    did you have to take the gas tank and puller off to get to the carb?

    I try to always use nitrile gloves for protection and eye protection is not a bad idea since that carb cleaner can really burn the eyes if spray gets in :).

    I still use acid dip and ultra sonic cleaner, really takes both sometimes , Or just replace carb and keep old ones for parts

    Good information , I did all of that and my mower still would not start. Could it be the ignition coil and have you ever had to replace one? maybe you can add that to your videos.

      My Toro needed many pulls to start. Check the carb flap angle when cold. Mine was not closing enough, had to adjust the lil spring that was on top of the carb, not all carbs have this lil spring. But by reviewing the carbs flap you can see the problem. Perhaps warm up spring it the issue, see if you can adjust/lube something to get the carb to close more for cold starts. Actually it's all very similar to understand, so don't be afraid.😮

    Proud your getting to the problem but at that stage go buy fuel line maybe 12 inches you can store the rest. But order a jet kit vapor blast that crude temp fix might start it but not long. Don't dump cleaner in tank. They have small wire sticks different sizes to have real cheap. Could buy rebuild kit a quality one and set floats you know what it has in it. Another way these carbs are so cheap to buy can do that. When you can find a quality kit is best way cause you learn something. Carbs also jetted for Cali altitude so some there won't work as good day in Colorado. I used to jet dirt bike in morning race with different size by the time main was on and humidity might go in different direction and move the needle. So good to ix it right if good kit avaliable. I'm not saying Jeet sizes but crude needs to be vapor blasted out and best kit . Your on the right direction was cool to see. Keep up good job

    You explained this and showed everything, so well. I really appreciate it. I have three older brothers, and one is a mechanic, and I hate to bug him all the time to work on my cars and mowers and whatever else. So, I am trying to learn some of this, for myself. So far, your video is the most detailed that I have seen. Thanks again. Now, I know I can do this on my own. I am learning so much from YT videos, on how to fix things. My neighbor just gave me a Toro mower that is in very good condition, however, I used it a couple times and it started acting up. I was worried about my gas, possibly being too old, and I am sure that was the problem. I figured it was either the air filter, fuel filter, or carburetor...now I know it is. It starts, but it won't stay running, now.

    I just worked on 190..3 hours later. Finally just replaced the needle. Carb stopped leaking. Weird though put that old needle on my 175....my 175 runs Perfect with the needle that didn't work on the 190. The seat on the 190 is polished aluminum. The 175 has a brass seat. So who knows. This carb cost $20 on Amazon. That mean shit that is stuck inside the carb has about 6 to 8 holes that need to be cleared not just that main one so if you can’t get it out you have to get a new carb. The carb on Amazon comes with all the gaskets so it’s actually better to buy a new carb than to fix the old one

  • @breaddrinker
    @breaddrinker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

     @Moxie Mowers Do you possibly have a link for the right carb replacement? I hear the costco model doesn't use the same top attachments due to it's choke as the regular Subaru ea190v. Amazon reviews are full of people saying the regular ones don't fit :/

    • @breaddrinker

      @@moxiemowers3851 Thanks. I'm really at a loss. All the links to carbs for this engine point at a different choke setup, and the fitting on top is incorrect. Amazon reviews are full of people yelling at the poor vendors :D I contacted Subaru, and they had no parts diagrams for the costco model, which works on a choke on/off switch (full closed/open). I don't exactly understand the situation or why it was used over whatever chokes those engines usually use. I bought one anyway, hoping I could force it to work or maybe swap over the fitting, but it's completely different and non removable on the replacement.

    • @moxiemowers3851

      @@breaddrinker yeah you'll see a lot of that. Plenty to sift through.

    • @breaddrinker
      @breaddrinker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moxiemowers3851 You know.. I think this carb is the correct one. I'm holding them up side by side and the carb connector looks identical, only plastic over metal. While I was testing the cleaned OEM carb back on the washer, I think I had it hooked on the back hole instead of the front on the choke rocker, which effectively reversed the choke. So run was choked, and 'start' was fully open. Now it's switched back it works in the right order.. Still surges, so the jet issue is still there on the old one, but this particular new carb does fit the costco model. It's got no holding spring to keep the state of the choke held or not, so I might just leave the tension spring on the new one and hold choke for a second, and let it then release back to run.. Removing it might make it vibrate from one state to the other. I'll post the link, just in case it might help someone else. There's a bunch of people looking for these.
