Hey buddy I have a question . I have two hoses coming from the water box . The big hose goes to the pipe but I have no idea where the skinny hose goes to that’s located all the way in the back of the box .
@johnnygalvan1344 those are just cooling lines. Your exhaust should have tons of water going through the entire exhaust system and probably won't need additional cooling to the water box. But if you want you can tee in and run extra lines to the box.
@@brads3111 I’m just afraid that it’s gonna fill up my box with water
@@brads3111 thank you for the quick response. I’m like an hour away from going out with my JetSki in the ocean my 750 SS Kawasaki.
@johnnygalvan1344 on no don't be worried at all. The exhaust gasses will push it out. The extra inlets are for extra cooling in hot water and hard core racing.
Kind of old klipp but the water enters the engine bay along the port side, left. By overpreasure from the impeller. On the right side water from the bilge/button of the enginebay, underneath the ignitionbox, is being sucked out from the impellerhousing!
I have metal gaskets blocking cylinder block to cylinder heads . Should I remove it. ?
@@johnnygalvan1344 no. That gasket is what seals the head to the cylinder block. That's what helps keep compression up and water from seeping into the combustion chamber. That head gasket must be replaced each time the head is removed. $20
You have input on best way to flush saltwater with the stock exhaust / no hoe hook up situation…. I’m thinking cattle trough big enough to immerse… heard negative reviews on forcing water up the intake
@dansullivan2293 for saltwater you need "starbrite descaling engine flush" and if you watch the video you will see a extended black line I have always used for flushing. Outside of that just coat the engine each time with wd-40 or some other hydrophobic marine grade engine protection.
What year is the ski? I have same one just dont know the year
@@AngelNumberZero this specific one is a 1986.
Question for ya.. How did you mount the hoist to the 2"x8" piece of wood? I am guessing you bought longer bolts and countersunk them into the wood. Than bolted the 2"x8" wood to the 2"x4" wall studs. I am about to do the same and just wondered if that is how you did it and how well did it hold up after 9 years?
Ya that's about it. I feel like long term could be too much stress on the wall so would make that board as long as possible. Worked great for a few year with no issues.

when installing it again , does it need to be tightened or does it tighten its's elf when the engine is running ?
Definitely needs to be tighten. I can't remember just how much. Sorry

I'm not saying that this doesn't work in some cases, but if the coupler is really stuck on, you will shear off every cog on the coupler before it comes off. Heating it up and then using this trick is the safe bet, if you don't want to damage the coupler.
How much of a difference would you say the aftermarket exhausts make? Thinking of getting one
It's a huge difference. I would say it adds 10hp to your 40-50 hp machine. Plus it makes it sound good.
all is great!
Thats VERY cool but I would add a snatch block and have a bit slower control bring it up...
This winch actually come with a snatch block but it's so slow. The without the block its still very control able.
Sabot slugs should not be fired through a full choke but regular lead foster slugs are designed for use in all chokes including full choke. The hollow soft lead design is too allow the slug to easily compress to fit through a full choke. Before steel shot and interchangeable chokes most shot guns were full choke and slugs were commonly used in them. Sabot slugs do not compress are not used in choked barrels.
Can you use the factory heat sheild?
You can but you will need to build a bracket. I kept mine exposed and love it!!
Modified is not the same as full choke. Slugs fine through modified but not full. 3.75 inch is not standard.
two springs is for double spring mount... small goes inside of large and are pulled and hooked together.
I didn't really know any better so I have actually fired slugs with this shotgun. I actually have 2 .one I bought 40 years ago and the other is a pardner. I think one of them is a full choke and the other which I bought about 25 years ago may be a modified. I'll have to look. I have however fired slugs through both. Regular lead slugs should be ok. But don't use the real powerful of any of these new age super slugs. They are of harder metal and could be problematic.
Sx 650... foi meu primeiro jet. Sensacional.
Do you have an aftermarket carb
No aftermarket carb. These are very simple motors and the stock carb is more than enough. If you want more power, rebuild the motor, replace the reeds and replace the the cranks seals. Then it will run like a beast.
Do you have another fitting on your pipe like where you can’t see it like lower on the big part of the pipe? Because I don’t and I was just wondering what to do if I don’t have one
There's not a extra one on the expansion pipe.
