Impetus, Op32 by K. Debois, Op. 32
Try the interactive tutorial, or download the Sheet music here: musescore.com/user/12026001/scores/6589322?from=youtube_share
Composed within the last few weeks, finally set to paper. Impetus, Op. 32, is a difficult piece to play. I still need to finish the markings and adding final touches, but all the notes are there. I may make a few adjustments sometime down the line though. I hope you enjoy it!

Adolf von Henselt - Wiegenlied, Op.45
มุมมอง 1.4K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Georg Martin Adolf von Henselt (9 or 12 May 1814 - 10 October 1889) was a German composer and virtuoso pianist. Henselt was born at Schwabach, in Bavaria. At the age of three he began to learn the violin, and at five the piano under Josephe von Flad. To some ears, Henselt's playing combined Franz Liszt's sonority with Hummel's smoothness. It was full of poetry, remarkable for his use of extende...

Leopoldo Américo Miguez (9 September 1850 - 6 July 1902) was a Brazilian composer. Born in Niterói, Miguez studied at conservatories in Paris. He was known as a champion of the music of Richard Wagner. He also directed the "Instituto Nacional de Musica." He also wrote the music for Brazil's Hymn for the Proclamation of the Republic. Hans von Bülow - Ballade, Op.11
มุมมอง 4.5K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Hans von Bülow was a German conductor, virtuoso pianist, and composer of the Romantic era. As one of the most distinguished conductors of the 19th century, his activity was critical for establishing the successes of several major composers of the time, especially Richard Wagner and Johannes Brahms. Alongside Carl Tausig, Bülow was perhaps the most prominent of the early students of the Hungaria...
Glauco Velásquez - Melancolia, Op. 76
มุมมอง 1794 ปีที่แล้ว
Velásquez (Naples, 22 of March of 1884 - Rio de Janeiro, 21 of June of 1914) was the illegitimate son of the baritone Eduardo Medina Ribas and Adelina Alambary who were not legally united. This forced the couple to move to Europe to avoid the scandal and shame they would face. In early childhood, Velásquez was entrusted to an Italian family, and from an early age showed interest in music, singi...
Gustave Samazeuilh - Chanson à ma poupée
มุมมอง 2084 ปีที่แล้ว
The beautiful Chanson à ma poupée by a relatively forgotten composer. He was a French composer and writer on music, having studied with Ernest Chausson. As well as this, he was a pupil of the notable Paul Dukas. His output was marked more by "fine craftsmanship" (to quote Slonimsky) than by quantity or commercial success. He produced many piano transcriptions of orchestral works, and also wrote...

Difficult yet not lacking in harmony, melody and originality. Composed circa 1850, they were first published in 1855 in and dedicated to the Belgian concert pianist Marie Pleyel. Thomas D. A. Tellefsen - Pavane de la Reine Elisabeth, Op.44
มุมมอง 3334 ปีที่แล้ว
Tellefsen's Pavane de la Reine Elisabeth, Op.44, is a beautiful piece filled with exquisite harmony albeit a simple selection of melodies. As a Pavane, it serves well, dedicated to à Madame la Baronne James de Rothschild. The Pavane is named after Queen Elisabeth, so I could hazard a guess at it being Elizabeth I. Thomas D. A. Tellefsen - Elégie in F minor, Op. 7
มุมมอง 2344 ปีที่แล้ว
Tellefsen's Elegie in F minor, Op. 7, is very much akin to what Chopin would have written if he were to write an Elegie. This is to say that being a student of Chopin is obvious throughout this piece. First published in 1853, dedicated to the memory of François Gustave Oscar who died a year previous. The final part of this work quotes the choral "Hvo veed hvor nær mig er min Ende?". Performer(s...

Pf: Myself (2017) - I am a huge fan of Mendelssohn! Information from AllMusic: Opinions differ on the date of composition for Mendelssohn's Rondo capriccioso, Op. 14. Some suggest he composed the work in 1824; if this is the case, it is the most advanced work he had composed at the time. Also, publication dates of both 1827 and 1830 dot the literature. The opening of #4, seems to me, to have influenced by Alkan’s Fantasie for the Left Hand. Rubinstein may well have been familiar with Alkan’s work - he dedicated one of his piano concertos to Alkan.

    • @kitbuiz
      @kitbuiz 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

And not only the introduction, but the whole play seems to be a simplified adaptation of Alkan’s etude. The original is for one hand, and the rework is for two.

Appreciate all the effort you put into offering us these beautiful pieces of musical history! These were composed when Pleyel pianos were at their apogee. Indeed written "for" Marie Pleyel, who was herself one the most important concert pianists of that era, she had been engaged to Berlioz but broke it off and married Camille Pleyel. Camille was the son of famous piano inventor and musician Ignace Pleyel, and Camille himself a pianist of great talent who continued to piano production and invested himself into publishing of music pieces. Pleyel pianos were owned and played on by Chopin, who preferred them over all others. So many fantastic pianists and musicians rubbing shoulders at the same time (Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms, Robert & Clara Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn, Alkan, Busoni, Thalbert, Saint-Saëns...)

IMHO this piece may have been well known by Grieg because I hear a lot of mood and sentiment that anticipates Grieg's style. Elsewhere Tellefsen shows influence of his teachers Kalkbrenner and Chopin. Here absolutely not. Here he's the anticipator and innovator

It's Anton Rubinstein's famous Staccato etude. This etude is the most well known and most often performed etude of the set. To play this etude comfortably, you need to be able to play decimes easily without too much stretch. The staccato chords themselves are actually not that difficult.
