Glad to hear you enjoyed it. From watching the trailer it seemed to be too much of a downer for me but maybe I'll check it out still. Decided instead to go see Mask of the Phantasm for Batman Day instead last night. Awesome shirt btw.
Thanks! This doc is certainly heartbreaking in many ways but is ultimately more of an uplifting and inspiring experience.
45:33 Yes! One of my favorite sequences in the film!
35:36 I think Katherine Waterston is one of the stand-outs for me in Covenant. And Noomi Rapace for Prometheus.
1. Aliens 2. Romulus 3. Covenant 4. Prometheus 5. Alien (Need to watch all the rest.)
11:31 The androids are one of my favorite elements of the Alien movies. You never know what you're going to get.
12:02 (Special Edition of Aliens vs theatrical cut) Kameron, what do you like more about the theatrical cut (or less about the Special Edition) that makes the Special Edition not quite your preferred version of the film?
The Special Edition feels too long and everything they add is unnecessary. Some of it adds to the story and characters, but none of it feels vital enough to warrant it being my preferred version. The faster pacing of the theatrical cut lends itself to the action movie tone and genre, more than the longer cut. Also, I saw the theatrical version first and I think that plays into which version you like better too.
How was the soundtrack?
Quite good, but it still didn't beat the original.
Ben is back!
And better than ever!
Tim Burton movies: 5. Planet of the Apes 4. Batman Returns 3. Mars Attacks 2. Beetlejuice 1. Batman
Thanks for sharing!
Keep up the fun chat! I’m loving it
Thanks for watching!
alright so you do reel reviews where are all the fake ones?
Those are on our other channel: The Fake World.
@@thereelworldpodcast Where's The Link (;
Terminator movies ranked. Much like the Alien franchise the first two movies inverted are the best. But then unlike the Alien movies which are after the first two unwatchable bilge, the Terminator movies gradually become less compelling, have weaker plots and are just not as good overall. My list is as follows: 1. T2: Judgement Day 2. The Terminator 3. T3: Rise of the Machines 4. Terminator Genisys 5. Terminator Salvation 6. Terminator: Dark Fate -The Sarah Connor Chronicles is pretty good, especially when compared to what is being churned out these days.
Thank you for sharing! I highly recommend Terminator Zero on Netflix.
David here I been a movie buff for over fifty years and the owner of Movie Memories poster shop in Palo Alto California for many years, now retired. It’s a fun must see popcorn movie. In my office I have a framed reproduction, original style movie poster, that’s how much I like it.
Excellent!
David here I been a movie buff for over fifty years and I thought you did a good review. I just saw the movie for the first time on TCM, it was great! See you at the movies!🍿
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed this classic film.
Great podcast. I new to your channel, very impressive how much knowledge you guys have with Movies.
Thanks so much! We're glad you're enjoying our videos.
Great podcast/show!!!! Really informative and interesting 👍
Thank you for watching!
T2 The Terminator Dark Fate Rise Of The Machines Salvation Genisys
Thanks for sharing!
T2 extended version is a perfect movie
It is a great alternate version, but I still like the theatrical cut better.
Really cool
Thanks! It's among my personal favorite box sets I have in my collection.
I think the special edition cut of aliens is worth mentioning ripley's daughter, hudson's "ultimate badasses" speech, hicks and ripley exchanging first names, the sentry guns the only thing i would say is that i think cutting the scene of the colony before the xenomorph's take over is a justified cut, not seeing how the xenomorph's took over and later hearing it directly from ripley and burke that HE ordered the colonists to find the ship and sealing their doom makes it all that much more impactful.
All great points! I still think the theatrical cut is superior, but I do appreciate a lot about the special edition.
Christopher Reeve is Superman, thank you, goodnight...
Superman: "I'm here to fight for truth, justice, and the American way." Lois Lane: "You're gonna end up fighting every elected official in this country!"
1. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool (Deadpool & Wolverine) 2. Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man (Spider-Man 3) 3. Kevin Conroy as Batman (Batman: Mask of the Phantasm) 4. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (Deadpool & Wolverine) 5. Chris Evans as Captain America (Captain America: The First Avenger) 6. Ben Affleck as Batman (Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice) 7. Henry Cavill as Superman (Man of Steel) 8. Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern (Green Lantern) 9. Christopher Reeve as Superman (Superman) 10. Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern (Justice League: War)
Thanks for sharing your picks!
