For anyone who wants to get into photography, ask yourself what do you want to photograph, and what's your budget. Then do research on what lenses are great for the niche you want to photograph then look online for used gear that fits your budget. A good rule of thumb is that 80% of your budget should go to everything other than the main body. That's the advice Zack Arias gave in a podcast and I find it to be useful.
@@mrfuzzy2954 great advice! And yes good glass on a cheap body can give great results 🙌
Super honest and straightforward! Appreciate it :)
@@Genevieve_Vavance_63625 appreciate you for watching, hope it helps 🙌

@@artemtakingpictures A time capsule, I love it 🙌
I have the same 150-600mm Sigma. Of course I'm shooting motorsports, so the max focal length is pretty much mandatory. Anyway, it is a nice sharp lens at an amazing price. You get a lot of glass for the money.
@@UnknownS0und agree, I love my one 🙌
Trying to figure out which lenses to prioritize is almost as bad as picking a camera lol The more I learn, the more indecisive I become.
Yea I hear ya, I obviously use the standard focal lengths too, 24 - 70 is probably my most used lens tbh. You just have to find what works for what you shoot.
Just buy a camera you like and you know you will definitely take out and use. No point in spending money on something you’re going to use a few times then put on a shelf.
@@elim02 exactly 💯
This gives me hope. Im 28 and still dont know what I wanna do when I grow up lol Ive been trying to do social media but it wasnt quite right. I really love taking pictures though so maybe I need to shift my focus this direction
Plenty of time mate, if you really love photography you'll naturally embrace it and grow it. And don't ever feel rushed to find what you want to do, trust the process and the right thing will come into your life eventually 🙌

Have no idea about photography but keep up the work and you are going to big. The interview frame is a bit to tight and personal för a youtube short without a name popup text or presentation. But I love people that has no problem get down in the dirt to get a good photo!

Having a narrow niche depends upon your given market. Works well in big cities, not so well in smaller markets where a specific niche may have very few customers.

Done, I really appreciate the help. I'm slowly getting my head around this TH-cam thing 🙌
Very well said brother, sometimes having the newest tech is just overkill because the A7iv is not even outdated and people are scrutinizing it because of the A7v release lol, while a A7iii can still get the job done, with that said I’m getting my A7iv this week 😊
And why you not wait for the a7V relase ? And maybe get the new one with ai features. Or get the a7iv with lower price.😅 ?
@ read the last sentence in my comment
Yea exactly, most of the people I know in the industry shoot on older cameras for that reason, they still do the job just fine 👍
Yeahhh .. i think some basic knowledge of your camera will help your photography somehow.. maybe im crazy.
Well said…. I picked up a used a7iv recently only because a used one popped up with a very low shutter count and was half the price of a new body and it came with a 24-70 2.8GM and 2 cards. Half way thought it was a scam. He left the pictures on the cards(same number of photos as the shutter count). All his photos were astrography related. I believe he got frustrated and put the camera on the shelf for a bit before selling it.
Sounds like you got a great deal! 😎
Insightful. Thanks.

Social media can be usefull to lead people to your website. Not more than that. That's why I don't have links on my website towards my social media accounts. When on my website there's no need to go to the socials.
@@frits1463 totally agree, even though I have said links on mine 😬
Yes❤
Out of a lot of budgets and I don’t suggest this for new photographers but I paid 1,600 for a Sony A7IV with a 24-70 F2.8 GM with very low shutter count. Used cameras are also an option.
@@BouncingSparksJ yes used is definitely the way to go, I buy used when I can too. Return on investment is definitely better on used gear, great combo you got for that price 👏
Down graded to lumix gx80 so I always have a camera with me and it’s all I need for street, still have my good gear for major work but love the old lumix
Good work, the everyday carry camera is definitely the go 👏
Well said.
Cheers
I'm channelling Vivian Maier these days; sharing is too much like hard work.
Yea I hear ya 🙌
I agree. Instagram is not what it once was. Many of the people I follow don't post as much as they used to do, and some of them apparently have stopped posting. So I get a lot of advertisnig thrown in my face when I'm on insta. I have recently discovered an other app, which is focused on photography and sharing photos. It's called VERO - but I don't know how widespread it is and how much traffic you can get from it And then again it's a platform that is not yours. you don't have the control you can have on a webpage.
3:10 - I ignored LinkedIn until I started to get serious about TH-cam and my website. It could lead to jobs but it certainly can help bring traffic to your TH-cam and website. Cheers!
How does this actually work? Do you have two cards and the photos/videos are stored on each of them, so that if one card fails you have the exact same data on the other card?
@@bertherr8598 yes exactly, or in some cases like when I'm covering events where I do a lot of frames I'll write Raws to one and JPEGs to the other.
this dude is goated
ive just ordered the Sony Alpha NEX-5N and it comes with a lens, it was a decent price but im not sure if i will actually enjoy photography, so im only using it as a test :)

Im looking at the canon r100 for Christmas. I'd like to do some wildlife photography, portraits, and landscape. Is the r100 suitable for this, If so, what size lens should I get?
@@FilmMaker2878 great little camera, Canon make a RF 100-400 which is a great lens for the price and nice and compact. Will give the equivalent of 150-600 on r100 👍

Your not just buying a camera, your buy in into a system. It is best to go to a camera shop that sells new and used cameras and put your hand on them. How they feel in your hand and their button layout, menus..etc makes a difference. Also learn about light and practice, practice, practice.
