Before & After - The Lemp Mansion (St. Louis) 4k
Said to be one of the ten most haunted places in America, the Lemp Mansion in St. Louis, Missouri, continues to play host to the tragic Lemp family. Over the years, the mansion was transformed from the stately home of millionaires to office space, decaying into a run-down boarding house. It was finally restored to its current state as a fine dinner theatre, restaurant, and bed and breakfast.

Here is a quick interview I did with Tiamak. Mini him from the movie the last Dragon, where he played the character, Leroy Green. I first watched the last Dragon when I was in middle school and I never forgot his character that was also nicknamed Bruce Leroy. He was super down-to-earth and it was a pleasure to meet him. This was at Cape Con on November 2nd, 2024. #tiamak #thelastdragon #bruceleroy

Bill Emerson Bridge Drone 4K - Cape Girardeau
I live here in Cape. My Grandma remembers this happening when she was a child.
Heard crash was along 55 hwy little past St. Genevieve in a field. Not all the way down to Cape G...????
Fast forward yrs as waiting tables off 55 hwy, an elderly couple over heard me tell a table about incident. The man told me he drove a truck for company along with 5 other men. Said one flew next to his window looking at him. Said all men concurred that they had seen them on way to Cape Girardeau. On midnight drives.
An elderly lady that went by Granny Billie told me about it. Said there were 2 dead upon crash, one barely alive that died while they were there. Said men were propping them up with 2×4's while taking pics. Gov showed up and took all cameras and pics. No area 51 at that time so they were taken to white house in formaldehyde filled tubes in basement. Swore secrecy and men were allowed to go see them at WH. She said it really happened.
I’ve not been to Cape yet, someone at the Game X Change in Poplar Bluff says it’s had a crime increase and believes that’s why her store, nor Hastings-type chains like Vintage Stock (based out of Joplin) and 2nd & Charles (owned by Books-A-Million) have bothered expanding in that area, not even the more upscale Jackson.
The alleged photo shows two MiB looking guys holding a little alien up by the arms. I interpreted the crash location to be closer to Dalhousie but looking for debris would be like finding a needle in a haystack.
Apparently, no one really knows where the crash actually took place, as accounts range from it happening near the Cape Girardeau Airport as you stated, to a wooded area near Notre Dame High School a bit west of the city, to a field near what used to be called Illmo, now just outside of the town of Scott City. On top of that, G.D. Fronabarger allegedly took as many as 20 photos, and gave copies of several to other prominent members of the Cape Girardeau community at the time, including the fire marshal, chief of police, and the mayor of the city. But, just like with most of the story, this can't be truly corroborated. Also, no one knows exactly when the crash took place, except that it was sometime during the spring, and it's widely accepted that it may have been sometime in April of 1941. And, Baptist pastors don't give last rites, as has been mentioned by many practicing Baptists over the years, which along with all of these other glaring holes, make the story extremely unlikely to actually be a real event in the way that it's been told. The most likely scenario is that, if the crash even happened in the first place, the craft was an experimental military craft, which would explain the military presence. This craft may have been at least temporarily housed in the air force base that used to operate in Sikeston, Missouri, which is about 35 or so minutes south of Cape. The so-called extraterrestrial bodies may have simply been actual human remains that were burned and battered beyond true recognition from the impact, giving the possible illusion of not being from this world. As for the story itself, I believe that a game of telephone was at play here, and it became exaggerated and embellished over the years to seem more exciting and mysterious than what the truth really was.

I worked @ Star Vue the last 2 years it was in operation. Fun experience. Climbing up the ladder to the roof of the screen was an experience that I will never forget. The screen was concave, so the lower half of the ladder leaned back. I had to change a few of the spotlight bulbs that were on top. Good thing heights didn't bother me

Very informative and well done. Reminds me of Galena at the other end of Illinois. Killed by the railroad.
I’ve been through Cairo many times, both pre and post the opening of the I-57 bridge. This is a great video. Grandma Mary seems delightful.
I enjoyed the thorough history of Cairo, especially your interview with your grandmother.
Paul Blake Smith, in his book: "MO41, The Bombshell Before Roswell," now says that he believed this crash/recovery incident occurred in May of 1941, not April, as has been previously said. Also, the Alien Hunters TV show had a show where this incident was reviewed, & it was stated, without attribution, that the UFO material was sent to Purdue University, in Indiana, for analysis. It was alleged that the "invention" of fiber-optic technology was really back-engineered from materials found on the crashed flying saucer.

