With a freezer stuffed full of sockeye and coho, I wanted to get a few trout to smoke so I don't have to share my salmon with the dog. He's not picky :) Fun morning with my brother and Russ Elgin of Elgin Fishing. Only so many more decent weekends left before fall turns ugly and winter sets in. #hobiefishing #camanomarine #MacksLure #elginfishing
Lake Wenatchee Sockeye 2024 Hobie Pro Angler 14

3 say fishing/camping trip to Lake Wenatchee. Had a great time and got into some fish as well. For the journey these fish make to get to this lake, they cut surprisingly well. With a record sockeye return this year, if you can get up there and have some fun with it. All fish were caught between 60-90 feet. 70 feet at first light seemed best, ignore those masses you see under 70ft, they aren't b...

Probably my only trip up to Baker Lake this year due to house projects and trips planned the rest of the summer. It's always worth getting up there even when the fishing isn't great. 2 nice sockeye and one that almost qualified as a kokanee as it was just over 18 inches. #hobiefishing #camanomarine #MacksLure

First great Spring weekend, and wanted to do a little trout fishing on my favorite trout lake. Macks Lure Smile Blade Fly and a Double Whammy that was tipped with a gulp crawler trailing a Sling Blade and Double D Dodger, dragging my gear 5ft off bottom. Got done just as all the water hooligans started showing up. #hobiefishing #MacksLure #camanomarine

Once again fished the Lake Stevens Kokanee Derby. IT's a fun event and always nice to see people I don't get to chat with often. Did well on numbers, just couldn't find any larger fish. Felt like I caught the same fish 10 times. #hobiefishing #camanomarine

Very windy day on Lake Samish. About 3 times I almost pulled my lines up and headed in. Many fish hooked were almost straight out to either side of the kayak. I was getting blown around everywhere. When it would calm, the fishing was fantastic. It did however take 24 fish on to land my 10, Elgin Fishing God's Tooth Spoon in Fire Tiger and 50/50 Blue put all of the fish in my bag. All fish were ...

Last Kokanee trip for the year for some pre-spawn kokanee, also got a few of next year's fish as well that were looking like 2024 might be a good year. After a lot of Sockeye, Pink, and Coho fishing recently it was nice to get back on the lake. #hobiefishing #MacksLure #EglinFishing #camanomarine

Fun morning on the Duwamish casting/jigging for Pink with a 1/2 ounce Mack's Lure Sonic Baitfish. I always enjoy using and producing with something different than what everyone else is using. Give these a try for pinks, worked very well for me. #hobiefishing #camanomarine #MacksLure

Had to change my plans last minute, so headed out to the Keystone/Ft. Casey area for a quick morning of Pink Salmon Fishing. Lots of Pinks in Puget Sound right now and it's a great fishery for those that don't have access to a boat. The fish are just as available from many beaches around Puget Sound.

