Uniden SDS200 Portland Metro Area part 2
มุมมอง 2.7K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Part 2 of scanning Portland area Public Safety with the new SDS200. This time the radio is fed with an Antennacraft ST-2 and an 800 MHz Yagi aimed south. Similar results to the previous arrangement in part 1. The radio does very well on digital channels and is adequate on analog VHF/UHF but not what I would call a stellar performer. That said, since it is a software defined radio Uniden may be ...

Scanning Portland area Public Safety with the new SDS200. Still working on finding the best filter settings and tweaking the color scheme and data fields of the display. So far the radio seems very good on p25 but I'd say is just is OK on analog VHF and UHF. It is fed by a rooftop Comet GP-1 and an 800 MHz Yagi aimed south. These are connected with a simple BNC 'T' connector. Clark County p25 r...

Beach Scanner - Cliff’s Notes Version (BC780XLT)
มุมมอง 5586 ปีที่แล้ว
Short version of my "Beach House Scanner" video. This one is focused only on setup and operation of the scanner. Note that this radio can also receive FM Broadcast stations, but I forgot to mention that in the video. I will program the Tillamook FM stations into the radio next time I visit and leave a note explaining which channels they are programmed in and how to access in the event of a powe...
Beach House Scanner (Uniden BC780XLT)

Video shows how to set up and operate the beach house scanner. Things to listen for: Tillamook County Sheriff, Fire & EMS, US Coast Guard, Oregon State Police, ODOT, Oregon Dept of Forestry, Siuslaw Natl Forest, NOAA Weather Radio and more. Next trip down I will put a 12v battery unit with it that can power the scanner in the event of a power outage. Enjoy!

Diving the Marietas Islands near Punta de Mita, Mexico, with Oceano Adventures in December, 2017. Water temperature about 76° F, visibility 30-40 feet. Wearing the yellow fins is our dive master, Deborah, who did an awesome job. Thanks Deborah! Shot with a Sony a6300 and 10-18mm lens in a Nauticam housing.
Can you show how to actually program it, 30 minute garbage video
Hello Gordon. I really liked your video. My name is Jorge, I am SWL and I live in Spain. I have a technical question to ask you about this scanner. I like to listen to the International Space Station (ISS) and the radio amateurs making contacts through their repeater on 437,800 MHz. I have a Realistic Pro-2006 and a Diamond X-30 antenna for it. The question is simple but I can't find accurate information on this question, so it's better to ask. The ISS has its downlink frequency at 437,800 MHz, where you can hear radio amateurs talking. In the pro-2006 I can memorize, for example, these 3 frequencies: 437.795, 437.800 and 437.805. Those three memories are due to the Doopler effect of the ISS. The question is whether in the 780XLT you can also program, for example, those 3 frequencies in steps of 5 KHz (?), using the VFO or by directly entering the different frequencies... I ask because the UHF steps I have read are 12.5 KHz. I want you to understand what I mean. Thank you very much in advance for any information. Have a nice day and 73.
I have the BC785D and for +20 Years it has been working Even after I accidently Broke the Volume Knob --- it still works. On Ebay the $price is Way Too Much. I bought mine from Ham Radio Outlet from Used sales.

