you can literally ruin a perfect tile job by grouting it badly, also there are times the grouting doesn't do what it's supposed to, like if humidity is high or you use too much water to sponge it, leaving haze over the joints will leave different color areas and not to mention the grout has to be pushed in around the joints without leaving voids, just because you could do something doesn't mean you should...
You will not make it in a real grouting job for a company. I’m sorry but this is not how you grout you get a brand new sponge every time u clean lol you tripping
Can I just use pre mixed grout? I grouted once years ago and it came out good but it was a kitchen new backsplash. Now I need to grout bathroom tiles. It’s moldy ….
My bathroom tile and sealer area get moldy easily so I think it’s time to clean and then re-grout. Can you show us how to seal a between bath tub and tile ?
yes also make a video about grout sealing This video was very informative, what should I Grout first in a total bathroom renovation? First the floor, or first the walls and why this order? And what about the corners of the room, should they be grouted or with a silicone
Shits gonna crack right out of the corner, the ceiling, the floor joints. Silicone or sanded caulk at every change of plane. Don't be lazy. You're asking for moisture to get in there.
I've heard some horror stories about Ultracolor setting up really quickly and being impossible to remove from the surfaces of the tiles. Not sure I'd want to go with that for a DIYer that isn't really comfortable with grouting.
Thank you for this very informative video. So many videos out there that conflicts what others say. This is hands down and one of the best grouting video I watched.
Do not use grout in corner joints. Sanded caulk should be used there. Also helps having two buckets. One with clean water and one to rinse dirty sponge in
you must mix this grout exactly 3.5 oz of water to 1 lb of powder !!!! i did the consistency of peanut butter. know cutting it all out and having to redoing it all over (shit show)
What was wrong. When using small batches of mapei fa you can use 3:1 ratio of powder to water. It doesn't have to be exact. But you can't use too much water for the washing process. Peanut butter consistency seems perfect for mapei UC fa
Like i said I'm currently cutting all my grout out right know it is just a horrific job I grouted and let it sit for 2 weeks turn on the shower and it bled black it seeem as soon as it got wet it turn back to mud talked to Mapel representative told me i mixed it wrong but give me a free bag of grout big fucken deal
@@mikeheggie6986 must've had too much water during the wash. Especially if ur consistency was peanut butter it seems like the ratio was right. Did you re add water to the mix at any point during the application
I want to know how you waterproofed the transition between that tub that is meant for premanufactured walls and doesn't have a flange. That tub is not meant to be waterproofed in any way other than by using the wall panels that came with it.
It doesn’t “need” one because it has polymers in it which are stain resistant, but….it is still a cement based grout which is porous and I have seen it stain. So sealing it especially in showers in areas with hard water is never a bad idea.
Bro! Soo funny! When I’m doing tile work(especially showers) I listen to the same, right before I lose my shit. I swear my brain hurts more than my body after doing tile work

Take a bowl, make a hole on its side, and tape a shop vac hose through it, then scrape away.

Rapid setting grout is not best for the beginner
Thanks ! Really helped me.
Superb job👌
No such thing as pay gap based solely on men and women.
Not filling the grout joint completely
Black Grout???? No Thanks
Don't grout corners or wherever your planes change if you dont want cracks. This is where silicone caulk goes.
All good stuff, but the highly repetitive background music was too distracting to continue, sorry!
Great tip, what type of grout sealer do I need to seal it with, please advise, I'm based in uk
This type of grout requires no sealer
Yes provide video on how to seal
Why you don’t wearing dust mask protection ?
Really helpful! Thank you! Yes, I'd like to see a video on sealing the grout.
can you go even lower than that? I am looking to do an almost curbless shower

Shut up
You do not need to seal the FA grout. It has a sealer built in.
saving this technique nice job
#banblackgrout lol great video

This is the best video I found for a beginner like me. Your tips are very helpful and to the point. Thank you!
Yes do a quick and easy way to seal grout, please
Excellent video, very helpful. But please consider turning the phone sideways - video should NEVER be shot vertical! Just sayin'... ;)
Great video are these all the same principles as grouting exterior porcelain tiles on a patio? And which mapei grout would be best for outdoor use?
Great. Can u recommend me a pre mixed grout ?
Can I just use pre mixed grout? I grouted once years ago and it came out good but it was a kitchen new backsplash. Now I need to grout bathroom tiles. It’s moldy ….
You can't use premix on bathrooms. Check the spec sheet. It's not meant to be used on waterproofed walls.
My bathroom tile and sealer area get moldy easily so I think it’s time to clean and then re-grout. Can you show us how to seal a between bath tub and tile ?
Hi. This is very helpful. This will be my first time trying to re-grout. Did you make a video on how to seal? Thanks
Shame about the racket in the background

Drill mixing increases drying time, manufacture says to mix by hand to give you more time to finish correctly.
First time grouting, this did it for me, excellent video that showed me how. Thanks
I thought this was a no seal grout
Hopefully the protective plastic is still on the tub😮

First time grouter - used Ultracolor + FA today. No issues. Used cold water and hand mixed for 3 mins.

Seems a bit on the wet side and quite a bit of water used during cleanup. Pretty sure those joints are gonna be softer than it should

It does have a flange
You should se how we do grout in Poland, You could learn something. Looks ok in the video but it's not the best way my Friend.
Great video! Just a FYI though, that grout you used doesn’t need a sealer.