1. Aliens 2. Alien 3. Romulus 4. Prometheus 5. A tie of all the other moves I don’t care to watch again. 6. Resurrection dumbest movie I’ve ever watched.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Alien movies ranked: 1. Aliens 2. Alien I choose to live in a pretend world where none of the other Alien movies were ever made. Whether they are painful, borderline unwatchable movies made about the Alien franchise or gosh awful crossover A vs P movies merging two great sci fi franchises. The A vs P movies had more potential than Usain Bolt at a junior varsity track meet, c'mon man!! I could have odeed on bath salts and come up with better stuff than either of the two installments that the fans were offered, js.
My collection only includes the first two, so I'm with ya on the Alien sequels. I'm curious what your thoughts on Alien: Romulus will be.
Really fun episode. Love hearing how you describe and deconstruct the content of such a plethora of films so clearly.
Thanks! We want to do more of these in the future!
Ben wastes money on films??? 😂😂😂
No such thing, right?!
1.Alien 3 2.Alien 3.Prometheus 4.Resurrection 5.Covenant 6.Aliens
Interesting! We appreciate you sharing this with us!
1. Aliens 2. Alien 3. Romulus 4. Prometheus 5. Covenant 6. AVP 7. Alien 3 8. Resurrection 9. AVP: Requiem
Great! Thanks for sharing!
Plot twist movies: 1 Planet of the Apes 2 Psycho 3 No way out 4 Soylent Green 5 The Sixth Sense 6 A Perfect Getaway 7 Momento 8 Now you see me 9 Strangers on a Train 10 Predestination Honorables: Lockout Secret Window The Prestige Book of Eli Salt Presumed Innocent 12 Monkeys -I still need to see Gone Girl. -Just watched Predestination, it is bonkers. -I've thought about Sunset Boulevard and the opening scene/monolog being at the end, not saying that would make it better, as is it's probably in my top 25 all time but I think it would bring another level of perspective/twist.
I liked Strangers on a Train and considered it. Not a fan of Now You See Me. I need to watch A Perfect Getaway.
I'm hoping to see it this weekend. Which if any of the prior films do you recommend watching beforehand? I'm also sensing you didn't enjoy Prometheus all too much.
You don't need to see any of them, but if you watch one I'd recommend you go with Ridley Scott's "Alien" (1979). I'm not a fan of any of the Alien movies outside of the original and it's sequel "Aliens" from James Cameron.
@@thereelworldpodcast OK good to know because I can't remember anything that happened during Prometheus or Covenant, and I was dreading having to rewatch them just for this. And yes, agreed Alien & Aliens are the two best in the series.
Like that you liked it 😉and yes seen it and it’s awesome 👏🏻
Excellent!
What a waste of time. WE ALL KNOW WHO STEVEN IS! What we want to know is HOW GOOD DOES THE BLU-RAY LOOK COMPARED TO THE DVD AND IS IT WORTH THE UPGRADE. I can see why you have no comments in a year. This video is a totally useless waste of time. Thumbs way down. Up for a year and only 85 views. I wonder why.
Director's cut movies: Batman vs Superman: DOJ Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Justice League: The Snyder Cut Star Trek: The Motion Picture -I would love to see the Rogue Cut, I didn't know it existed. -I would like to see the Donner cut Superman and the directors cut of The Abyss. -Also would like to see the alternate version of I am Legand.
Great picks! I want to see the director's cut of both Star Trek films.
Impressive collection! I was especially glad to hear you're a fan of the George Reeves Adventures of Superman show which is completely awesome. Those sets are out of print as far as I am aware so hang on to those! Also a huge devotee of the original Filmation DC shorts and the Hanna-Barbera Superfriends, although do you have the sets for the rest of those runs? The Ruby Spears Superman deserves some more love. It's not a great show but it's a very solid and fun mid-level show. Do you collect Superman comics?
This is all I've got. I do collect comics and most of them are Superman comics.
Incredible selection with some that I need to check out as well. Arabian Nights is an absolute classic that I love and that blu-ray is phenomenal. Kino also put out a Maria Montez/John Hall set featuring some of their other more obscure movies similar to Arabian Nights if you're into those classic adventure films.
I'll look into that! I also want to get Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and Son of Ali Baba to complete the "trilogy".
Great video, very well done. I absolutely love this show. There are so many great episodes and so many that are just solid as well. Totally agree on a lot of these especially The Man Who Killed Batman, Heart of Ice, Two-Face, Beware the Grey Ghost, and especially I Am the Night which is superb. I really adore a lot of the street-level crime episodes that would never get made nowadays in a series like this: Appointment in Crime Alley, Paging the Crime Doctor, and Cape and Cowl Conspiracy. Harlequinade is also a favorite of mine even if it is a bit silly but it's the appropriate way to execute a farcical episode in this world. I would also put If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich? on there just because I love this version of the Riddler and watched the VHS of that one over and over again as a kid. BTW, if you're ever interested in collaborating on a podcast or cross-promoting our channels, let me know!
