You've got to admit, though, on a par with Jiminy Cricket's line to Pinocchio and Lampwick, "You buttered your bread! Now sleep in it!" and "Make a jackass out of yourself!" the coachman's line to the boys who all became donkeys, "You boys have had your fun! Now pay for it!" is a hell of a lesson to learn. And both lines actually made sense. Jiminy left Pinocchio and Lampwick to reap what they sowed when they wouldn't wise up, and all those other boys paid a price for their rowdy behavior - nothing more.

And this is how we got Donkey for Shrek movies? At least there are these kind of theories for it! When Lampwick doesn't get any difference between Pinocchio and other boys, maybe this tells Lampwick is somehow permissive, even though Pinocchio is still a doll in this scene and Lampwick is acting some kind of tough guy. I understand if someones have some traumas by these scene and maybe it's so sad they turned into donkeys.
