The Amtrak P32-AC-DM works primarily over the route from New York Penn to Albany which follows the Hudson river - a fabulous line for watching excellent locomotives which include the similar Metro North units on the local service trains.

Second tranche of recently recovered video footage of train travels in Belgium during 1998/1999. Clips shows everyday scenes in Brussels, and Berchem before a session on the "Canoes" with some rare 53s, then footage of weekend seaside reliefs at Blankenberge with 51s and 62s.

Some recently recovered VHS footage of HST trips from Bristol to Paddington, Birmingham International to Holyhead and Derby to Sheffield recorded Winter 1997/8. Not the best quality, but great nostalgia and plenty of Valenta thrash.

Recently rediscovered footage of SNCB operations on Trein Tram Bus Day 1997. Sequences feature diesel Class 51, Class 59, Class 62 and electric 2509 amongst others, filmed around Herentals/Lier/Antwerp, Jamioulx-Charleroi, and Oostende/Blankenberge/Brugge. Lots of interesting old train scenes on a fairly dark and dreary October day.

The dot infront of the Diesel Loc numbering (HLD 51 & 62 types) indicates that those locs had a steam boiler. The M2 carriages had a central heating system on steam radiators.

6:41 is that steam heating? Amazed it was still kicking around in Belgium at the turn of the millenium, think the last ones in the UK were the mid 1980s.
Yes - 5168 was on a special here and was one of the few remaining 51s with operative steam heat, but a number of the type 62 also retained this ability for regular services,
Great footage from the end of the diesel era in Belgium, only a few non electrified lines with class 41 DMUs remain.
No way I was there that exact date and time.
It was a beautiful day to be riding and filming on the line.
What train was 5182 on?
I have it referenced as Z18285 additional from Hasselt to Antwerp off Herentals about 0840 - sorry nothing more accurate.
Great memories of being a trainspotter there at that time and in the green era 11 years prior in the early eighties. This footage is amazing.

Excellent compilation. Wonderful sound but the VP185 was a great improvement on the Valenta both oil control wise & for reduced black smoke (having viewed many XPT videos) 8:20

That scream is just beautiful
Nice video. Note only 4 cars. The building on the platform reminds me of an airport control tower; I guess it's possibly a signal box or observation tower from where announcements are made. Also great sound (of front power car eventually notching up, carriages speeding up and nice noisey rear power car exhaust). Excellent. Both engines appear to be in good condition judging by there being no visible smoke produced while accelerating away (to the dismay of some no doubt). The Paxman VP185 was quite an improvement on the much loved Paxman Valenta regarding oil & Diesel smoke emissions imo and in the case of the XPT installation they also sound great presumably due to the different Silencer (muffler) arrangement employed as compared to the UK IC125.
Many people work hard to give us a very good day out...................all for charity too
