Excellent comparison with the layering found in music! I play a few instruments and have a great love of music, many styles, including both rock and classical (though I don't get into the baroque period as much as more "recent" styles like Beethoven, Holst and even as new as Ennio Morricone). So much music across so many styles begins with the foundation of a strong bass upon which the main melody (or highlights and emphasis if I was thinking fireworks) is laid. Everything eventually building to the crescendo (or finale) that leaves the audience wide eyed and breathless. Many of the other viewers have commented about building segments into their shows based on single effects. I tend to be fairly literal reading and writing comments because I can't hear/use people's tone of voice to infer their moods. So when someone says "...my Brocade segment" I imagine a portion of show with nothing but brocades. The layering concept makes so much more sense to me. I would no more script a section of show with only brocades than I would write a symphony with only woodwinds. Thanks for the reference! That really clarifies how you can move through a creative process in your show building. P.S. If you're interested in hearing a fantastic example of building crescendo in music, check out the song "Glosoli" by the band Sigur Ros. The lyrics are in Icelandic so let the video imagery tell the story but you might find it interesting.🙂

@@VermontPyroBoys802 Much like my pool of talent at fusing, the same is true with my musical talent - that is to say none/zilch/nada. But I do have an ear, and a strong appreciation of tones and composition. Though I also have a broad palate when it comes to music (except for opera), I have a soft spot for the baroque period and in particular the concerto grosso. When you get your firing system you can start to experiment with show composition much differently than what you can accomplish with just fusing. Though I don't believe your system will support scripting, you can still compose through step firing your cues. Maybe try blending some fountains, saturn missile batteries, and 200 gram cakes to start. And by all means - have fun doing it! There's a lot of serendipity involved - and to be appreciated!

Absolutely Ryan! I talked a bit about the effects being squeezed together, fitting that all into the fast pace really made for a great, exciting cake.👍👍

@ yea brother definitely man and it’s cold out I need demos done so I gotta brace tie cold I might do some demos I have 20 I gotta do so I’m trying to bang those out tonight or tomorrow and I have a pro update so I’m trying to figure out what I’m gonna do for us. I’m trying to get these dimmers out first and then the pro update.

Glad you liked it! I actually had recorded a different commentary where I talked more about cracking palms but decided it was too long. Interestingly enough, both of the other two crackling palm cakes I referenced (Air Hockey Hero and Road and Roll, both by Winda) are parts of sets and not available in cases on their own. One of these days, when there's time to talk, I'd like to hear how you organize your shows. I think I could learn quite a bit from your process.

Yeah man. When I get back down to Hookset, I'm probably gonna have to balance everything between Pyro Demon and Pyro Diablo. They're both such impressive brands.

I agree 💯! The faster pacing really made this cake exciting! That paired with a really cool mix of effects made this a great cake. Ten outta ten!

Fascinating, you're the first person to choose the Hydras. Criteria was definitely the color red! One thing I found interesting about those shells in particular is that one of them is actually labeled as orange. I had difficulty finding enough red cans in the kit so I chose that one to have three, figuring that it would still work well.

Hell yeah! Hands down my favorite Slayer tune (second place is a tie between Angel of Death and Seasons in the Abyss)! Yessir as well, all four kits were so good I really had a hard time choosing. If it weren't for that flying fish shell I'd have really been torn.

@@pyrobinks6677 Those are some really great shells too! A lot of others have said the same in the other comments. I've still got the white and blue packs in my stash too. Seeing as I demoed all three together back in the spring, I'll have to think of something fun for those 😀

I thought you'd be excited to see this one!😃 Yes, I can see how it performed like a "classic cake". Not sure why sales wouldn't propell it to that level as it seems like a very versatile cake. This is definitely a cake that I'd love to shoot multiples of, provided I could find it for a better price. Definitely gonna keep an eye out for it the next time I get to NH.

@@VermontPyroBoys802 Reflecting back, I have to correct myself and say that I did actually see this cake for sale once - and only once. About 4 years ago, I found 1 example for sale in a Myrtle Beach fireworks store for the ungodly price of $39.95. Waaaay toooo expensive, so I passed on it. Haven't seen it since. World Class doesn't get carried much around here, so my hopes are not high that it will ever come off my "unicorn list".

@dennisblazey3315 World Class is the main brand that the year-round store here in VT carries. It's a little funny because as a brand overall, I feel like the products are just okay. I definitely still buy and shoot WC as it's conveniently available but I've always been more impressed with Winda, SFX and the other brands I can get when the tent is back open.

