Always looking to get the most out of the tools and machines I own, I modified my dump trailer ramps. This makes my life easier in several ways. For starters, I frequently roll wheel barrows in and out of my trailer and I wanted a smooth rolling surface that would be easy on my body and a source of safe and stable footing in all conditions. Secondly, I wanted a comfortable and easy way of handling the ramps. This was easily solved by welding in 1/4 inch metal rods midway between each of the original steel angle crossmembers. Next, I didn't like the way the points at the bottom of the ramps would gouge up driveways and pavement in the hot summer months or bury themselves in the mud. My answer to that was to have them bevel cut and add a flat steel spanner plate. Simple is better!