Thanks! Those are some great picks. I will certainly consider a collab.
Great review. To be honest, I've fallen off the wagon with these DC animated movies over the years but the Crisis ones piqued my interest, yet I still avoided them. You guys seem to be legit comic fans, especially of DC which is great, so I'll take your word and give these a try. Crisis was a huge milestone for me in getting into comics in the first place when I bought the TPB years ago and still means a lot to me for making me a lifelong DC fan.
I think watching all three together will be a more rewarding experience. I'm excited to revisit all the films in the DC TomorrowVerse in the future.
I really had a blast with this movie. Much better overall compared to Knock at the Cabin for sure. The lack of twist was a surprise but I was impressed with its ability to maintain tension and suspense throughout. Also it cannot be overstated how Josh Hartnett's charm and charisma carries this movie all the way.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Guys THANK YOU, nice friendly conversation with good movies and good explanations why you picked your movie plus you did not undercut the others choice 😀. Thanks for this and the few movies I didn’t know and certainly will watch next. 🙇🏼♂️🙇🏼♂️
We appreciate your comment and support!
1:35:29 E.T. and Hook as well. And this is just an absolutely beautiful piece: "Dartmoor, 1912" from Warhorse th-cam.com/video/6y8pXlTducQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sE_iXJSBZyAP1P1c
Awesome video, just found your channel and subbed. I picked up quite a few Criterions throughout the month, honestly should have vlogged it. Best ones I got were Diabolique & Arsenic and Old Lace that I've watched. Looking forward to exploring more of your videos!
Also would love to hear what you thought of Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid. Not a particularly big fan of that movie but I'm curious to see if a rewatch on a better quality copy would enhance the experience for me
@@Cinecrisis Thanks! I plan on doing a video on that movie soon.
👏👏👏🎬
Totally agree with Karson on I Am Legend. I was so happy when I watched the alternate ending for the first time. But Karson’s analysis especially sold it for me now
I agree! I was on the other side before hearing his reasoning, but now I'm sold on it!
I could listen to you guys all day!
We appreciate your support!
Man I need to watch The Rogue Cut! I really enjoyed the original cut if I remember correctly, but the rogue cut sounds much better
The theatrical cut is fine, but I think The Rogue Cut is EXCELLENT!
“They digitally removed his lips and put them on his dad’s face” is a crazy quote
It really is. That's the magic of movies!
Snyder's cut wasn't better, just more. Don't forget the black & white attempted redemption cut. DC tried to top/catch up to the MCU. Justice League could have been awesome, but should have concentrated on one story thread and expanded in subsequent movies. Just like Bat v Sup, it tried too hard.
I disagree, but thanks for sharing your thoughts!
The Director's Cut of Kingdom of Heaven is one of the best out there. A big difference from the theatrical release and a far superior film.
Yes!! It's the only version I'll watch.
I totally love franchises for the sake of getting to keep moving with the characters I love for more than just one film. However, being a part of a franchise cannot be an excuse to make a mediocre film. The films must be great on their own so we can enjoy when they connect or continue. Exhibit a: the Toy Story franchise. So far, I have been against the creation of every new Toy Story film thinking it was complete before, but every new film they have presented a great standalone story that I would not have expected but can’t imagine not being included now that I have seen it. As far as crossovers go, I really think Spider-Man has done a great job with it, especially in Across the Spider-Verse when we had the cameos of past Spider-Men accentuate the emotional weight already built within the film, without relying on the cameos. If franchises like the MCU would be more like that, creating fantastic films that can build on each other without relying on previous content, we wouldn’t have Marvel fatigue, but would still be as excited as we were for the original MCU movies.
These are great thoughts! The Toy Story films are a good example. Most of the early MCU movies did this quite well, too. I think letting filmmakers realize their vision is the key to all of this. Every movie I like, even ones in a franchise, started with a passionate director who had a story he wanted to tell. Movies made by committee rarely work and are never as memorable or compelling as ones with a singular vision. Big-budget studio filmmaking is very collaborative, but it's about all of the individuals in each of the departments uniting behind a director's vision. Man of Steel, The Batman, Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Unbreakable are all films I find to be the best examples of the comic book genre, and most of those were successful, but they can also be the most divisive. Still, I'd rather a film fail critically or at the box offie because the artist told an odd, layered, character-focused, thematic story with integrity, than watch a bland, empty, formulaic, nostalgia-driven, corporate product made for mass appeal. One is more of a risk and the other is safer, but one will stand the test of time, and the other will be forgotten.
