This is absolutely incredible - thank you! Whoever her voice teacher was back in the early MGM days obviously knew what they were doing; her voice is always recognizable while being effortless, particularly when she was younger. What struck me the most was her head voice and opera spoofs - if she had wanted to, she would have made for an incredible operatic mezzo. Of course, as she aged the voice suffered some damage, but she wisely adapted to the changes and kept up the quality of her performances and musicality until nearly the very end (and I think we can excuse the wonderful woman a few slip-ups in her last concerts). Much like Barbra, she uses her incredible technical skills in service of the music, never the other way around.

1976. She dropped 1-2 albums a year in the 70s, all different. Rock, pop, gospel, R&B, disco, classical, etc. She could do anything with that voice. (She also released 9 movies, the only female in the top 10 actors with highest box office receipts. She was red hot then.)
