Hemi swapped D100 beater truck
มุมมอง 10Kปีที่แล้ว
Getting the old beater dodge d100 running with a 6.1 hemi from an srt challenger. Using the Holley terminator X and an nv3500 5 speed manual transmission. This is the start to a Protouring build. Slowly but surely, #dodge #hemi #mopar #holley #terminatorx #d100 #srt8

Pulled a first gen dodge Cummins diesel out of the back forty to use as a potential donor truck. Spent some time in the cold to get it running.

Bringing an 87 dodge w250 back from the dead
How you like it so far after few years, i'm about to get one
Saw this for sale a few months back. Nice truck
Did you have trouble with your suspension geometry?
Love it
Any updates? This is good content, hope all is well.
The NV3500 wasn’t too happy with the 6.1, I haven’t had much spare time to be out in the garage but hoping to get back into it soon
@@moparmuscle123 I know 3 pedals isnt easy when you have power in front of it, but with time and money anything is possible. Looking forward to it!
Cracking some injectors to not only prime but see if u have fuel would of made life much easier
nice truck like to see a hard pull off the line instead of all the power braking i am running a 74 MH 440 - 3 / torker intake 850 thermoquad dual exhaust /load flight 3 speed / 8 3/4 3.55 sure grip in a 73 D 100 club cab long box pulls hard off the line and just keeps pulling
This truck is a bit of a dog off the line, it wasn’t built to go fast at all. There is another video posted of the truck running at the track.
Is it a 2006-2007 mega cab with a 2003-2005 front end or did you convert an early 3rd gen to a mega cab?
07 with an 05 front end. I was never a fan of the 06-09 headlights
God Bless !!!👑🌎🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍
What shocks did u use and do u like them … I need to replace mine and can’t find on the forums best shocks for these lowered d150s
I’ve just always used the cheapest oem shocks haha. One day I’d like to put one together and get it to perform tho.
Did you change to a shorter shock, or were the stock ok and not bottom out?
I’ve always just used the original shocks without issue, but I would like to do a little research and find a better option in the future.
@@moparmuscle123 thank you for the feed back, great video.
At the 6:17 mark you are hammering free the lower control arm ball joint. It is easy to see the lower control arm at the ball joint end moving a lot with each hammer blow while the bushing end of the LCA is staying firm. I would think there is a lot to be gained performance wise by plating the bottom side of the LCA.
Nice Rig!
How much you get that thing for?
I have the same truck but red and a manual Cummings
Where can I find a gauge cluster like that I've been looking for one for my 79 d100?
I modified a 98 dodge ram cluster
5:29 way to start a fire homie Jesus Christ!
I love my 12v 92
I just got my first one yesterday already hemi swapped navy blue was an air force truck single cab short wheels base will be bagging and dragging
Sounds Nasty
What suspension?
It was front springs from a 2500 with a hemi, and drop shackles in the rear.
Love the side exhaust. Wish the video was longer with more detail. Why a 250 though? Everything in the axles and brakes is more expensive than a 150. I guess if you tow alot you need one. Did you have to do a engine swap or did you just take the existing one out to do work on it?
No reason for the 250, I bought it with no engine. Put in a TBI 318 but it was pretty tired. So I freshened up a 5.9 magnum and tossed in a 46rh for overdrive. I just like to buy vehicles that have been left unfinished and put them back on the road. I have a w150 to do soon here.
Yep this is bad ass! Also went with a 440
Hi, finally got around to lowering front and back on my d100. How was your alignment after? I am having trouble finding a shop that will touch it now.
You may have a problem getting the camber into spec with the factory control arms. Everything else should align without issue. That’s unfortunate they shops won’t touch it. Hopefully you can find a shop to help you out
@@moparmuscle123 put about 150kms on it on the weekend and it didn’t even wear the nibs off of the new tires so it seems ok. Found a shop that will do an alignment so it goes in next week. Thank you for the reply.
cant wait to race mine... even it loses to a mazda.. almost ready !
about the lean, all the weight in these trucks is on the driver side, fuel tank, steering box battery etc and obviously the driver, more weight and stress is put on the driver side
To set the pinion angle does the truck have to be level?
