Sharing homeschool resources and methods that promote family style learning! We believe God had a perfect design for families and we want to help your family find the joy in family unity!
Welcome to the channel! I'm Abby, a Christian, wife and homeschool mom to 4 boys. Homeschooling has become a very passionate topic for me as I've seen the difference it makes, not only in families but in the formation of our children. It can be scary starting out on the homeschool path, but once you find the groove that fits your family you'll be thankful you did it.
Remember, you can't teach them everything, but you CAN teach them how to learn AND to enjoy learning... if you succeed in that, your student will be able to learn anything else they need for the future.
If you want to say hi feel free to shoot me an email. I would love to say hello. familystylerevival@gmail.com

I loved your videos thank you very much, i am a new homeschooling mom and i have unschooled my children my daughter is 9 and son is 7 but they cannot read perfectly and struggling with it. What can i do to make them love reading as i want them to be very good readers, they are very good at art and love nature and exploration. Please give me suggestions should i wait them to read as i am afraid and think that they will be left behind 😢
@@sunduszahidful it's a good time to start. The first step is they need to see how much you enjoy reading. Sit and read a book by yourself for at least twenty minutes a day. Also if you aren't already, read to them every day so they can fall in love with stories. I would suggest getting started with All About Spelling. This program will have your kids learn all the sound each letter can make. "A" can make 3 sounds. Work in level one until they have all the letter sounds memories and then move on at your own pace. This is how I taught all my kids to read. We did use the All About Ready level one readers. Also the Life of Fred readers.
@@FamilyStyleLearning Thankyou very much for promt reply. Lots of love, I will do as you suggested❤️❤️ and I hope my children will become better day by day, Insha'Allah 💓
I have a dear wonderful friend who is LDS. I love her and her family dearly. She was so kindly starting to mentor me in homeschooling because I basically had never met another homeschooler and there she was! She has been so instrumental in helping me and I value her and our friendship so much. That being said, before I knew that she recommended TGATB and I said I was hesitant because it was Mormon and I wasn’t sure I aligned with that. She then let me know she was LDS 😅and that she totally understood and gave different recommendations. She said as an explanation that on the flip side she was excited at the idea of an LDS curriculum and was disappointed in how lack luster it was in theology in general not just for LDS. So while I personally won’t use it, it’s not just because the founder is a member of the LDS church but because I want most of my curriculum to be very biblical and not watered down or even secular. That’s just me personally!
Great tip for checking out the "why I stop using" type videos Thank you
Gel Highlighters are amazing!
@@christinaalbee6874 😆😆😆
I could spend a lot here
@@christinaalbee6874 It's pretty easy to do.
We are currently doing All about reading level 1. We love it so far. Should we be doing All about spelling with it.
@@HomeschoolStudyHub typically it's recommended to be one level behind on AAS from AAR. So when you start AAR 2 add AAR1. I never actually did AAR. I thought my kids to read using AAS. The important thing is that you do what works for you.
Thank you so much for sharing! We did the Pre-K version for a very short while. It was cute and engaging but now that I know about this EVIL never again.
Thank you! We are reading this, but was wondering if you knew of an audiobook version?
@@cindismith7142 I'm surprised Litho's hasn't released an audio. They have really affordable audios. Generations also hasn't done their audio yet. Bummer. I guess I don't know but I would keep an eye on those two and expect it not too far off. The cartoon movie is pretty good too.
We just started it as well! It’s cute so far.
@@lisajeanpatterson7722 oh, yay! I would love to hear how it goes for you!
My only concern with TGATB is that it doesn't seem academically rigorous. I want my child to be drawn into the work, which TGATB seems to do well, but I want it to be meaty too. At least in math, I don't think I would use it.
Townsends looks so good! Thank you for mentioning them!
Farmer Boy is a great one for the boys, even if you don’t do the other Little House books. Maple Ridge looks like fun 😍
@@Homeschooling_with_the_Riveras Thanks. we did start it once a few years ago but never finished. We do make Almanzo's apples and onions every fall. Yum
I love how unique your suggestions are! It's so great learning about new material.
@@kaylajay741 I really love researching curriculumand sharing my favorite finds. I hope it doesn't just make people desire the "newest" thing but helps them find great options for their families. Thanks for your comment!
Very interest in the Nat Theo subscription. We enjoy her podcast
Oh my goodness! You are definitely defending yourself and I don’t think you need to. I appreciate the heads up on this and am so glad that we never came across it and didn’t renew our subscription this year. I also used it like you as a place where a child could work while I assisted the other child but these are not child friendly topics for this age group without direct supervision and discussion. Thank you for sharing this information and I will definitely be passing this along to others as well.
Thank you sister ❤
Thanks for sharing this. I look forward to my daughter learning about the real world 😊
I can’t wait to hear about the shop class.

