But you can get the same mahcine like identical and it run different maybe hotter or colder so you got to run it on a peice of scrap to get it dialed in.
@dewayne2189 correct each machine will be slightly different. always a good idea to play around with a test scrap first.
Those are really good machines the syncrowave 250, thats what i started out learning on once you get the settings right they weld really good and nice welds , shiney welds . Fuck a welder thats air cooled sometimes you got to use them but what you got is were its at all day !
@dewayne2189 yeah these old school machines run great and no computer boards to fail on you.
Cool build. I'm always learning from your videos. I believe this is the third spot you've set your lift up at. Do you check the depth of the concrete before set up? What's your take on this? I believe I have 3" concrete in my barn and wanted to know what you think. Thanks!
@bigdaddyweav71 thanks for the comment! this is the lifts 4th home actually haha. 4inch concrete depth is minimum requirement for this one. quality anchor bolts and the adhesive make for a pretty strong hold. you can check out this most recent garage build series I got through the lift install a bit. 3 in is likely a bit thin. I would drill a test hole and see what is actually there. might be 4in.
Have you tried this on c8 z06 yet?
@showstopperacc no, have not had the opportunity to work on or ride in one of those yet.
09+ models you should drain the dry sump oil lines and it gets out a whole extra quart, so it actually takes 11.5 quarts
Thanks for the comment. According to the factory service manual the fluid capacity with filter is 10.5 quarts. For a routine oil change I don't think pulling the dry sump lines is necessary, but certainly an extra step you could do if you wanted to get as much oil out as possible.
@@southfloridagearheads No problem! I think it is good practice as it gets out as much oil as possible so you have less old/dirty oil mixing with your fresh oil
Question: when you got done, what did your STFT and LTFT look like? With my Corsa intake, Speedmaster TB, and the LSX intake, mine look like +18 on the LTFT. Did you make the adjustment for this in your tune?
yeah airflow increased a bit. my car is maf tuned so just made adjustments to the tables.
Good explanation of your intentions, I am particularly looking forward to your experience with the brake package. You are choosing from Kns, I talked to the owner on the phone for a while and he is a very knowledgeable guy.
yeah they seem great over there.

Could be wrong but isn't Michigan Motor Sports Chinese imports?

Have you tried a shifter kart? A blast to run without all the cost.
might need to consider that after this track day haha
Hey, I have the same year and color car as yours, just hit 20K miles. It's mostly stock, except for the heads done with valve guides and porting at Texas Speed (did that at 13K), plus an MGW shifter. I'm considering a trunnion bearing upgrade and was wondering about roller rockers-have you done or thought about that? I agree with you on the "gentlemen's car" approach. People constantly push me to do cams, exhaust, etc., but I'm not interested. I’m a bit older, so I get where you're coming from. I've thought about tracking it but ....
I did a bronze trunnion kit on this car on the first build. forgot to mention that I guess. The CHE kit is really good and easy to install. I would highly consider it so you don't end up with broken needle bearings all in your engine. roller rockers might be a bit overkill.
@@southfloridagearheads Thanks I will check that out.. Timing is perfect of this.. Should knock this out in a weekend