A lot of these older scanners are excellent for aircraft and railroad monitoring
For autism yeah.
What antenna are you using
😁👍
Hi my uniden bearcat where yours shows BC 780 xlt mine says UBC 780 XLT what's the difference mine also is a Trunk Tracker lll what is the hold button far if you are using the man button
15' OF VIDEO, VERY FINE!
Is this Colby?
which display is that?
Detailed.
God there's is nothing like stating the obvious
Technically, it's against the law in some(most) places to share radio transmissions from public service Has been for years
Depending on jurisdiction, that depends on if its live Vs per-recorded. During BLM riots across the country, there were many in the crowds that were using aps that allowed them to hear real time traffic on LE frequencies, which compromised LE tactics. This has given many departments the justification to move towards encryption, at least on certain tac channels.
I ordered the SDS 100 and the SDS 200 from bearcat warehouse.
hi, love it! i just got the sds200 from Tigard store. How can I reach you to chat about the scanner? i have many questions...
Tuning it doesn't matter since it's receive only and doesn't maximize anything. Works best fully extended throughout the full receive range. HAME naivete
I guess Im kind of randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to stream new tv shows online?
@Tatum Raul i would suggest flixzone. Just google for it =)
I have a icom ic r 100 receiver it makes a ticking noise between am fm fmwide can you tell if the receiver have a problem
Discreet SIGINT post hidden in a paper grocery bag hehehehe
I just bought a sds200 scanner . I am trying to find sentinel like the book says to download .can you help?
bill stuwe You can download it from Uniden: info.uniden.com/twiki/bin/view/UnidenMan4/BCDx36HPSentinel
Great video. Currently saving up for one of these pricey things and will be using it in the same area, just a little further south. P25 reception sounds great.
OMG I'M In LOVE! I live in Portland to. I have the 536hp. I'M BUYING THIS FOR SHURE! Great video
@Sam Ford yup does it all!
@Default Name nothing really. 200 is a bigger screen with more screen customization options. Especially all the color options it's absolutely endless. I just want it!
How did you get the Alert Light to turn on like that?
Hello real like the way work on that scanner was wondering if i can get your help on program mine i feel like i'm very stupid. just looking for help
simple bnc "t" connector presents the wrong impedance to the radio so it wont rx properley, use a diplexer
Does anyone know how to adjust the P25 threshold on the sds200??? I just bought it and would like to figure out how to do that.
NumberOneAirgunner As far as I know, the SDS series do not have Digital Threshold Level or Digital Threshold Mode settings like the older Uniden models. The SDS radios are based on Software Defined Radio, which is very different technology. Most all of the traditional radio functions of electronic components like transistors is now handled in the SDS by a computer chip. The primary SDS settings you have available to improve digital reception are the 7 different filter settings, which you can assign on a site by site basis. You can also turn on attenuation on a site by site basis which may help if your signal is very strong or if there is interference from things like nearby cell towers, etc. A different antenna may improve reception, or just moving the scanner a few feet can sometimes make a difference.
How is it better than the old BCD396T ? and why pay the ridiculous price when an old digital scanner will hear & decode the same things ? Their just P25, I,II. Here, in Australia, most services of interest are encrypted anyhow.
Well, don’t buy one if you think the price is ridiculous. Even if it were super cheap there’d be no point since most everything’s encrypted in your area.
cool...I don't think it has SDR capabilities does it or waterfall on its screen
I haven’t found an option for a waterfall display, but it may be something that will be added in a future firmware upgrade. Someone apparently stumbled into a waterfall display on their SDS100 a while back, but were unable to locate a menu option: forums.radioreference.com/threads/sds100-spectrum-display-waterfall-what-am-i-missing.372410/ .
It is an SDR.
@@MrWhaatay I believe it is. Pretty sure the model number SDS refers to Software Defined Scanner.
@@nofxslc I agree.
How to set up the "Delay" as on the scanner it is setup for only 2 seconds , I would like to go to 5 sec
I think you can only edit the delay in the Sentinel software in your custom Favorites Lists, but in there you have a number of options for the delay. Four seconds, five, ten seconds, there's other options too, can't think of them all at the moment. You can also set the delay directly in the radio on a per channel basis using the menus.
Like your setup on display and sounds good. I sure wish my keypad was that bright! 🤔
awesome!
Using a 668 now and this radio sounds like it gets P25 simulcast a lot clearer. I have to adjust the radio and antenna position to get clear audio on the channels I want or some sound like a robot.
69Dartman I used to have the Whistler 1065, which I think is functionally very similar to your Pro-668. The 1065 did not do well at all on my local Portland p25 system which you hear quite a bit of in this video. I also had the TRX-2 for a while and it really struggled with this system as well. This new SDS200 sounds great on this p25 as you can hear. If you prefer handhelds there is a sibling handheld model: the SDS100. Whistler though is rumored to have their own p25 star performers in the pipeline, so you might want to wait for that if you’re more of a Radio Shack/Whistler fan. I like their radios OK but am not a fan of their EZScan software.
I had all kinds of scanners back in the day up to the pro 2006 which I still have in it's box and a pro 43, both can do what they were known for back in the day. Then I eventually got the trunk tracker 235 and the 895 and had both fully functional receiving Gresham and Portland public safety. Radio Shack folded and my buddy found two 668 for like 100 bucks and gave me one for all the help I've given him over the years. It worked great till they finally killed their 800 simulcast and finally went full digital p25 fairly recently. Just glad the 668 still works even if it's a bit dodgy and want something better if I ever find enough money to upgrade again. It's not going to happen this tax season. I don't think it would be worth sending mine in to be upgraded as I don't think it will help p25 at all here. I'm using a rem800b antenna that seems OK for now.
Thank you for the good video, I have reposted this to some Facebook groups: Uniden BCD436HP / BCD536HP / SDS200 / SDS100 Scanner Owner's Group & UNIDEN SDS100 SDS200 Radio Scanner Group
Do you mind share the location your at? Looks very calm and nice to fish