Very windy and choppy morning, barely fishable out of a kayak. DUe to this we fished far away from the typical Lake Wenatchee fishing grounds so we stayed out of everyone's way. Was not able to control the kayak at all, in fact used a paddle to help dig into a turn, or to keep from turning in to oncoming traffic. It was a real work out. Sir do you have a video on the installation of your down-riggers. Thanks
Nicely Done Sir!
Nice fish including the bass!!! Beautiful day!
Great fishing with you, good weather and action!😃
Nice!
Nice trout😂
Do you let it sink long?
@@BilboSandbaggins about a 5 second count before I start the retrieve
What Tide do you recommend?
Ever fished there around this time of year?
What bait / lure r u using
Im hoping to go saturday hopefully the bites still good in 3 days !! Unless its super eindy then maybe ill do brewster
@@krisscalero1699 Good luck! Hope you get into them
Great 3 day video of some excellent sockeye action! Terrific job Josh!!!
Looks like an epic trip. Can I ask what days this was filmed?
@@dbfishing8588 August 5th, 6th, and 7th
@@JoshHoines Thank you.
Just fished Goodwin today at the end of july, was surprised how good the fishing was. Landed 6 rainbows from 12" to 16" and had a huge smallmouth break me off. Was trolling black leeches off a dodger, only thing that worked. Never had smallmouth hit trolled trout gear before.
Morning I was watching your Video using braid were you using a bumper between the braid and dodger?
@@jeffthrower4981 Yea using braid, no bumper
Let's goooooooooo good work
Excellent work my friend!!!😊
Breathe bro! 😂
Awesome Job Josh!
Hi Josh. Enjoyed video. Could you tell me if you used half or full coon shrimp? Thanks.
Hey Josh. What OZ weight and did you only fish with the Gods Tooth lures and not Hoochies?
No weight, I was using downriggers. Yes this day only God's Tooth Spoons
Are you launching from the boat ramp?
yes. Really the only place to launch on Lake Samish
Congrats Josh, really glad to hear the God's tooth got it done! Love the video!!!😃
Great video. I'll be there a bunch in my canoe setup. Out for three months with broken leg. This will be time well spent
Planning for a 2024 first time Baker Sockeye trip. What areas of the rather long lake can you recommend? Noisy Creek? Shannon Creek? Anything down south?
Noisey creek does hold the most fish. I know some do well down by the dam, and ive done well before between panorama point and swift creek
Thanks for this. I'll be going out there Wednesday now that I have the parts for my Outback
It was nice meeting you in the morning glad to see you got some
Nice fish and a beautiful day!😃
Nicely done despite the challenges
Awesome video. What depth did you find them at?
All over. 3 at 9ft, 1 at 15ft, 2 at 25ft, 3 at 40ft, 1 at 50ft.
Great job Josh!!! Enjoyed the video! 🙂
What about the Mack’s lure? What’s the leader length for this one if you don’t mind me asking
I pretty much run 12 inches on everything. Sometimes very early in the year, up to end of March I might run 16 inches
@@JoshHoines thank you so much. I’ll keep this in mind when running Mack’s lures and God’s tooth.
i usually run 12 inches
just curious on what leader length you normally run with those god tooth spoons. the silver and blue is my go to lure. caught many fish on that lure. thanks for the video 👍
I was also there that morning (5/5/2024) on a white fishing kayak. I launched about 0730 with decent weather, but it got hectic later on like you mentioned. I managed to hook 6 huge kokanee at 15 feet and called it a day around 10am. Hope to see you out there.
Yea it got ugly quick that morning
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I live close to Lake Sammamish but have never fished for Kokanee. Going to give it a shot now. One last thing - looks like you may have been running two poles at once ...be careful as Lake Sammamish is an excluded body of water for two pole fishing. wdfw.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2019-02/Two-PoleEndorsementException.pdf
Dude nice work, I'm a local and would love to join you sometime out there!
Do you re-rig the God's tooth with a double hook system or leave as is? Do you tip with corn or maggot?
Yes I do re-rig with a double hook set up. Can also buy them already kokanee rigged from Reli Lures online. I use corn. one on each hook. Elgin Fishing has a tutorial video on TH-cam on how to kokanee rig, or can find it on their web site as well.
@JoshHoines thanks, yes I did watch that on their site, that's what got me wondering if you re-rigged them. Thanks again!
what is the average size of the kokes coming out of there this year? last year They were really small.
12-14 inches
I was just curious what leader length are using on those God tooth spoons. I usually run mine at 16 inches. Just wondering what other people are doing. With two number two split drop shot hooks. A little tip: if you tie your back hook on a little bit further and use a piece of 20 pound braid. It just whips around in the water and it usually sticks them in the side of the face so you lose a lot less fish have to be careful though. They are not very good if you’re doing a lot of catch and release.
Awesome job Josh despite the horrendous wind and rollers!!! Congrats on your limit!😃
Inwish all salmon in the rivers were as aggressive as pinks and wish pinks ran every year lol
I bet parking gonna be a disaster next season 😪
What reels were you using? Thanks for the video!
one is a KastKing ReKon and the other a Okuma Magda
Do you prefer the cutthroat out of there over the rainbows? I imagine they taste better because they're fry when planted.
Ive only caught a few cutthroat over the years there. I think most wind uo as smallmouth food. The rainbows there lose the nasty stocker taste pretty quickly as there is so much natural feed in the lake.
@@JoshHoines hmm that's interesting. I figured there would be decent numbers of them. I have recently been keeping small mouths. They make great fish tacos, they're not like large mouth.
on my way there this friday, hope to get accidental smallies as well
Excellent video Josh! Love to see you catch bass trolling!
Thank you for the video. What was the size range of the trout you caught? Were they fry planted?
14-16 inches. I frequently catch fish 20+ there. Its a mix of fry, catchables, and they also plant 6ish inch fish in the fall
Thank you!
Nice job Josh
Awesome as always
How did you rig up the hum dinger with 2 hooks?
Just like rigging a gods tooth. Strip everything off, slide a bead down to the hooks then slide the humdinger down
@@JoshHoines Ok. Hopefully last question. Do you run the line through both the bottom and top of hum dinger on the back side?
@@countryboy360 bottom wide end against the bead/hooks
@@JoshHoines Thank you.