@@FamilyStyleLearning Thank you for sharing your finds!
Thanks for your review now I Wan to get it!
I can honestly say I don't know why you don't have more subscribers. I have used almost every curriculum brand out there and you still manage to surprise me. I love your finds.
@@non-gmo ☺️😄 Thank you for putting a smile on my face!
I think I missed where you said what you DO use for history?? Megan and Katie are my good friends and I have always thought it sounds a little overwhelming for my style too so I was wanting to know what you use for History 😊
Hi Jill, Yes I tried got it because those two are great, but it wasn't for us. We tend to use a lot of unit studies and living books or shows. We just finished Living off the Land by Gather Round and really enjoyed that. Currently we are using Learning History through Literature. I also love doing Generations History as read alouds because it's about the spread of the gospel around the world. Here is a playlist to see inside more options. Hope it helps th-cam.com/play/PLGhaOjlPqik1FqI8ubfIhb6pNGju6OyYy.html
I’m so glad you are highlighting this amazing curriculum! I just joined the FB group and there are so many positive testimonials! My sweet 2nd grader seems to have a lot of math anxiety. I think I’m going to pause Saxon 2 with her and switch to these books and see how it goes. So thankful we have so many great resources available to fit our kids’ unique circumstances!
@@katrinakim4145 Absolutely, so many options! This is a great curriculum to give kids a break from the norm and then you can see if it's something that's works or if you want to go back. We love it!
Thanks. Form sounds fun
@@brendahowell5946 I think it's totally worth it! We have been really happy with it!

@@brendahowell5946 no, but we use chrome cast to get it to our tv
This sort of reminds me of Masterbooks math. Im finishing up Math w Confidence level 1 and im intrigued by this. Great review. Thanks.
@@juliequates9529 Masterbooks has a mastery approach and Generations is spiral. You'll find that Generations moves a lot faster with reviews included. We have really enjoyed it! While I appreciate Masterbooks as a company that method did not work for us. I hope you will continue looking into Generations. I think their science and history are also gold.
Great picks ! My oldest is in 1st grade and because of your videos we are doing all about spelling 1 and f.o.r.m. and are loving it! We also have life of fred but haven't started that yet (it is in our morning basket rotation)

Thank you so much for this video! Love your enthusiasm. It is so exciting to find this curriculum!
Hmm i could put the books onto yoto cards for the kids. We're starting generations this year!
Do you think the phonics volume 2 by itself is ok to do without volume 1? Also, Are each of the books supposed to be for a semester? My little one is beyond learning the basic letters and letter sounds, and is working on blends such as ch, sh, ing, ee, etc, which he already has a pretty good grasp on. So I would hate to buy volume 1 and not need it. Would these blends I mentioned plus more blends be covered in Volume 2? In reality Im looking for something to have him practice more advanced words for one semester. Lastly, does Gods story level 1 have to be purchased with the generations phonics books or can they be done separately during different times? I ask because I am looking to possibly having my son do the level 1 Gods story reading curriculum next year, and having him finish working on phonics the rest of this year. Thank you so much for your videos and responses. You are always so helpful.
@@Lglasses09 Book 2 starts with lesson 90 so I think they are designed to be done in one year but I think they could and probably should be done in two separate years. Book two does seem more advanced to me. It has dropped the y and add ies, ough, adding suffixes. You definitely could just pick up book two. None of the books have to be purchased together. You can get what you want and use it whenever you want.
Thank you Abby!
I love masterbooks! We have that exact science book. My kids love nature and my daughter loves the short lessons in this book. I’m barely getting into nature journaling with her so thanks for mentioning that tip. I got mine from Amazon from sherry hayes seasoned homeschool mom:) and YASSS nature readers from Christian liberty !!!! I just ordered mine too hehe I think I will enjoy reading this just as much as my kids.
@@josiedrake1723 thanks for commenting. I love to hear what others are using. I hope you have a great year with your science!
My oldest is currently in a Reggio Emilia preschool. I wanted her to start interacting with kids since we live in a rural area. She loves it, I love it! It’s been really great. When we start true homeschooling we might stick with it for another year or so but I’m leaning towards Charlotte Mason as well
You're 100% not annoying! LOVE your joy!
@@lisajeanpatterson7722 haha, thanks Lisa.
This was super helpful for me, as I sift through different approaches in preparation for my daughter’s first year of school. I’m a former Montessori assistant guide, so that’s definitely where I’m most comfortable and confident as a teacher. (Plus I still have some of my old materials.) Charlotte Mason really appeals to me as well, so I wonder how well the two pedagogies would play together. 🤔 If I’m not mistaken, Mason and Montessori were contemporaries, but Mason wasn’t too keen on Montessori’s approach.
@@nicolechatfield2464 I'm glad this helped in some way. Check out the book Wild and Free, your library might even have it for interlibrary loan. It goes a bit further with some of the information and a lot of the people involved with Wild and Free would classify themselves the way you are describing.
Thank you so much!! This seems like exactly what I am looking for! Great explanation and breakdown.
Thank you for this flip through. I’ve been curious and am actually considering having my little one switch over next school year. I would like to see a full flip through of math 1? Would it be possible to make a video on this? Ive seen your level 2 flip through but I would like to see a full math 1 flip through as well, to try and figure out what math level to place him in next year.
@@Lglasses09 hahaha, so we used our math one and I destroyed it! Lol. I tore out the units for my son and rebound them so he wouldn't have such a big books to use. If I can get my hands on another one I will. We really liked it!

I find it slanderous for people (not the creator by many online and in this comments section) to imply that The Good and The Beautiful should be avoided for doctrinal reasons. The publisher has gone out of her way to incorporate viewpoints of various faiths and to be extremely transparent about any content that could be associated with LDS. A simple search on the website will give you all that information. Meanwhile, there are other companies who's publishers have made horribly racist, misogynist and even abusive comments and no one has any concerns about using his curriculum.