So I come across this video. The combination of the 1920's rag time music, photos from the 40s & 50s and knowing that I have personally bumped rap whose artists still live. while driving on that old bridge made me a special kind of mad 😂 of course at the time being late teens early twenties myself I would have had the same perspective on how long 20 years is/isn't. The bridge is an easy target if you want to really look into something cape that requires some digging research the Plaza Galleria Ice skating rink & mini mall, the rise and fall of the independent department store at the corner of s broadview and bloomfield rd, or the history of the old woolworths/iga area

Another great video on the Cape Girardeau area. I have seen several accounts of this purported incident, all of which seem to have the same basic details. You did a good job of presenting the story in a straightforward and thorough way without trying to make it overly sensational. I like those timelines you do in your videos that help to recap everything and put it all in order. The drone footage of downtown and the riverfront were very nice too. Thanks for all the effort you put into producing these informative, professional-quality videos.
You're very welcome and I enjoy doing them. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to tune in!
My understanding is that the crash site was near the intersection of Hwy 74 (Dutchtown Rd) and Bloomfield road, near what is now Dalhousie Golf Course. Have not lived in Cape in many years, I think old Bloomfield road may have been re-routed/changed a bit over the years. This location is near the airport, but not real close. I grew up in Cape.
What you say about hearing it was near the Bloomfield Road and Highway 74 intersection, but also near the airport is likely to make more sense when you consider which airport is being referred to. There was an airfield located along Route 74 that was used as a pilot training school. This was all before my time, but I recall my dad mentioning it. I expect that is the airport mentioned in some accounts. From what I read, it was called the Consolidated School of Aviation and was started in 1940. They trained military pilots during WW2 and moved to Harris Field, what is now the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport, in 1947. If I recall correctly, the Potashnick Construction Company was later located at the site of the old airfield. I remember the construction company being located along 74 near the Bloomfield intersection. You are right about Bloomfield Road being modified. That was done several years ago because the old roadway was unsafe for the volume of traffic that was using it. I know it had to be done, and it's still a nice drive, but I always liked the nice, shady road before they removed a lot of the big, old trees to widen the road. For a what-it-looks-like-now video, I would recommend Drive-Thru: Bloomfield Rd and Good Hope St Cape Girardeau, MO on the YT channel YourFriendStChris.
Great information and video. Thank you
Were you familiar with this story beforehand?
I meant to comment before vid disappeared. Glad it's back. That was really very interesting. I know about Roswell but never knew about this story. TY. Enjoyed this very much Rusty
Thank you for spending the time to check out the video. I had a typo in my caption that I had to fix that’s why the original video was deleted. There’s so many tiny things you miss until you finally post it the video! Haha. So what are your thoughts on whether it really happened or not?
@@LifeinCapeGirardeau I just don't know. The photographer by all indications in your vid appeared to be a very well respected news person. The missing negatives though..... interesting story for sure.
@@rustynailmendlesohn8710well I don’t think the photographer, Fronabarger, was missing any photos.. I thought it was implied that he never took the photo to begin with. But I could be misinterpreting what was said. I wish he was here to clarify his side of the story.
Did you happen to notice the Coke sign, on Port Cape building,in your 1927 flood photo? These earlier photos,of the Coke sign, indicate it was not initially painted in 1940. Coca cola has verified they did not paint, nor sell Coke for 3cents. Apparently, this was added to the sign in a restoration in the 70s.

@@LifeinCapeGirardeau You see me twice, only if you are me and know where to look! I did pause the movie and grab images of me for proof. I was there when they returned to the home after she went to jail. I stood on the lawn across from the house and watched them drive the car up to the house and back down. They were in the back seat. Every time they drove up the hill, when they got to the same spot, I was to stand up and act shocked. I happened to talk in shock to the stranger next to me, so when he said it was all good, we were told to do it the same exact way over and over. So for many hours I stood up, looked shocked, and then mimed talking to the person next to me, and then sat back down, over and over and over! I counted the times, but I'd have to find that note. That person next to me never stood up in the test runs, so had it easy! I almost wish I had not initially because my thighs got a workout! Ah! I arrived very early and spent much of the day just waiting under a big tent. I could see me in a nano-second as they drove up the street and then when he shuts the front door, I can see me for a nano-second across the street. I went to a try-out on SEMO campus and they called me after some weeks. I know the person that played Ben's double for setting up the scenes and I know another that was there many days as an extra in many locations. Anyway, it was an experience for sure. It was fun to do once in my lifetime for the experience.
Great documentary about the filming of Gone Girl in Cape. Your videos on YT are always slick, professional quality productions. I like the photo timelines that you put in. The only thing I noticed that was a weak spot was the sound level. I watched the video all the way through on the TV and had to turn up the volume like from a 15 to 35 to get about the normal sound volume. I switched to the mobile app to leave this comment. The sound level was a bit better with it, so I don't know if the problem was some kind of audio normalizing setting on my TV or what. I usually don't have much problem with YT audio volume. Anyway, aside from that, great video.
thank you for the feedback and taking the time out of your day to watch my video. I know what you mean with the audio levels on the tv. I put it on my tv to see how it sounded and had the same issue. ill take note in the future to turn increase the volume when editing to compensate for those who watch TH-cam on their tvs.
@@LifeinCapeGirardeau Thanks for your quick reply. Yeah, I don't know what the issue is with sound on this video 🤔. None of your other YT video that I watched had that problem. Maybe it would be best not to make it too loud, though. I was able to turn it up and get normal sound level, which would be better than getting blasted out at the start and scrambling to turn it down 🤯. I just wanted you to be aware of it.
