    does anyone use a v4 engine? It looks like it would fit. Also if you have not already look into spit throttles or at least power(fuel and/or ignition)cut to cylinder 1 and 2 for better part throttle power delivery.

    • @NixonMotorsports
      @NixonMotorsports 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have not seen anyone using a V4 engine, as long as it is a motorcycle engine at no more than 1000cc it is allowed. On trick fuel and ignition trims or other we do use as you see Motec ECU and have tons of options like that. For example I have two injectors per cylinder (one in the throttle bodies and one 6-7” above the throttle body blades). I have different injector timing because of delay based on length. This allows for some extra power and fuel savings. A fun topic, the F1000 running in FA class allows a lot of freedom for such ideas. Cheers

      @@NixonMotorsports you should look into how world super bike use their motec systems to improve traction on their 1000cc engines. Your engine has Ti rods because wsbk will not let you change your rods therefor a true homologation special. The new fireblade features split throttle on the 2024 even though it is banned is wsbk. Most if not all the teams in British and world use motec so motec is the way to go with these 1000s. Personally i think the ducati v4 and honda i4 are the best power wise and bmw is very close with some clever tech (shift cam) for better mid range. I would love to know why you chose 4 into 1 headers instead of tri y. have you tested both? I know all super bikes and nascar use tri y and f1 used to use 4 into 1 as well as formula atlantic. I know 4 into is more compact which explains f1 since they alpine was recently running unequal length. If you can try to talk to the super bike guys since they will have proper factory cnc porting programs which you might be able to get your hands on. A ducati v4 would suit the ferrari livery very well.

    I understand that you have chosen a zx10r and the majority uses a zx10r or gsx1000rr with one or two using s1000rr but why. Why did you choose zx10r. Why are there so few with other engines eg. bmw and why does nobody use a honda engine.

    • @NixonMotorsports
      @NixonMotorsports 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question, for me I selected the ZX10R only because I knew I could purchase dry sump kits for the engine. My guess, any one of the modern super bike 1k engines would work very well. There is packaging to also consider, meaning how well will the engine fit in the bay and such. In my circle here in the US, majority of F1000 and P1 race cars are using ZX10R. Cheers

    • @NixonMotorsports
      @NixonMotorsports หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well if you are asking how expensive to get into Formula Atlantics like my car you would expect a starting cost of $40,000-$80,000 for the car. Spares and equipment of course in addition. You can spend well over $150,000 for a pro car like a Swift 016 or a F3 car. I like you love the way the engine sounds and how fast I can shift up/down. It is a proper race car for sure. I hope this answers what you are looking for if not let me know. Cheers

    • @NixonMotorsports
      @NixonMotorsports หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do believe simulators are important for drivers. Here are a few examples. 1. Help you memory map a new track, finding its rhythm. 2. Allow you to experiment with many driving lines. 3. Allow you to drive trimmed out or with various df settings and overall chassis settings to determine ideal setup. 4. Overall a great tool to work on your race craft

    Mark, I have a question about your racecar. I've got a bike engine with a pneumatic piston for gear shifts. I have troubles getting in neutral from first gear. • @NixonMotorsports

      I did not regear, it seems fine with no need. The 392 has more than enough power to handle it in my opinion. If I recall correctly my lift install cost was about $1700 where I purchased the parts beforehand. You can add 37’s and no lift, my wheels are -18mm so that may help but with no lift I had no clearance issues on the road. You could use the stock wheels with 37’s with the lift for sure. Cheers

    ****How much fir Spectators to attend? It seems the sport would be encouraged if better exposure was utilized. Do you ever take your car to a carshow?

      US Majors does not have large spectator turn out in general. Depending on the event. For example I will be racing next month at Road America and there will be close to 500 race cars entered. Spectators attendance should be good plus it will be streamed live. Make sure you watch for that race weekend, I will of course bring you along. Cheers

    Very interesting...the high tech version of what we run...gsxr750s in a TQ midget. Do you run an external electric crank case vacuum pump? In addition to the dry sump vacuum contribution. Worth about 4-6hp in a 750. 5HP is 5HP!

      Thanks for the note. No, we do not use any external vacuum pump only dry sump. For grins, maybe I can add a sensor logging crankcase pressure to see where the engine is and go from there. Good note I thank you for this, cheers

    do you use the data to create better mechanical design solutions to close the performance gap?

    Do you use data to improve your mechanical designs?

      @NixonMotorsports 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Data helps you everywhere. Lower speeds (mechanical) and higher speeds (aero). The list of what data shows you is extensive and can become overwhelming to some. But data is absolutely a need for any race car in my opinion. I hope that answers your question. Cheers

      Thanks for the reply. Apologies for the late response. I am a researcher at a tech company, and what's interesting is how to reduce the overwhelming issue of big data for mechanical engineers, for example, and how to use the data to influence design decisions. For example, how can we use real-world data to optimize a part to reduce the performance gap? By the way, this video was informative. There isn't much information on data engineers or performance engineers.

      @@nickysixx2480 Data can be overwhelming for many people I find. But back to using data to influence design decisions. I have always thought what is needed is software that can predict based line setups, design changes considerations and such. So many things can affect peak performance it can be overwhelming for sure. AI technology comes into play here I suspect. On my race car I have hundreds of channels collected and logs as I believe I mentioned. Anyhow, fun thinking. Cheers

    Hello, Mark. I’ve been, recently, researching engine compartment thermal load mitigation. Furthermore, I have noted conversations about Inconel. I intend to nip the, unnecessary, evil of “ heat soak ” in the bud. ‘ Hypothetical question : Realizing the expense and malleability of this extraordinary material ; what do you suppose the result would be if one were to have fabricated a laser-accurate ( glove-like ) custom lining of an entire Jeep Gladiator engine compartment, to include the hood ? Before I tackle the engine, itself proper, I would like to [ effectively and efficiently ], facilitate that undertaking. I will not be deterred by the heat of Nevada and Arizona. Thanks, for your consideration.

      Well lining the entire lining of a engine compartment would be something. Inconel is extremely good in shielding heat, the only thought that comes to mind is I suspect controlling heat at its source (headers) would be a very effective way to control engine bay heat. By lining the engine compartment that would cost a fortune but ignoring that you would still want to have the headers (exhaust) done to manage heat away from the engine. I would also suggest not only the headers but exhaust down pipes further away from the engine. If you happen to have a built engine, say turbo that is a super high heat source as you most likely know. Interesting comment and idea, let me know how you proceed if you would. Cheers

    Your BEST Video yet! GREAT video work by Michael!!! I Love your approach! If you haven't tried something, you just don't know how it will affect your car I'm sure you will crack into 1:44 I'm hoping someday you will break into 1:43 or even 1:42 One basic comment, I think everything on the exterior of the body will affect drag I keep looking at that saw toothed "windshield" and thinking that must be creating noticeable vortexes Maybe something smoother along the top edge and possibly angled back might be less disruptive If it could even be contoured down into the body shape or at least much less vertical and still be within regulations, and that should produce less drag Also, those exterior antenna hockey pucks on the front body, I wonder if those could those be recessed flush into the body line? I only bring these up as minor improvements to your total aerodynamic drag As I understand it, even simple race car drag begins to have a noticeable affect starting at 50 or 60 mph, and at 130-140 mph, every little bit may be significant Best of luck with your quest to improve lap times I'll be watching and rooting for you!!!
