Welcome to Geography Nuts,
We were curious about the world we live in, my kids and I started learning about world geography during the pandemic, the more we learned, the more our enthusiasm and curiosity grew.
We decided to make a video about each county so you can lean about them too. You don’t have to memorize every single detail in the video, unless you want to, knowing little bit about each county is a good think in an ever shrinking world.
We will Start in North America and go from North to South listing all the independent countries. We will do a separate video about dependent territory but it will be after their mother country. For an example, Greenland will be released after Denmark, as Greenland is a Territory of Denmark.
We do a lot of research to make sure information on the video is accurate, but if we make any mistake please let us know.
Please subscribe to our channel. Like and comment on our video.
Thanks you

The Falkland Islands
The Falkland Islands is a British Overseas Territory. It is an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean. You can find the Falklands east of Argentina and south of the Antarctic.
Geography
The Falkland Islands consist of two main islands, East Falkland and West Falkland, along with approximately 776 smaller uninhabited islands and islets. The total land area is just over 12,000 sq. km. East Falkland is the largest and most populous island. West Falkland is home to numerous wildlife sanctuaries and nature reserves, providing habitats for a variety of species, including penguins, seals, albatrosses, and dolphins.
The landscape is made of rugged terrain, rolling hills, and vast open spaces. Much of the islands' interior is covered by grassy plains, which provide grazing land for sheep and other livestock. Coastal areas feature rocky cliffs, sandy beaches, and numerous bays and inlets.
The highest point on the islands is Mount Usborne, located on East Falkland. It rises 705 meters above sea level and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
There are very few rivers and lakes on the islands, due to flat topography and permeable bedrock. Freshwater sources are small streams, ponds, and marshes, which are important habitats for wildlife
History
The history of the Falkland Islands is a tale marked by discovery, colonization, contention, and ultimately sovereignty disputes.
The Falkland Islands were first sighted by Europeans in 1592 by English explorer John Davis. However, the islands remained largely uninhabited until 1765 due to its remote location and harsh climate. When the British established settlement, tensions between Britain and Spain escalated because the Spanish also claimed the islands, this tension led to a brief conflict known as the Falkland Crisis of 1770, which ended with Spain ceding control of the islands to Britain (of Utrecht in 1771.)
During the Napoleonic Wars, the British temporarily withdrew from the Falklands. Argentina, then part of Spain briefly occupied the islands in 1832. However, 3 months later, British forces reasserted control. A year later, a small, permanent British administration was established and in 1845 Stanley became the capital of the Falklands
Argentina has continued to assert its claim to the Falklands, arguing that the islands rightfully belong to Argentina due to proximity and historical inheritance from Spain.
On April 1st, 1982, the Argentine military invaded Falkland. For 74 days Falklands were under Argentinian occupation. British forces liberated them on 14 June 1982. Nearly 1,000 Falkland Islands, British and Argentine lives were lost in the Falklands War.
Since the Falklands War, the islands have been a British Overseas Territory, with a degree of self-governance. The Islanders expressed their desire to remain British in various referendums, most recently in 2013, 99.8% voted to maintain British territory.
The Falklands have significant economic potential due to their rich fishing grounds and offshore oil deposits. However, exploitation of these resources has been a source of tension between Britain and Argentina, with Argentina still challenging the sovereignty of the Falklands.
In 1983, full British citizenship was given to Falkland Islanders under the British Nationality (Falkland Islands) Act
Today, the Falklands local government is responsible for all local affairs. After the war islanders live and work in peace.
People and Culture
Population of around 3,500 people, most live in the capital Stanley. Most of them are of British descent. There is also a small number of people of other nationalities, including Chilean and Saint Helenian heritage.
The culture is heavily influenced by British traditions. The islanders are known for their resilience, resourcefulness, and strong sense of community. Traditional activities such as fishing, farming, and sheep herding play a significant role in their culture.
The Falklands have a rich military history, particularly after the Falklands War. Memorials, museums, and historical sites scattered across the islands serve as reminders of this conflict and the sacrifices made by Falkland Islanders and British forces.
50% of all adults have some post-secondary or vocational qualifications. Education is free until 16. Beyond 16, young people have access to education abroad, usually UK funded by the Government. 85% of students who leave to study overseas choose to return to the Islands after graduating.
Economy
The economy is a mix of fishing, sheep farming, tourism, hydrocarbon exploration.
Fishing is the backbone, accounting for a significant portion of its GDP and employment. Sheep farming has long been a traditional industry, with wool production historically being a major export.
Tourism is becoming increasingly popular, driven by stunning natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and unique cultural heritage. The currency is the Falkland Islands pound (£)

