Saw Ali's UB40 earlier in the year and the original band the Saturday just gone and the difference was night and day! Robin and the original band were so much more polished and professional than Ali's and the new singer more than holds his own...very impressed.

Ali is and always was the voice of ub40 , differences have always been there musically and business ,we are all getting older ,ub have been together 50 yrs now since kids ,they have also lost band members who were large players in the set up as well as friends with deep emotional contact as anyone with friends for so long will testify ,losing them not only changes the dynamic or the band but the head space of the ones left , is it a shame the band split, yes have we had great music since also yes , as a live band they always have been amazing but motivation and will to carry on with new members is difficult ,they don’t know the music or the process they band have had forever , so while being onstage is where they want to be it must evoke deep sadness for the lost friends not being there and a reminder every gig , should the remerge? One last time would be great but the divisions are deep on both sides and there’s so many bands we as fans miss because of feuds , it’s all too late once illness or death makes the final call and suddenly the option to be difficult has gone ,the music lives on as music always does

Ali Campbell is a vile bloke. To refer to the band as a tribute act is pathetic and to say 'they sing my songs' makes me piss myself. His songs? When did Ali ever write a song? He walked out on UB40 over sheer greed and he thought they'd fall apart. They didn't. Now the bloke can't even sing in key/pitch. Total w ⚓️

Anyone who really believes his band sounds like UB40 is living in a fantasy world. He may have an awesome band. They don't sound like UB40. He may be an amazing singer, but anyone who supports his band is just proving his ego point that it was always all about him. Everyone in the band sang the songs. Not just him. He chose to leave. Why is that the original band's problem that he couldn't sell tickets by himself? Unprecedented was a bad album. I guess that's what happens when you remove the people that wrote their original songs. Cuz god knows Ali didn't. I'll love Ali as a vocalist forever. I saw the original band w Duncan and had a blast. They keep my support. If Ali puts out an album that is good, maybe ill be back. But until then, here we are.

It is very clear who is deluded in this scenario. How long are people going to pretend that one of the most distinctive voices in reggae can be replaced seamlessly? How many different lead singers have they tried since he left? Saw him at Rochester castle and he was great. Whatever the story is, I'm sticking with Ali.

Ali found out the hard way like so many previous lead singers that solo success is not a guarantee. That was why he started trying to appropriate the UB40 brand name. The original UB40 have displayed genius in selecting lead singers to replace Ali. Duncan was an inspired pick and Matt is just awesome. Paired with Robin's vocals, in all honesty Ali is not missed at all. UB40 was about the Voice and the Sound. The original UB40 have both while Ali has only the Voice. Also, don't forget that each member of the original UB40 had their individual fan followings... it was not just about Ali. My own faves in the group were Robin, Brian and Jimmy. If i had to choose which version of UB40 to watch ? Definitely the original UB40.

😢utter bollox. I saw them in brum a couple of months ago and they were as good as ever. Only thing that could make them better would be astro. That backing singer Robin is definitely not missed. Fan since 79 and I've seen ub40 26 times.

Honestly, "there is another UB40.." Excuse me, but who left whom? Former lead vocalists who think too much of themselves are two a penny these days it seems. He may have sung on a lot of the earlier UB40 tracks, but he's only one man, they're still a band, and a lot better sounding than he is these days too. The output from the original UB40 over the many years since this conceited joker left has knocked hs stuff into a cocked hat. Only my humble opinion of course.😎

The real UB40 recently hit number 5 in the album charts with their new album UB45. So hows it going for you Ali...oh yes you are still ripping off the name UB40 because you just cant make it without the UB40 name and you are still screeching away in that UB40 tribute band that you have going.

UB40 will never be the same without the originals! Ali voice is 1 of kind but it took the whole team that made UB40 who they are. I have to say with UB40 lead singer Matt the Hollywood is sounding really good looking forward to their tour 45. When it is the whole band it is magical there signature sound. Ali should not bag on UB40 to me that is insecurity! I will 4 ever be a UB40 fan 4 life I got to meet them all took photos with them signatures in fact Ali gave me & my wife plus 4 on the guess list to see them in the Greek theatre in Los Angeles we went invited some friends. Front row amazing time hung out in the back stage after. Many memories ☝🏽❤️🙏🏽
