Root Cellar In the South with high water Table
มุมมอง 883 หลายเดือนก่อน
How I built my Root Cellar. Water Table during the 3 year Drought is at 4 foot 8 inches. The root Cellar is 6 feet. I have 2 inches of Crack proof Concrete for the floor. Everyone thinks it will fill up with water what the water table rises. I suppose they don't understand what the Tarp is for. The Water Table during non Drought years is usually about 2 foot 6 inches.

We have added a few things since the last video. A Rabbit Grow out hut and a Dock for the pond. Everything is growing. The Berkshire Hogs have a pasture now. They are still Separated . They are a mating pair. Timing will be October when we let them be together so we have Piglets in January for spring and Summer sales. The Welsh Harlequin Ducks are happy, the chickens are laying eggs like crazy....

I have better success using spaghnum moss instead of peat moss.
@@highplainsdrifter9197 yes spaghnum peat moss. I will certainly clarify in October when I make the video of opening the roots and planting. It is pretty easy to see that I am using spaghnum peat moss in the video.
not sure where you are buying your trees from, but you should stop. there is not even a red delicious apple anywhere on your property and who sells seed started trees ? that's a new one as that's the worst way to start an orchard at home.
@@sethsmith9999 actually we have one red delicious. We have bought trees from tree farms, Lowes, Home Depot, roses and many other places. We have about 90 fruit trees. Only about a dozen are what was on the label. So far Roses have been the most reliable. Still not 100 percent.
My kinda (BONAfide) man no gloves no overkill hygiene just get after it! I haven’t found anyone who describes how much cambium to remove: he does! Your daughter did a wonderful job filming too!😮 where are you located?🙏🙏🙏
@@1cleandude thank you for your remarks. The camera girl is my wife. I decided to do this video due to so many incomplete instructions and as you say overkill hygiene that is unnecessary.

Good morning buddy. Thanks for sharing this video on the this subject.
Love the pond is it a natural water settlement or did you make it yourself? Seem very self-sufficient to me
@@geriannroth449 I dug it myself. It is self sufficient to some degree. It is fed by its own well, the overflow goes down the stream I made with cement back to the well.
Your volume on this video is abit low, but I'm still enjoying the tour. You've got a lovely farm. Ralph is cute, too. He seems friendly.
Do you have any issues with the critters or birds eating your fruits?😊
@@geriannroth449 mostly insects. We spray neem oil until harvest time.
Best of luck to you growing food with all those "teenagers" around.
@@CStoph1979 the teenagers in the neighborhood don’t mess with my stuff. I know all of their parents. They just ride their dirt bikes and 4 wheelers up and down the road
Stead of cutting down the trees with bad fruit have you considered cutting them off a few feet tall and stump grafting a variety you like with 3 or 4 scions. That way you save the seedling root system?
@@allenferry9632 we will be doing that in the spring with several of the bad fruit trees
Agreed prepare your containers with loose rich potting mix & predig your hole in it for the airlayered rooted branch before cutting off the mother tree. Remember only seed grown plants can have tap roots Not airlayered plants.
@@geriannroth449 thank you for the correction. I am new to making these types of videos. I get a bit anxious trying to cover as much as possible. No edit. All raw footage. I’ll ad this to the result video.
@thomasbona5079 Hey, I've seen so many videos from various TH-cam channels, and really, you're doing a fantastic job. This raw, unedited version is natural, not feeling staged like some.
@@geriannroth449 Thank you.
You can use some zip or cable ties too to strap on that pod securely
@@geriannroth449 I tried zip ties. It works and I prefer electric tape
Good morning new to the channel we came across your video of your design and building of your Rosella I really do like the idea of using the tarp for the water table to keep it dry. I am Tim from Liam and Tim's coy we like the video we subscribed and can't wait to see more videos 😁
Our fish ponds are built pretty much the same way only without the wood and concrete. They also have their own shallow water wells.
This was part of the timing chain job. You won’t need to take the valve cover off but you will need to take the intake off.
Those are fun on the incline. I like to put the hands behind the head and do a full spinal extension at the top, hold, and then return slow. Or bear hug a 45lb plate. You're going to be a little gorilla by the time you're done!
How often are you pushing yourself to muscle failure like this? That's some infantry shit there. Curr Ahee!
Nice core stabilization during those leg flexion exercises! The look on your face after the presses at 10:43 is hilarious. Lookin good!!
Jessica said you'll get more views if you do it in your undies like the before/after photos!

Incline sit ups are simply to get the heart rate up. I could do jumping jacks but, more abdominal work.
That's not bullet proof lol? 😅 just cause you can bare the pain doesn't mean you're not hurting yourself.
It doesn’t hurt at all. My whole life I have done it. I am a mechanic.

But why though?
My knees are bullet proof so to speak. All of my life they would say, wait until you are my age. Well, I am way past that now and still doing it.
If only people channeled that desperation into better legislation so we didn’t have to stress about every penny because our lives wouldn’t be so commodified
It’s a way of life. Too many are consumers and few are producers.
Wow.. that’s awesome . Where did you learn to do this?
It was a long road traveled. Nothing on the internet for our climate. We killed many trees and plants until we figured out the way through good old trial and error.
Nothing but respect! keep it up