Yes, I've seen the 6 packs of the Diablos. Honestly, I rarely buy 6 packs of cannisters because I feel like the price per shell is so much higher than getting a whole kit. (There are still some specialty 6 packs on my list though, Rainfire, Donut Shells, I've shot Scatter Bombs but would love to do a demo!) I would absolutely recommend trying out Neon Beef sometime. I've gone through two kits so far and they are consistently great.

All four kits are pretty good. A lot of people liked the JTF the best. Man, it was just so hard to decide!

It did pretty good for such a small cake for sure. Definitely no Cliffhanger though 😂!

Yes sir, sometimes the questions I ask really answer themselves. I'd love to space four or five of these out across the field and create a "wall of brocades" then maybe put some bigger, colored breaks over the top.

Agreed, though I do like single effect 500gs when they have a lower shot count. It's kind of a balancing act for me. I love multiple effect cakes but there has to be a good duration to fit them in too.

It's a good little party starter. It was the first cake I sent up during that shoot (and coincidentally the last one to get posted from that night) and it really grabbed my audiences attention.

It was really fun. I'd love to send up a bunch of these all spaced apart and fill the sky with brocades, maybe with some color breaks set up in between.

@@dennisblazey3315 Thanks again! Yes, the more I watched the replay as I was editing, the more I liked the JTF shells. I still have the White and Blue boxes of those too and will probably use them in another comparison sometime. I'm glad the fusing worked out well. I actually have another cannister comparison in my back stock in which I got too complicated and my plan didn't really work. Not sure when I'll post it though. I am indeed getting a firing system for Christmas this year, the Pyro Boom P12. I like the Ignite too but I need my phone for recording and would have to get either a second phone, a better phone for my wife or an independent camera. JTF are definitely some awesome shells! I really love the set and still have the blue and white boxes to put up in other videos. If you've ever noticed the shells going up rapid fire at the end of the musical outro I close each video with, those are JTF too 😃👍

The BCs are really great shells. I only grabbed one box of them before they sold out. Now I'm almost hoarding them! I've got three shells left and I really want to save them for something special.😂

I've been thinking that red is a pretty easy comparison to do. I tried setting up another one but couldn't find enough cannisters of a single color in my stash. Suffice to say, this one was great. I was very happy with how the fusing worked out too. There's another can comparison coming sometime when I got too complicated and the timing didn't work out...

Great choice, I really like those cans! I've still got a blue box and a white box of those to use sometime. Fun sidebar, the shells going up rapid fire at the end of the musical outro are all three colors of JTF fused in R,W,B order.

Neon Beef is such a great kit! I've gone through a couple of them but I've split them all up. I'm gonna have to do a full kit demo for those sometime. Just gotta pick up another one 😂

Thanks Josh. I think red was a good one to start with as a lot of companies make them. I was looking for other colors I can do but it'll be a challenge to find 10 or 12 cans that are similar with what's in my stash right now.

Wow, that's cool! I would love to hear more about the fireworks scene in Ecuador! So glad that my video was able to help too. I paid $20 at a store in New Hampshire but prices can vary a lot depending on what state you're in. New Hampshire is very popular because it's one of the least expensive states to buy fireworks (there's no sales tax there). During the summers, I work part time for the seasonal fireworks tent that's close to where I live in the northwest corner of Vermont to help pay for my hobby. I imagine they would probably charge $30 or $40 for the kit.

@@VermontPyroBoys802 Nice, good to know I am not being overcharged here, haha. It does happen of course, some items here are priced 2 or 3 times higher than in other countries. Though, if you find the right places to buy, prices are quite reasonable overall. Fireworks can be purchased and used year-round here. Mostly used for birthday parties, town celebrations, christmas and newyears. Most tend to buy cakes, fountains and some firecrackers / novelty items for the kids. Which means it can be hard to find other types of fireworks such as reloadable shell kits and good rockets. At least, when it comes to imported, factory-made fireworks that is. There are also the artesenal fireworks which are most used during town/religious celebrations and boy do they know how to make good salute rockets. The artesans are also pretty skilled at lancework for their "castillos" and "vacas locas".

Yes, I can see how the crackle was illuminating the smoke and took away from the color. You can see how the smoke was coming right at me for a large part of the performance but I didn't want to move because I thought I'd miss the angled tubes. The night I recorded this, we shot a few fountains and Younger Popcorn definitely had better colors than the ones before it. I also agree that too many fountains try to impress with way too much crackle! Though I must confess that my very favorite fountain is the Silver Crackling Dragon, my other top picks (Silent Mode and Overload Burger) both focus more on other effects.

Though I don't take fountains out when I'm shooting aerial items, I always keep a stash on hand for evenings with the boys at home. They're the biggest things I can get away with shooting in my backyard.😀
