    I keep hearing people say these can be connected to a PC. I have Star Wars Trilogy Arcade running great on my PC and I want to play with a controller stick similar to the arcade. Right now I’m using a ps5 game pad which works, but just isn’t the same & you don’t get the same precision. Do you know what I’d need to connect one of these to my PC? Is that even doable without losing your religion in the process?

      Buy a zero delay encoder and follow the rest of the steps in the video and you can connect it to a PC

    So, the final order from best to worst in terms of latency is: - Atari-Commodore 9-pin Game Port (less than 1 ms). - PC 15-pin Game Port (about 3-5 ms). - USB 2.0 Port (about 11-17 ms, including all additional delays). Therefore, the Atari-Commodore 9-pin game port has the lowest latency, followed by the PC 15-pin game port, and the USB 2.0 port has the highest latency among the listed interfaces. Due to the significant latency of the USB bus with the connected mouse and keyboard, as well as the additional delay of the USB joystick controller itself, many people have simply stopped playing arcade games and fighting games. They no longer enjoy playing such games. Most of these people couldn't even understand what exactly happened and why their favorite games no longer attract them.

    Thanks for doing this. I appreciate the description of how to wire the 1 and 2 buttons. I am looking for direction on how to wire the four micro switches on the base of this to a usb encoder. You show this wired up at the end but do not describe where each goes. I assume there is an Up, Down, Left, Right on the encoder, but am not sure how to determine that. Thanks

    • @topgunarcade
      @topgunarcade ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on what encoder you have, each one should have a diagram showing you all the inputs. Zero delay has a diagram lables which wires would be up,down,left,right. The joystick Depending orientation will have the corresponding micro switches for each direction. If you don't know you can simply use trial and error to determine. I hope this helps you out.

I hope each encoder board has room for two directional input devices or at least hope it can be daisy chained cause I dont mind if they share same input line i just want to use a flight stick for after burner extc.. • @topgunarcade
      @topgunarcade 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @patrickjones2843 most encoders usually have 4 inputs for direction. Some come as a dual for player 1 and 2.

    Thank you for showing each game. Much appreciated. Although I have to say the arcade section seems small and a random selection. It doesn't seem like they are using the space effectively and could put a ton more machines in that arcade space. The hallway should be lined with arcade cabinets. Not just empty space.

    Thanks for the video. I am planning on adding one of these to an arcade fightstick with a 4 way joystick for some retro gaming and I was wondering if I can bypass the pcb board that this comes with and connect it directly to a controller interface like the iPac 2. I just want one USB cable coming out from the arcade stick, like a normal fighting stick does and I don´t want to add an USB hub because of possible added lag and needing extra electrical power. This spinner seems to be the best for this type of application since it is short but it seems that it is married to it´s own pcb interface... I hope that I can find a way to use it in my arcade stick.

    • @topgunarcade
      @topgunarcade ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd have to probably cut the ribbon cable as it has a proprietary plug. Then you would have to solder the other end to a usb cable and plug into a computer to see if it would even detect it as a mouse. Same going into an ipac. I don't think it would know it's a mouse. I don't think you would get any lag. Unless you are playing at a world record pace you would never tell.

    • @cbaxter6527
      @cbaxter6527 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@topgunarcade Don't do it. SciWinder is a 5 pin connect and Ipac is a 4 pin connect (5V, Gnd, A, B). It is not USB but a 2-phase or 3-phase on/off pulse signal rotary encoder. I did my own spinner with Arduino micro-controller using ATmega32U4 MCU. There are dozens of MCUs that is what the little square chip on the board does, pulses to USB.

    These arcade machines break not worth owning they are complete garbage they make you lose money if your not putting them in stores to make money I’m not very sure if anyone would pay money to play them since arcade no longer rule the world of video games anymore as they used to that’s when I bought a couple of them all they did was break over and over there is nothing anyone can do to stop them from breaking sometimes it’s the plus then it could be the Monitor or the joystick or buttons I still have them I repaired them I put them away I now play on arcade 1 ups that don’t break once but looking at these arcade machines just reminds me of nightmares it’s broken need to call someone to fix them

    • @topgunarcade
      @topgunarcade ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the price you pay to keep 40 yr old machines in service. It's amazing that people make parts to rebuild these machines. If you grew up in the 80's era you for sure don't want these machines to die. It's places like the strong museum that allow us to have some of this wonderful nostalgia before all these machines are gone forever.
