Lived there 96-98, when a lot of the new pubs were opening and they were building the art gallery and other stuff round there. The original spoons had just opened, it was previously a bingo hall and a cinema before that. The Old Courthouse, now spoons, had just opened but wasn't part of a chain. Had some great nights and never had any trouble with anyone. Planning on a quick weekend visit, even though I know I will be disappointed.

Why is everything in England so rundown looking? Why is so little effort put into making sure that the exteriors look decent? You see such shabby looking buildings, even in London, yet go inside and it's lovely. I don't understand why the outside isn't kept up. Have you people not even heard of the concept of power washing?

Suddenly, a lot of these places where rubbish has been dumped is out of bounds with council council touch certain areas they can only do their own areas if it gets reported and Metro are getting ready to start doing the electrical overhead lines which are beginning to be sorted and they got quite a few stops made and ready that the shelters and that and where the hippo used to be it’s going to be a miracle university run by university

Thank you so much for taking my request. They used to be much better when they first started but of late you can definitely tell things have started to downgrade a bit. Prices are good to be honest, the curry sauce is normally a lot thicker and that come as a surprise. Same with the chips as they are normally hot. Once again thanks for taking my request 🙂👍

My go to place for a tasty affordable meal! Spicy dipped chicken burger (£4.50) with 4 wings and chips covered in chilli and mayo (£2.50). Highly recommend this place

Thanks for that. I was drug up round there! and before Greater Manchester, it was in Lancashire! Two points about Church Street. On the left before the Church is the shop where Eccles Cakes were created and, also on the left, just before the building work, used to be a Granada TV Rental shop where I worked from 1970 to 78 as a mender.