Would you sell the procharger kit? I have a single cab 5.2 5 speed 96 dakota that needs a procharger kit 🤣🤘🏼
It’s now on my nephews jalopy haha. It was fun but I like turbos better.
great job
you explained driveshaft angle perfectly
any ubolts from a mopar b or c body work
When I lower one I swap front springs from side to side
All the weight is on the drivers side.Battery driver gas tank ect.
You wanna trade? 😭
what motor was in before
Factory was a carbed LA318, I put a throttle body injected 318 in it when I got it.
My sad 1990 Dakota with rust and wiring gremlins needs some attention like this one..
They are worth keeping on the road !
Keep it coming love this channel
mopar!
How much did you cut out of the box to shorten it?
I honestly can’t remember, the orange and white truck has only been half shortened haha. Still need to shorten behind the wheel. And the blue truck is a factory short bed with box sides welded on the old box poorly.
Hi awesome build , did you have to do anything to the factory pump to reduce the pressure or was it fine , thanks great truck man
So far it’s been ok. I haven’t reduced pressure but I am using a larger capacity tank and larger return line so that could possibly help. I only have a few miles on it so far tho.
The old school dodge voltage regulator does work, if you wanted to go that way. I just put a hemi in a 87 Dakota and wired the alternator up like that. Might help you out without spending money for more parts.
Depending on the year of alternator you use. The newer ones require a pulse width + positive signal from the ecm. I’ve got it on the road awhile ago now I’ll have to do an update.
@@moparmuscle123 it’s a cool truck. I’d like to do an old sweptline. Perhaps the next one. Take care
Love the truck and do you by chance have any pics of the front end with the bag setup
I don’t have anything recent and plan to redo the front suspension. I’ve learned a lot since I built it and want to change a lot.
Yeah
Got a 76 and the geometry isn’t working
Was hoping if you could list the part that u used in this video
I don’t have the part numbers handy, but the lower control arms are off of a B-series dodge van from 72-93 (possibly newer?) I believe will work.
Love the videos...do you know of any 70-71 Dodge long boxes for sale?
Nothing off hand, a guy has to scour the country sides sometimes to find the good ones. Just remember to be respectful to the owners! And they will almost always be happy to talk .
The (in)famous Dodge Lean. I think in all honesty its because you have the gas tank mounted on the driver's side, and a tank o' gas plus the driver's weight just causes them to sag on that side. IF, if you remove a coil out of the spring on that side, it kinda evens out. I like your video Part 1 and have thus subscribed. Even though I know how to do this, the part about radiusing the rear pivot point on the van LCA was a good idea and, of all the videos I've watched about this procedure, was the first time mentioned.
I agree all the extra weight would easily account for it. I find a lot of these trucks got worked hard too so the springs are generally sagged out. I have seen 2 frames that had bent cab mounts on the driver side which made it look like a lean but the box was straight.
@@moparmuscle123 right? I recently saved an 87 D150 (LXE) from the crusher. It was parked for 4 yrs. 134k on the speedo. Went to put some front shocks on, drivers side coil spring has a twist in coil helper. Everything else on this truck is straight except that spring.
How much was it to do that swap, I have a 84 D100
I can’t really put a price on it exactly. I was able to part the challenger out to make alot of the money back for the engine. And I made the mounts etc. All the parts I used I basically had laying around. The Holley terminator was the biggest expense at around $2300 cdn.
Any updates on v10 dodge short box?
Nothing recent yet. Still working on spindles and have been sorting out the junk in my yard haha. Hoping to get back on it very soon.
What year is it????
The truck is a 2007, front clip came from a 2005
Dropped my D100 off a year ago...went to the shop yesterday and it is still sitting where the tow dropped it off....the WHOLE time I was wishing this (what you are doing) is what was happening to my truck. Great job, looks and sounds nice....enjoy!!....
Hopefully you get to enjoy your truck soon! Its hard to see them sit for too long.
Bad ass I was going to do this but went with a 440
