I'm all about woodworking. I enjoy feedback, and encourage questions! My older content focused on Polaroid cameras, and I leave it up because it still helps people (I'm still here for those questions as well), but I won't be making any new camera related content.
Save Time with this DIY Spoon/Bowl and Curved Surface Sander
Save your fingers, and A LOT of time by making this DIY spoon/bowl/curved surface tool (cutting board handles, furniture, etc). This tutorial will illustrate all the steps to create the spindle. Although I use a drill press, you could also complete this tutorial using an electric hand drill/driver or 1/4" flex shaft rotary tool.
The velcro hook and sandpaper loop portions can be cut by hand with a sharp utility knife/Xacto knife, but I have access to a laser so I used that. It takes around 40 seconds to cut one template with the laser. The templates are available in my Etsy shop (linked below). I also included the links to the hook discs, loop sandpaper, and laser.

Note: In the tutorial I started with a 1.75" (44.5mm) diameter cylinder, but after sanding it ends up being approximately 1.625" (41.5mm).

Shop Tour Update (Post Renovation) 2023
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
I completed a near total renovation of my woodshop, and wanted to share the results with you all as an update to my previous video. I discuss tool placement, organization, and other considerations when setting up a small shop. Although, some of these practices could be employed no matter the size of your space. There are some things I omitted from the video just to save on time. I'm a big fan o...
Festool CT Mini - Hose Garage Swap and Update
มุมมอง 2Kปีที่แล้ว
The hose garage (the upper black plastic portion) on the older Festool extractors is notoriously brittle and easily destroyed. CONTRACTOR'S SAW: DUST COLLECTION UPGRADE

I researched many options to upgrade my new (new to me) contractor's table saw. Dust collection is a must, and the best solution I found was presented by Dan Pattison. Link to Dan's channel: th-cam.com/users/DPShopTalk I was unable to use his measurements and template, but the concepts he presented were easily adaptable to my saw. VERMICOMPOST! Composting with worms (warm climates) in your garden beds/soil
มุมมอง 3173 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I share my experience and things to consider for a successful vermicompost setup. SMALL (175 SQ FT) WOODWORKING SHOP TOUR

Harbor Freight Central Machinery Belt & Disc Sander Review and Fix

Overall, not a bad little sander once you make one quick and easy modification. Sorry about the hand-held video. My space is limited right now. We plan to remedy that soon. SX70 SLR680 Film door swap. Fixing the "Divot" on Impossible Films
มุมมอง 4.3K12 ปีที่แล้ว
Do your impossible images have a small undeveloped patch at the top? Are you using a SLR680? If so, then you may want to try this to solve the problem. Polaroid vs. Fuji. The Fuji film can jam for the first few shots in a Polaroid camera
มุมมอง 6K13 ปีที่แล้ว
Using Fuji film in polaroid cameras can be tricky. The Fuji film packs are slightly thicker, which sometimes makes the film stick and/or come apart inside the camera. To avoid this problem, you can switch the top of the fuji film pack with a polaroid top. This will make the pack more slim, and also allow the metal spring inside the camera back to seat properly.
Polaroid Camera Pick Arm Adjustment (all integral cameras)

This video illustrates the process of adjusting the pick arm (used for ejection). It applies to all integral cameras (sx-70, 600, spectra, impulse, etc.). if the camera seems to be working properly (makes the ejection noises), but wont eject the photos, then try this. remember to adjust the arm a little at a time, and continually check the arm as you go (using the pack of used film as seen in t...