@georgegalyer8224 thanks! Hopefully don't regret it after haha
I was excited to see you post again today, I enjoy your content! Being in my mid 50's and have been meaning to do HCI on my 2008 C6Z for several years now, I'm glad you posted this. I've been slowly picking up parts to make it happen (I have the headers, MSD intake, and NW 102), but I still need to get the heads and cam, along with all the other odds and ends. Heads, I was considering going with aftermarket castings (TS maybe?), and the B3 cam as that cam seems to be proven and is known to make 600+ rwhp. With that said, I don't want to end up with a bucking bronco and not be able to cruise on the highway in 6th gear at 75 mph either. Trying to get anyone to be subjective about this cam when it comes to manors has been tough, everyone just raves about the power and never really wants to talk about around town street manors in much detail. I'd like to hit 600 rwhp, but I'm starting to think the B3 might be a little more than I want to deal with. Something like the BTR V2 stg 2 might be a better fit for me as well. I'm guessing 550-575 rwhp would be doable with that cam? Either way, I very much look forward to watching your build and results/thoughts afterwards! BTW, high flow cats are a must for me at this point, my days of walking around with my clothes stinking after driving the car and listening to the ladies b!tch about the smell while driving are over. Sounds like you'll get to that point too, if you haven't already...
Also, recently my car has intermittently been making a "tick tick" sound in the dash and displaying "no fob detected" when I go to start the car. It's intermittently doing it with both fobs. Is this the RCDRL starting to go? I haven't looked into this yet.
@ssoffshore5111 yes this is all 100% spot on. the amount of people I have heard say their big cam drive like "stock" because it's all in the tune is amazing. but again it's subjective and everyone's tolerance is different. the b3 is an amazing cam and the rpm heads/combo is every hard to beat. but that power comes at some level of sacrifice to drivability. I think these smaller cams with 550-575 is the proper balance. yes I agree also high flow cats are likely a must.
@@southfloridagearheads Thanks for the input, sounds like we're on the same wavelength! BTW, does my fob issue sound like the RCDRL?
My HCI C6 dyno’d at 560 something and it’s a ton of fun!!!
@robyna8995 that's a perfect amount of power
Long time sub and always great content!! Gentleman's Corvette, Love It!! Same here on the wife and trips, but elected to get rid of my Inferno Orange '11 Grand Sport (Nikki) and get the '22 Rapid Blue. She thoroughly enjoys the comfort of the C8 over the C6. Did a 9/11 Tunnels to Towers Run to Marathon Key a couple months ago and she enjoyed the ride. Looking forward to the new build content. Thanks for your time and efforts.
@BuckeyeDave1 c8 I'm sure makes for a nice cruiser! especially with the wife. I hope this build makes for a more rounded enjoyable car.
I have an 09 Z06 Jetstream blue. I have the Rpm B3 cam with thier heads. It chops hard, surges a bit under 2k and definitely shakes a bit even with it tuned by Jeremy Formato at Faster Proms. Just curious how you got the B3 cam specs because they seem so hush hush about it. Great vid
@derricknelson3396 I built a car with the b3 cam before and we had Fran remote tune it. Hopefully Fran doesn't get mad.
hey really excited about your build. I have a 06 z06 and will probly do the exact same thing. as far as the dash goes. here is a link to chris sullivan channel and how he addressed his dash. actually looks like its pretty easy to fix th-cam.com/video/DHXMuLoG63c/w-d-xo.html
@@timewilltell473 Chris is the man! a true jack of all trades. I will likely check that out when the time comes for the dash.
I had my dash pulled this year and had an upholstery shop redo the leather dash entirely. They found a grain that matched the interior. I couldn’t re-glue mine because it had shrunk and tore when we tried to stretch it back. This was the last thing I completed on the car after I did everything else I wanted to do.
Fellow 09 Cyber Grey Z owner, been following since the beginning. Semi similar setup with the Katech K501 cam, 102 TB, and the Fast LSXR intake, headers and catless X pipe, Corsa sports. I’ve literally been thinking about a similar refresh for the same reasons you talked about. Looking at the same cams but also had the Katech touring cam in the list of options. Little on the milder side, but good stability and stated good street manners. I just don’t want to end up with power regrets coming from the bigger cam. Looking forward to following the build and getting some feedback
@jamesbassford2231 I actually talked to Katech today and they are recommending the "all day camshaft" instead of the torquer 116. I've got a few more things to go through before the final decision.
High flow cats are pretty nice, there's no fuel smell after a couple minutes of warming up but the car still sounds great. Makes a pretty big difference if you're trying to use the car in the city

Hey man, I have a C6Z and my side drain plug always drips. I've tried different plugs and I'm beginning to wonder if it's the mating surface on the pan. Have you ever had an issue with drips from either of the drain plugs?
the face the seal in the bolts mates to needs to be smooth and flat. it's possible there is some damage on the surface. you could try and clean it up, or even a little thread sealant next time. I love the blue monster tape. and it's oil resistant.

Man this channel is pretty cool, I figured you had a mechanical background seeing how meticulous you are. Working on those huge ship engines must be pretty fun. I'm a diesel tech but on smaller scale cat stuff. Mainly c7 - c18 for DOD stuff. Definitely gonna follow the channel!
@hairymoobs thanks! yeah I kinda split the stuff between working on ship engines and the cars. love those CAT engines, I've got one to look at tomorrow actually a 3408 looks like a lifter seized up due to fuel dilution in the oil. should be fun.
I am having the same problem with my C7 and the mechanic wants to charge me $3k to change one lifter because he thinks the camshaft is damage but I only drove about 10 miles once there was a misfire and the car acted super weird. Is there a need for removing the camshaft to check?
you can inspect the camshaft lobe once the lifter is removed. you wont know if the cam is damaged until you pull the heads and the lifters out
@southfloridagearheads This video is very thorough and helpful. I have a Chevy Sonic 1.4 with Turbo and I replaced PCV cover 3 times now. Thank god for my father in law who’s a mechanic, doesn’t cost me as much as a dealership would charge. Now I just have to show him this video so we can finally have a more permanent fix. Thank you very much. 2 years later and this video is like gold to me right now.
good to hear! also, take a look at the "cruze pcv fix kit" a guy has been making them for the cars and you dont need to replace the intake manifold. adds a external check valve in the system so you dont need to rely on the faulty one in the intake manifold.
I just purchased 3 of these one for my Nissan Versa. I ordered parts off of A-Premium and those parts meet or exceed OEM specifications. Will that work?
@@RLKRAILTIES aftermarket parts are ok in many applications. but sometimes it is best to use OEM.
@@southfloridagearheads Do I have to include torque specifications on bolts I tighten such as control arm bolts. Do I have to be specific about to the last the bolt. Or just say the control arm was replaced and leave at that?
@RLKRAILTIES that's totally up to you. any details you include may help you in the future. like including the part number, torque spec and maybe a trick you found removing it or replacing it. so if you had to do the job again you have a quick reference and don't need to look up all that information again.
