    Hi Ursa I have a question here. I am working in Australia where 1.85 days of leave accure every month for 12 months adding upto total 22days per year including weekends is 30 days. For example in Australia what I am doing -Started working in January and wish to go for Holidays in June where my leave accure is half only 11 working days - I can apply apply for the leave of 11 days and ask for 4 unpaid hloidays to make it as 15(working) days of holidays give me a full 3 three week of holidays - as I need to travel to India everytime to visit my family and I can do the same again when applying holidays in December with remaining 11 days accured until december. I can understand about holiday payment by following year in norway , whereas in Australia payment is following your annual leave or in between the annual leave as per pay cycle

    As a Norwegian, I think this is probably the worst aspect of our labour system. I remember when I had just started my first job, and after getting my first two monthly paychecks, I was suddenly shocked to find that the third one was completely absent because of the Feriepenger system. The system is really only a form of forced saving, because you're still getting money based on the labour you've put into your work, but some of that money is held back for one year. The rule about half tax in December is also forced saving, because it's not like it means you pay less tax overall, it just means it is shifted to the other months. It would be much simpler and easier for everyone if we abolished both of these rules.

    It's quite silly, after all, the citizens of Norway are required to pay a miniscule amount of taxes to cover "everything". And then they hardly have to pay for anything medical after that? Ouch!

      In an EU country, for example, your holiday money would be paid out as a bonus or divided over a couple of months. In Norway, it is accumulated all together and paid out once. And it`s also part of your salary, as the employers pay the same amount; it`s just paid out differently. Hope this helps, but it is indeed quite confusing. ;)

      On average they take about 75-80% of your income (pension), but you always have a free income they will never take away (around 280 dollars a month in 2022), but then everything else is covered, food, health care, rent etc, Savings cannot be part of the charging.

      Not quite, you have to be a tax payer or child of one. If you move here but have yet to pay any taxes you're *not* given free health care just yet and still need a health care insurance. It's a real problem that people who don't get a work permit has to pay for healthcare. Students are covered by a different scheme. People on welfare (that's also a right earned through the tax system) pays taxes on their welfare and is therefore also eligible for both welfare and health care. But immigrants have neither right till they've paid taxes for a bit.

    • @Gran_Torino
      @Gran_Torino ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kilde. I am Norwegian, and will answer for you. In Ursa's example, let's say you make 1,000,000 kroners per year before taxes. That is about 100,000 euros per year before taxes. On your whole salary you will pay 328,000 kroners in taxes, meaning 32.8% taxes. But that is before deductibles. For example, you have deductibles for things like interest rates on loans, gifts to charities, day care for children etc. However, as Ursa explained in the video, there are different tax brackets. So you pay a higher percent of tax the more money you make. For example, if your income is 500,000 kroner per year before taxes, or 50,000 euros before taxes, you pay 123,598 kroner in taxes per year. That is 24,71% taxes.