Unfortunately the template files are no longer available on Etsy
@@gregoryvpencheff3091 I appreciate you letting me know. Etsy is horrible to work with. Sometimes they will delist things and not notify me. I can put them back up.
IT WORKS! NICE JOB! I just recently bought a Rigid 12", dual bevel, sliding compound mitre saw. I was planning just to roll my bench out of the garage every time I needed to use it, but that doesn't work when it rains, so I figured I needed to find a way to mitigate the dust issue. After watching MANY videos of people building boxes, or suction, or 3D printing things, I found THIS video. Went out to the garage, got my dust chute off the saw, took the shroud off of the chute and traced it on paper, lengthened everything on the paper as you did. Then I went to Harbor Freight and bought a roll of rubber drawer liner. I used the template to cut out a new shroud from the drawer liner, attached it to the chute, replaced the chute, and it worked like magic the first time. The second time however, it got sucked into the blade. I was back to square 1... so I thought. But then, I took some black gaffer's tape and applied it to the backside of the torn shroud which both repaired it and stabilized it, and now it works like a charm. I'm probably going to create a new one that will be just a tad larger, and more stable, and I might try to further stabilize it using some coat hanger or wire taped into the back of it. At any rate, thank you for the excellent simple solution. IT WORKS!
@@TheRosstaman Hey! This comment makes me so happy. I love it when people take something and make it their own and improve upon it. The gaffers tape is a great idea! Thanks for sharing your progress. Have fun and good luck!
That is brilliant very clever thanks I have often wondered how I could get over that particular problem many thanks Keith
@@keithdavison5578 Thanks! I hope it helps
Thank you for a great video. I have the same size shop. Seems it’s always changing with some new storage idea. Thats what makes this fun. I have struggled with where to put the 1632 drum sander and like your idea, however, I am a little older than you and not sure I want to be bending over that much! Also have been looking at the Onefinity with the wall mount as well! Very well thought out shop!
@@ArtDingoWoodworks Thanks so much! Ya, having the sander down there isn’t ideal. I’m sure I’ll probably want to figure out an alternative at some point. You’re totally right about the shop evolving. Even now I find myself making changes. Most of the large tools stay put but there’s always room for improvement!
Found this video while trying to fix my camera and it took me a few tries, but it worked!! I'm so happy and relieved! Thanks so much :)
Tried this on a supercolour 635 I picked up in a charity shop (clicking and whirring whenever i loaded new film but no darkslide/photo) and now it works!! Thank you for this video
@@yuen-wahwilliams2096 I’m so glad you were able to get it working! Have fun with it!
Wow! Wish I could get half that organized! Color me impressed! Happened to notice the router table set into the bench or counter to the left of the miter saw. Interesting idea. Any issues or suggestions? How well has that worked?
@@joedance14 Hey, thanks! It was a labor of love. Ended up taking me a lot longer than I anticipated but totally worth it in the end. In hindsight the router would be better off at my table saw the way people traditionally do them. It works fine but I can’t run anything longer than 4ft due to the wall. I’ll probably end up moving it someday but for now I just use my handheld for longer runs.
@@QUARTERSAWN Thanks!
I wish I had gotten one of those. I have a contractor's saw I got for $250.00 but it's an old Rockwell model 9 (9" blades) and while not impossible to find, there certainly aren't as many options for blades as there is with a 10" model. Also, the Rockwell's blade covers almost the entire length of its throat plate so there's no room to add either a riving knife or a splitter. I might make a fence cover that I can mount a set of board buddies to as that will offer protection against kickback. On the other hand, its upper box is enclosed pretty well except for the back where the motor hangs, so I should be able to rig up something similar to what you've built.
Great Shop, refreshing change from the sterile shops on TH-cam that don't even look like work gets done in them.
@@darrenjames9422 Thanks! I really appreciate it. Lol, I know what you mean.
Your logic in organizing your shop matches my thoughts so perfectly. The space flows better than any small shop I have seen. I too have a small area to work in. I will definitely be taking some ideas from this tour. Thank you for doing a video on it. Happy building.
@@thewestendwoodworker Hey! Sorry for the delayed reply. I really appreciate the compliment and I’m glad the video could be of some help. Good luck with your shop!
What about just building a box completely around the motor and encase all the moving parts in a box. Is that possible if the motor is sesled?
I think that could work. You’d want to periodically remove it to check that sawdust isn’t building up on the pulleys and/or motor. Additionally, I don’t make beveled cuts on my saw often but when I do the MDF back plate must be removed. A box might allow clearance for both scenarios but I haven’t tested it.
Thank you for the great video! I just did the same to my older MIDI and this video gave me the insight needed!
Awesome! Glad it helped out
Primo utilization well thought out