Correction: Puerto Rico is not a terriorty but a commonwealth. Which PR the right to vote on becoming a state. Columbus "discovered" the Virgin Islands and only landed on St. Croix at an estate called Salt Rivera. Rockkerfeller STOLE the land of St. John by writing false ownership dees from the black St. Johnians living there. St. Thomas does not have a larger population than St. Croix even after Hurricane Hugo. We do not call spanish speaking people hispanic or lantino. Western english is not our language, our language is creole english. The precentage of christianity is wrong and no mention of Rastarfai belief. No everyone wears t-shirts, polos and jeans all the time. There are some people that wear linen or cotton clothing or even the Rasta women that wear dresses and skirts. No metion of quelbe music or quadrille music and music native to the Virgin Islands. I, as a Cruican will tell that is NOT fish and fungi that is some fusion thing. The fish is whole not filleted and fungi is yellow cornmeal with mashed okra turned into a ball. Roti is not native to or represent the VI but to the island of Trinidad and Tobago. We survived Hugo and will survive covid 911 and anything else that comes our way. Yes, we are a US territority but I am a Crucian/St. Johnian/ St. Thomaian and VI first and a lot of us feel that way.
Very well done

I’ve just met some really cool Jamaican seasonal workers here in Bar Harbor Maine and was looking for some information about their country and culture to learn so I can start a conversation with them and hopefully become friends😊
Nice wonderful country
Thanks a lot for sharing, great explanation
Beautiful country ❤❤❤
Wow 😮😮
Came here for the pronunciation as well. Your video is fantastic, take a couple extra mins and connect with locals on the names. Tulita Dolomite Carbonic The reason prononciation is important to respect is that these areas are not populated enough to influence over viral videos. Really good job on the video 👏
@CheeseFreaks lol, you're pretty smart eh? so is it "prononciation" or "pronunciation"? you use both. (sarcasm) who cares about the prononciation of "dolomite", or "carbonic"? these are very simple words and not sacred. dolomite is a mineral found among the limestone, and carbonic means the ground is high in co2 making the the water in the ground acidic which erodes the dolomite and other minerals; the type of acid; carbonic acid. "good job on the video!" sure, took others people's writing and copied into his own "the vast roadless..." i read that on another website too, he just copied what others already know. good job! now where is it? (anything more specific than between "tulita and norman wells")
Why talk so nice about the country? But have a negative comment on the flag, pretty sure the Barbadians love their flag and motto just the way it is.
so whats the coordinates? anyone have it pinpointed on google earth? i keep seeing the same images, and everyone just says something about it being between two towns... not saying it doesn't exist, but why cant i find anything more about it? ...
Because Tulita has a population of 500 and the same for surrounding towns. It is impossible to get up there and requires coordination of resources. There are zero hotels, limited fuel stops, limited grocery stores (when you find them a watermelon would be $30 before shrinkflation.
@@CheeseFreaks so the entire world knows about the bear rock sinkhole but no one knows its location because its near a small town? (sarcasm) i live in a town of only 1000. we still know where the lakes and landmarks are. lol what question are you answering? i asked "what are the coordinates"? as in, gps location of the sink hole..

Great description and video. Really enjoyed this.
How deep is the water . Do any fish live in it .
Where did all the debris go? I'm not sure about this theory
Great question. It collapsed in, probably at the bottom of the pond. Thanks
@@GeographyNuts The pond must be quite deep then to take on all the debris and the lake below quite big and the volume of the debris must have raised the water level, just wondering if that is actually the case. Would be interesting to get some facts about the water body volume in that hole.
To correct you ma'am, Suriname is top one of forestry, as we know trees gives us oxygen, so because we are rich in forestry ,other countries pay us for that .
Awesome job
That’s too bad Suriname does not border any Spanish speaking countries as their neighbors . Otherwise they will be speaking Spanish like the rest of South America

Trinidad and Tobago is transcontinental, Trinidad is part of north America and Tobago is part of South America unless I’m wrong
Hope you watch the full video, I included T&T under the possible transcontinental county. Some experts believe the southern half of Trinidad is part of the South American shelf, while others disagree but I couldn't find any geological research to confirm it either way. Thank you for the comment and you are not wrong.
