His knowledge is nuts!!RIP Dick
Thanks!
Phil, do you have the rest of this session or know where I can view it please?

this is so cool boss man the giant txc slr1 2017 is so awesome and kool quality is diabolical
i mean amasing
beautiful
Met Mr. Bates in Las Vegas, truly a mind ahead of any I have known. I watch his sessions with awe the same way I did when he was live in Vegas. Brilliant!
Gerrard the boss😎😎
who is this best defender he talks about?at 2:01 ?
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franco_Baresi
The time has arrived to put this video in everyone 's reccommendation
Does anyone have the Dick Bates session at Spokane Washington? It used to be on TH-cam but the owner has removed.

The video is a great example of how a midfielder should be. But it was not really a master class. Gerrard somehow always showed how uncomfortable he was when playing in a deep midfield position. His weight of passes was perfect but his positional awareness usually forced him into difficult situation. At some points of the video Gerrard's body orientation was not good when receiving the ball. At 0:02, he postioned himself freely to receive the ball, but didnt open his body properly, so had to take 2 turns, and by the time he could decide what to do next, the Eve striker had enough time and was already going to intercept. Again at 0:13, didnt open his body, so missed the chance to open the play to other flank. If you want to study a midfield masterclass, watch the Spainish: Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Alonso, Carzola, Arteta. English just produces good football athletes, not good football players...
@Samarth Kulkarni Well, there still are some exceptions like late - career period Scholes, Carrick, maybe Gareth Barry. But in overall, English doesnt appreciate deep lying, orchestrating midfielders well enough. They always prefer the fun and run type, like Gerrard or Lampard, who likes to make constant runs into the box for scoring chances, which also are good but also make the team structure vulnurable because of the gaps they left behind.
At 0:13 he didn't receive the ball quick enough to make that pass to the other flank. 7 clogged the area up and whoever passed it to Gerrard did not think ahead.
Lol😂😂😂!!!
maybe but gerrard is a very good footballer same scholes. gerrard is far more smart and better than arteta. i agree when you said than england create athletes more than footballer so i prefer be reasonnable in analysis
@@edmondsimon9220 Well, it's hard to compared Gerrard and Arteta when they're different types of midfielder, and most of all, they represent the difference between English and Spanish football. Gerrard is more dynamic, more roburst, more up and down the pitch. Meanwhile, Arteta is more calm, more control at the base of midfield, just like his friend/compatriot Xabi Alonso. The reason Arteta didnt receive enough recognition because Spanish produced so many of his kind, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Iniesta, Busquets, Albeda. But in UK, English only has Gerrard and Frank Lampard, and of course they took all the spotlight
Excellent detail. Love it!
Trying to show my son how to play his position RWinger TKS for the view
Very useful video, would be better if it was titled 'defensive organisation' as the first counter attack came after 15 mins.
Benjamin's observation is instructive as to what's involved in "counter-attack." For Dick Bate to spend so much time on defensive organisation suggests to me that 'how the team is organised prior to the counter opportunity' is what ultimately helps the counter to work (or not) when the chance does finally arrive. I might even say that it's this defensive organisation that creates the chance at all.
@@scottrobertson3864 Counter Attack is a form of defending,
I think this is one of the differences between Gerrard and Scholes. Gerrard loves to make chances happen. He loves playing 1,2 with his teammates. He'd pass the ball and make a run and try to create momentum. Scholes on the other hand would find a teammate with different kinds of good passes, but he wasn't inspiring chances like Gerrard. When you see Gerrard make a pass and then make a run, get the ball, pass again and make another run, it just lifts the team's momentum and plenty of times it creates chances
Yea. Driving force. Talisman. People say Gerrard dont dictate games like scholes,😂lol
That’s why his assist stats aren’t as high.
Thanks a lot!
RIP Dick Bate
I worked with Dick Bate one of the best at all time he comes across with clear and easy to understand what he wants fr you ...RIP
sorry - couldn't stand still to this one !! :)
At 3:00, is that Anderson (ex Man U player)
no
Imagine this was Paul Scholes....Man Utd fans would be putting up this video all over the place to prove to everyone how he's the greatest of all time and how Gerrard could never do that.
@@thegenerator3150 there is also better example of gerrard than him.both are great.gerrard, lampard and scholes is my midfield trio in pes😎😎
The fact that you mentioned Paul Scholes proves that he’s better
@@prometheustv6558 sorry but can not agree.
@@mdohi9846 How is Gerrard better
@@prometheustv6558 the same questine i can ask you.but what ever bro they both are legends not us.they always worked hard, entertained us and became legends and instead of we learn these things from them we always debate who is better.thats why we are not in their position.they would be laughing if they knew fools like us comparing them.so compareisme is just one thing you will give some arguement and i will give some.but that will be stupidity.
good job coach simple and clear points.
I think Coach Bates is only human alive that can shout / scream, and miraculously still pronounce every word perfectly.
thank you a lot man! so hard to find these camers. hope to see more of these soon ☺
top notch!
The Coaching Points are key in this session. Dick Bate gets the key points across so well. Great clarity, great examples and great communication. Thanks for uploading this Phil!

Thanks Phil - great to see more Dick Bate sessions, he's such a great communicator
Dick Bates is one of the best coaches I have seen and learned from.
Phil I'm enjoying your videos. Where are compiling these from? Please keep them coming! Thanks again!
The tactical cams are my own from a video camera pointing at the TV - as an interactive service you can't record it on the sky box. The others are from the FA Licensed Coaches Club and TH-cam

+Phil Green i wear a hearing aid
What an upload. Very nice. Here in Italy we didn't have this kind of cam, we have to learn from English about football and analogous lovely stuff. Thank you very much!
is there anyway you could upload a full tactical cam match of the Chelsea vs Crystal palace game
You need to record it as I have done here with a video,camera....it's not available to download anywhere...
+Phil Green oh ok. I don't have sky sports
I didn't say only use a tactics board, I said 'beforehand' as I still think the two combined would work better here and the players would get a clearer understanding especially if you want to 'create pictures' as tactics boards are useful for more visual learners rather than auditory (there's so much talking here). If you watch any of the Coaching Manual and even FA coaching videos these days, they're always starting with a board for this reason.
First 15 mins of the match on 24th Aug 2015. Unfortunately the commentary isn't in sync with the picture they are broadcasting !!
Phil Green can you still do this with recent games ?