What you can see in the video is all their is.
@@brads3111 ok thank you
It looks like the pipe was very hot so is this the correct way?
Yes, this is the correct setup
@@brads3111 if you have it hooked up differently from the pump it would be different though? You just want to make sure that the one going into the manifold is water coming from the pump?
@@maddoxf6262 yes!! Just follow this diagram and you will be just fine.
I have the same exhaust ,How do I run the cooling line when my ski has only one cooling line barb coming off from the head
Rewatch the video. At 2:00 minutes I explain that.
I have landed on this vido 3 times now. It's old but if you like what brad has done here know that you could halve the safety bar so that the cable can hang down and not activate the safety cutoff. Remove a section of that ring so that the disc still has something to bump against. Remember removing an engineered safety device is never smart so just taking a small part of it away MAY work for you.
Huge help Thank you!!
I hope you install chains to hold the trailer against the wall in the event the hoist slips and the trailer randomly comes crashing down on you or someone unlucky enough to be in the vicinity!
Nope!! But I was hoping it would come crashing down on my ex-girlfriends car, lmfao
where about in the system can you add in the hose fitting so you can flush out after rides
You obviously need to watch the entire video. 2:20
By far the best video thank you for filling my brain with all that knowledge I just bought my 1st stand up Jetski and your video really helped me to understand the entire system thank you.
I agree with you about not spending almost $600 for exhaust. I’ve been looking at cheaper options and I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Exhaust burns are no fun. I’ve got scars to prove it.
Thanks for time doing the review man, it was great.
Awesome idea! Thanks!

wtf that it ... lol winch pull trailer
Hey Brad I just found your videos on Jet Skis and love 'em! I know it's been years since you've posted Jet Ski videos and hpefully you still monitor your youtube channel. We (my family) have 5 Jet Skis; 2 of which are similar to yours. A 1990 550SX and a 1991 650SX. My questions for you is are simple ones. Which of the 2 ski's is faster? ... and if it's the 550 is it because of more mods? and Which is the most fun to ride? .... and why? Thanks man!
Thats a tough one. I have a 1986 550 not the 550sx. The 550sx actually has a reed motor " more power. Out of the hole the 550sx is faster. In the early days they preferred the 550sx over the 650sx for racing. Top speed the 650sx is faster i believe. But only by 2 mph or something small. The 550sx is less stable and l lighter which is more fun for tricks. The 650sx is just better all day on the lake for stability for high speed. If you watch Craigslist and ebay closely you can find aftermarket parts kind of cheap. The best thing for power is always a rebuilt engine if its time. Go have fun.
@@brads3111 - Thanks for the quick reply. One correction; we have a 1990 550sx which was the 1st year using the 'sx' in the name but it isn't a reed motor, It's still a piston port motor in that year but the hull has rear exit exhaust so they gave it the SX name... Thanks again...
@@dboybord in that case out of thw hole the 650sx is a tad faster. And that exhaust is a little quite and not in your ears like the prior models were it would echo off the water.
Thank you for breaking it down for someone that is brand new to stand-up skis.
Hey brad i just installed a coffmans aftermarket exhaust pipe on my 650 and i’m not getting any water from the outboard pisser when i’m riding. I get water flow when i flush the system manually when the garden hose water has direct flow into the head, and i also get water flow out the pisser when the garden hose is put in to the rear line out the back of the ski from the pump. But I get no water when i’m riding and the pump itself is submerged in water. is there any way i can send you a few pictures of my setup and you could tell me if i have it ran correctly? Thanks
From the line going the engine to the pump can you blow through it? Its very common that somewhere in the line it becomes obstructed.
what size is that piece of wood that you used? and did you made the hoist screw's head flush with the wood?
I believe its just a 2x8 inch board and they probably look super flush but I swear their not, hahaha.
@@brads3111 so the bolts holding the hoist to the board are sticking out of the wood creating a separation between the board and the wall? I am asking because I might need to do something like that but I had no idea of what board size to use. if I use 2x4 (1.5x3.5) and I make the head of the screws 1/2 inch deep into the wood to make it flush with the wall, I will have 1 inch only of wood. I am deciding between board or a 12-Gauge Half Slotted Metal Framing Strut Channel.
