KYOTO | Last Week of Summer Vacation - Week in my Life | JAPAN
Saying goodbye to summer in Kyoto is both a good and bad thing. Bad because work starts again, but good because those cool autumn breezes will be rushing in soon. I hope you all enjoyed the video.

SAPPORO SNOW FESTIVAL | A Weekend in Sapporo, Hokkaido
มุมมอง 466ปีที่แล้ว
After a three year hiatus, the Sapporo Snow Festival made a return in February 2023 and I just so happen to live in Japan now, so I HAD to check it out. Being raised in the South of the U.S., I didn't get many chances to see snow accumulate so coming to Hokkaido and seeing snow up to my calves was a shock for me! I thoroughly enjoyed myself at the festival and in Hokkaido in general. I will def...
Day Trip to KOBE | Kobe Beef & Hatsumode
มุมมอง 316ปีที่แล้ว
I gave Kobe another shot and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I went once before, but I only went to a friend's apartment and IKEA. But this time I got the whole Kobe experience. I ate the beef (delicious), I had taiyaki (delicious), ate American style pancakes and French Toast (delicious) and spent some time at the harbor. I hope y'all enjoy the dialog as much as I did when experiencing it. Kobe is ...

มุมมอง 4822 ปีที่แล้ว
Happy New Year! I sincerely hope you've all had a great time with family and friends during the holiday season, and I hope 2023 has been good to you so far! I've always talked about wanting to go café hopping as a hobby when I lived in America, but never really had the money to do it - and when I had the money, I didn't have time. BUT, I finally went and had a great time with some friends in th...

Hey y'all. Happy Fall! Here's a video explaining how elementary school works. Please remember that what I said in this video applies to me specifically. People placed all over Japan on JET (or through Eikaiwa) have different experiences. Let me know if y'all have any other questions you'd like me to answer. I can't believe I've been in Japan for almost a year at this point. It's insane that tim...
Gion Festival & Self Care Summer Part 1
มุมมอง 5052 ปีที่แล้ว
The Gion Festival is held yearly in Kyoto City for Yasaka Shrine, but due to Rona they haven't held it since 2019, so it's been great to experience it again. I'm also broke... so hot boy summer is cancelled, but self-care summer is in! This summer is dedicated to doing (cheap) things that I can't normally do because of the lack of time due to work, and taking care of my body. Stay tuned for Sel...

APRIL VLOG | Month in my Life - Cherry Blossoms, Shopping, and Temple Hopping

Good April Everyone! This month was weird. I was simultaneously broke and busy. I have no idea how that worked, but it did. My first cherry blossom season was a complete success if I say so myself. Shoutout to the weather for not destroying all the beauty Kyoto had to offer that weekend. 👋, you know, moving to Japan you can’t bring a the American behaviour into their culture. Japanese people are very civilised and they have so many rules, like: No speaking loud into the public transport No smoke and drink alcohol on the public’s spaces But this rules are good for you if you respect their culture and rules. Success in Japan 🇯🇵👍👏

    hey Mike! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the snow festival! I recently moved to Sapporo to work for an eikaiwa and I was here just in time for the snow festival :D I visited several times and loved seeing the great variety of sculptures. At night they had a light projection show on the large 'building' sculpture which showed a timeline of Sapporo's history. Apparantly, 2022/23 was Sapporo city's 100th year anniversary! I remember the festival being PACKED though, and it was hard to get good pictures. Next time you come to Sapporo, you should check out the underground shopping malls! Aurora Town and Pole Town are connected underground and have a great variety of goods. During winter, the ちかほ (underground walkway) connects these malls and the subway stations (Sapporo, Odori and Susukino stations) with an underground walkway that makes it super convenient. Also, people tell me that Hokkaido is a great place to visit in the summertime because it's warm but not too hot. Hokkaido is famous for many things, including its lavender fields in the summer. So whether you choose to come in the winter again, or any other season, Hokkaido and Sapporo have so much to offer! Ps. Did you try Hokkaido's corn tea? :D

    • @SliceofMikeJP
      @SliceofMikeJP ปีที่แล้ว

      In my experience, the most expensive part about coming to Japan was actually GETTING here. With the current prices for flights... It's a lot more expensive than it usually is. However, once you get here, lodging, food, transportation, and entertainment is fairly inexpensive. But do some research on which areas you'd like to stay in beforehand! Good luck :D
