Nepal 2024, Dhaulagiri Circuit Adventure; Part 10 .. A short #cinematic video of the sights and sounds of ascending French Pass (5 360m/17 590ft) via the Hidden Valley (5200m) and the challenging /technical Dhampus Pass (5280m) followed by the long decent to Marpha (2700m).... Dramatic views of Dhaulagiri I peak (although, mostly covered in cloud) and snow & ice fields.
These were two challenging days....an early morning start.. with a race against approaching bad weather.........We climbed terraced talus slopes, the first of which runs along the glacier, then cuts across the mountain flank and the moraine you enter a steep incline and ridge which leads up to Top of French Pass. The following Day we headed out, to top Dhampus Pass (which we thought would not be that bad... as only a small accent with mostly descending.....were we WRONG.... Deep snow awaited us, plus we Descended way later...along route ... we had to battle through snow and ice fields for most of day...compounded by bad weather.. including a snow storm.....white out conditions...
Top French Pass A great vista opens up and when clear you will be able to see Dhaulagiri I peak...plus Mukut Himal (6328 meters), Tashi Kang (6386 meters) and Sita Chuchura (6611 meters), all of which surround the Hidden Valley.
Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek is a exhilarating adventure that explores the secluded and remote wilderness of the western-central part of the Himalayas.
