I knew I wasn’t alone out there. Franz is unbelievable but this one aspect has me concerned.

For Christ sakes, the Magic just proved they couldn't win a game without Franz going off in the playoffs. Paolo had a 9 point stinker and the Magic still won in a blowout because of Franz. Paolo had multiple 30+ games and the Magic lost all of them, but the 1 that Franz had 16/5/8 in 3 quarters. Franz averaged 25/8/5 in the Magic wins with a 4.7 to 0.3 ast/tov ratio, WHILE being a +22. The insane dominance of that goes under the table because rightfully lets Paolo close the games, and you guys are debating if you'd rather have Franz or Suggs making the max? Seriously? Come on now.

I agree with the desire to not compare and I'll try not to. I was really trying to compare them within the context of team building and contracts. You can have 3 max players on a team but it severely limits your flexibility moving forward. But my argument is premature. Worry about this on the 2nd contract.

@@courtcousinsnba I agree. The shot will be the difference between him hitting the true "star" ceiling vs just being a really good player. However, I feel like Markelle being dropped is because the lineup can only afford one non shooter. KCP, Jsizzle, and Dell can all space pretty well. The saving grace for Franz is his ability to attack space. He's crafty and has elite footwork and balance. A lot of guys only know how to straight line drive into traffic off a closeout. He can punish you for giving him room with his drive instead of pulling up.

That's fair. I think I've just been so frustrated with Franz' shot deterioration over the past couple of years that I'm going a bit insane.

@@courtcousinsnbabut he’s giving you soo much on the defensive end. The attention he demands allows secondary guys like Suggs to make shots. Franz also takes on hefty defensive assignments night in and night out.

Agreed. That take was crazy. Right now if Suggs was to hold off for a Max let’s trade for Sexton or Tyler Hero.

Fair take. I am likely still drunk off Guiness. I think what I wanted to say in that is, as of now, I believe more in Suggs' development than Franz. Based on the past year and a half.

You're right Unc. I think I'm just really bummed by what seems to me to be the degradation of his shot. He is still a tremendous player.

@@courtcousinsnba Take heart that his free throw % has consistently been mid to hi 80. Remember that 2 previous seasons he shot near league avg. from 3. He is competitive and hard worker, I would bet on him if I were a gambling man. "Make it magic" would have worked as part of the toast😉
