Just for the record, i have only watched this episode not the entire series, so i don't know about most of the main characters, but i believe this is what happened 'The dad had quite an anger management problem, he had already crashed outs multiple times before this incident so he's kind of an usual suspect for the firefighter team (rescue team), the firefighter captain who also had anger management problem recommended the dad to go on therapy and even gave him his therapist's contact. The dad (accompanied with his family) was on his way to see the therapist for the 1st time, and you can see what happened next in this video. The dad still hasn't losed it yet until the rescue team prioritized saving the drunk driver before his family since he was in a more critical condition.' Just wanted to clarify something before someone misinterpreted what i was about to said, because i agree the dad shooting the drunk driver was a stupid decision especially when the emergency team had already checked on his family. BUT, in the dad's defense, for most of the time he was holding it up pretty well, only when someone decided to disrespect/hurt his family that made him lose it (the employee called his wife fat, his son's wrestling opponent keep using cheap trick,....), and also he had never been angry with his family. Beside, the drunk drive literally throw the beer bottle onto a family car windshield, that's attempted manslaughter imo.

OK, if a guy is actively threatening your family in the moment, then you have the ability to deal with it absolutely handle that situation but this was not that situation. The guy was no threat so that was murder. And murder is always unjustifiable. Killing is only justifiable to save a life and prevent the taking of others but killing becomes murder if that person is not actively threatening others..