Haha! Yup. Still kickin, and 14 years older. I still shoot Polaroid once in a while, but doing more woodworking these days.
Fun tour, covered a lot of ground there. The work bench table you made really looks good.
Thanks so much! I tried my best to keep it short and sweet. The workbench is honestly my favorite part of the renovation!
Hate to say it this way but it really seems versatile @@QUARTERSAWN . I would rather just say it is cool, very cool. Great video!
Thank you for this video, I’ve just done exactly the same thing
Great to hear!

I would have just swapped the black part on topwith the first 4 screws
I linked both parts in the description (and also added notes to the video), so you can make that choice for yourself. I don’t expect everyone to make the same choice as me.
Wow I'm shocked your shop on the plans is only 20ft long. it looks so long. Finally I found a youtube that lives in the real world, working out of a space that us everyday people can afford. Your use of space is brill👍 I am going to convert my detached garage into a wood shop and I was worried that my 15ft 6 x 18ft was tiny compared to everyone on TH-cam. But now I've seen yours and how you have utilised your space has given me hope. Thanks👍 You have another subsciber
Hey! Thanks for watching and I appreciate the kind words. Btw, I posted an update to this video earlier this year (This one is almost 3 years old). You can see all the things I kept and what changed. Your space sounds great! I would be happy to trade a couple feet in length for more in width. Good luck with your shop!
Thanks for this. I have pretty much the same model of Delta Contractor Saw. Where your saw has sides, mine does not. That's not a show stopper,. In fact I figure it'll be easier than the more complicated rear of the saw because I can fix the sides in place more permanently. Seeing what you've done and how you've done it on a saw very much like mine is very useful.
I wish mine were that way. Would’ve been so much easier. Plus, I have to take the panels off when I want to do miter cuts which isn’t often, but still. Good luck and enjoy the saw!
Do a video on what type of things you can accomplish with that cnc machine. I’m a bit old school and have no idea what you all use them for
Great idea! I’ll work on a new video for that. I use it for a lot of things from template making to slab flattening, 3D carving, and mass production of parts.
Laser. Yup.
The laser is an awesome tool in general, and great for this but you definitely don’t need one. My original prototypes were cut with a utility knife.
Good video
Thank you!
Great video! Is that an old Rockwell drill press?
Thanks! It's old for sure (1978). It was distributed by a company called "Transpower" out of El Monte California, which I doubt are still in business. I assume they had it made by a large manufacturer. Could very well have been made with Rockwell parts
Wow man! That’s impressive!
Thanks so much!
Can you take aura photos with this camera? I saw some people on Reddit mention this. Lmk!
very well thought out space, good job
Thank you!
Thank you. Amazing shop. It’s interesting seeing what has and hasn’t worked or you’ve selected carefully. Easy to go to Rockler/Woodcraft and come home with stuff we don’t really need. Love the outfeed MFT and the dust collection the most. Wanted a closer look of the slide out caddy sideway boxes under the left of miter saw. Like drawers but open and you don’t pile stuff behind stuff on an open shelf.
Hey! Thanks so much! Ya, I’ve kind of evolved my workspace to fit the type of work I do so I know it may not work for everyone but at least I hope some of the ideas will help people. Those drawers are one the first things I made and I’d probably keep the same concept but do them a little different now. If you want to see a closer look, I showed them briefly in my fist shop tour video that I posted to my channel in 2020
@@QUARTERSAWNWatched. Seeing the evolution of the shop is very impressive. I think we all have that point we get to and want to fix it. All those things that should work one way but we compromise until we get around to them.
Good use of space…it can be done