@@JavierRivera so the wall is made of drywall which is kind of soft. Those bolts holding the hoist to the board were pushed into the drywall just a little. I wouldnt worry about how flush the bolts are. I would be more scared about ripping down your entire wall. Can your wall handle the weight?
brads3111 mine is a block wall.
Why is water standing on my exhaust pipe seems like it's not coming out I don't know what my problem is please help me
You will need to start diagnosing starting from the jet pump. The jet pump supplies the water pressure. Some time the line from the jet pump becomes clogged. I would start there. Something is clogged somewhere.
More specifics and models, please check on www.logislift.com/en/product/Material-Lifting-electric-rope-MB.html
So I have dual cooling lines from my pump. Am I supposed to tap my second line into my exhaust manifold like the original line? And will my lines be different than yours because I have dual cooling? If so please explain.
There should only be a single cooling line from the pump if there's a secound line running from the pump and through the ski hull than that ski was modified. Very interesting. If you can plug both lines into the exhaust that would be great. But you also in uncharted territory. You might even half to Y those lines together prior to the exhaust if theres only one water inlet.. Just a thought.
*I made an elevator with it that takes me and✰✰>**share4.photo/electriHoist?γ42 ** the dog up and down the two story level of our condo.. I used a two part line and unistrut track for the cab to run on. This unit has worked flawlessly now for over a year.*
That's so cool. You should do a video on it!!
Hey buddy I bought a jet jon boat they just put a jet ski motor in a boat, start good, runs good but not too fast when I accelerate to go faster I bogs down I open where the thermostat goes and there was none so, do you think thermostat has something to do with it or maybe carbs I'm no mechanic so if its alot work that it needs done I might sell it to someone that can fix it and get some money back, by the way compression is 125 on each cylinder which has 2
125 is still good. I would look at either clean or slightly adjusting the carb. Usually theres hi, med and low screws for air fuel ratio.. Sometimes theres also two screws for high and low afr's. Start there.
@@brads3111 thank you sir I really appreciate it
Tuning is super simple. Higher rpms you just turn the high jet needle until it stops bogging down. It's that simple. Also sometimes you need to check the rear main sill. That could have air coming in and making the rear cylinder run lean.

Where did you locate that purple water line....I've been searching everywhere...I really want it in hot pink for my pink Kawasaki SC. I found it for my 440 way back in the 80's and it was readily available. I have searched the whole world wide interwebs and nothing. Ideas??? Suppliers???
It's really simple. Just get on google and type in the size of the hose inner diameter the color and the word silicone. For example only and not true to the size " 1/4 inch purple silicone hose"
i’m setting up my 87 js550 for dual cooling with a west coast full pipe and i wasn’t sure about having 2 different hoses coming out of the head opposed to the stock design of having 1 hose come out of the head and connect to the rest of the pipe
That's a very good question. I would keep it as a single but you can make it a double. There are various ways of doing this but it's totally up to you. If I was to do a double head water hose I would do one to the upper down pipe and the other to the lower down pipe. Hopefully that makes since.
I went with the Yoshi on my Monkey, but that price tag for your setup definitely makes it a great option. I know that the Yoshi exhausts came with the same kind of issues with the muffler mount to the body, but they have some new ones (I'm wondering if Honda changed some spec on people during the design). One thing I'm not particularly keen on is that header pipe dropping so far down under the engine. Maybe it's not as drastic as I think.
do the water boxes get pretty hot? I found a hole right beneath the water box, and after taking the gas tank out, it’s pretty evident that the aftermarket water box sitting directly on the hill, burned through/melted the hull thanks for this video btw, I learned a few things
The box should never get hot. Maybe warm to the touch but not hot. You have a water flow problem.
brads3111 ay thank you, ima check the water hose, you said they can get clogged. But what if it’s not clogged? That would indicate a more severe problem?
@@jasonpearson1555 its clogged somewhere. Take off the hoses and blow with your mouth. That will give a good idea where its clogged. Hardware shops have the brass fittings for the water flow. And go bug on the fittings so the water flows good.
m.th-cam.com/video/8jJ1IC9YBgk/w-d-xo.html the lines appear clear, not restricted. I just took a small video to show you what I’m talking about. hey man I appreciate your help
@@jasonpearson1555 sorry for the late reply. But yes you have a clog somewhere. Find it!!