I’m glad it could help!
Very cool! And actually smaller than I thought it was from the usual IG content. 👏🤘
Thanks! Ya, I don’t generally show overviews on IG. Not much to show! Lol
A lot of great ideas here! I'm in the middle of redoing my shop & you've given me a few things to rethink!!!
Glad to hear it. Good luck with your reno!
My thousand square feet feels absolutely luxurious now 😂
I’d kill to double it and have 400 sqft, but if I added onto the shop before giving my wife a master bathroom, I think she’d probably kill me 😂
Packed with so much stuff. Impressive. I like that you have a home for everything, makes it so much nicer to work so you aren't spending minutes searching for things. I need to do some work in that department!
It really does make a difference! One of my favorite things (that I don't mention in the video) is that I added power so that all tools are plugged in. Before, I was stuck running extension cords all over the place and would occasionally trip the breaker. Now I don't have any issues!
Hey, nice shop! I ended up here from ig. I am looking forward to checking out more of your content on yt.
Hey! Thanks for checking out. I'll see you around
So impressive what you’ve done with a small space, truly changes my perspective on what I need in our new house for my shop space. I love how you have a place for everything, and also seeing how you used verticality, not just walls but storing tools under other tools is brilliant. Great video man, and great shop!! 🫡
Thanks David! I'm glad you found it helpful. I'll be looking forward to seeing your space! Keep up the great work!
Thank you !!! Just received replacement kit … will install tomorrow !!
That’s great! Good luck with the swap!
Excellent! You saved my bacon and I have just finished installing the new parts/upgrade following your fine video. Thanks!!
That’s awesome! I’m glad I could help and you were able to make the upgrade
Hey, we have the same table saw. Or used to. You have been smart and upgraded. I too want to upgrade mine, but I bought it for the same reasons. Mobile, decent rip capacity, and the arbor is long enough for a dado stack.
Sorry I missed your comment. Sometimes YT doesn’t notify me. The Ridgid was a great saw, especially when starting out. I do enjoy my Delta though. If you can find a decent one used that’s the way to go!
@@QUARTERSAWN ha, and in that time we've both gone through upgrades!
@@keatonbeyerwoodworking How are you liking the Grizzly?
@@QUARTERSAWN it's awesome. As far as cabinet saws go I don't have much to compare it to but the upgrade to 3hp was a good choice. It doesn't bog down even with 8/4 hardwoods and the accuracy is a huge improvement. That old job site saw was pretty finicky to adjust and get accurate results with, even with things like grooves for drawer bottoms. The throat flexed so much it would leave a wavy bottom
Thank you so much for sharing this video! It has helped me fix my Polaroid SLR 680's ejection issue. Now, I need to figure out why it doesn't "lock" shut on the right (viewed from the front) side when closed. 🥲
Oh man... I spoke too soon. It was ejecting properly after bending the pick, but now it's not ejecting consistently anymore. It's having trouble with ejecting the dark slide now. When it does eject, it comes out above the shield door 😮💨. I'm back to having issues with the ejection mechanism 😢.
I have never experienced that with any of my cameras. I'm sorry you experienced this. Maybe try to bend back the other way slightly and check as you go.
so this did fix it but now it’s ejecting multiple photos at once :/ what do I do?
Sounds like you might have bent it too far. Try bending it back the other way. Test after each bend to check
Beautiful project😍
Thank you!
I really enjoyed your shop tour. I’ve been watching YT videos for years on shops, I’ve never been compelled to sign in to YT and leave a comment, your drive to work in such a small space is refreshing. Love the background tunes as well. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. It means a lot to me! I really appreciate your kind words regarding me/my shop and the video. Since this video/tour I’ve acquired quite a few new tools, and completely tore my shop apart to start over again. I’m nearing the completion of the renovation now and plan to create a new tour as an update. Have a good one!
