NUS CBmE
Singapore
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 7 ก.ย. 2020
The NUS Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE) was established in September 2006 at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine through a generous gift by the Chen Su Lan Trust. We work to develop understanding, capacity for good judgement, and sound ethical practice in the context of healthcare provision, biomedical science and health-related policy development.
CBmE is a thriving centre for learning, teaching and research relating to ethical and legal aspects of healthcare and biomedical sciences. We study issues of broad international significance with a particular interest in learning for and from Singapore and Asia.
We have a diverse staff who bring a valuable range of disciplinary backgrounds and experiential perspectives to our various educational and research activities and collaborative initiatives. We work collaboratively with academic colleagues across and beyond NUS, and with key stakeholders in the healthcare sector and biomedical science and policy communities.

Confidence-based Surgical Innovation: A framework for responsible surgical innovation-Naomi Holbeach
Abstract:
Dr. Naomi Holbeach introduces the "Confidence-Based Surgical Innovation" framework, a structured approach that combines evidence-based medicine with philosophical reasoning to promote responsible surgical innovation. Highlighting the inherent risks of surgical innovation and its impact on patient safety, she identifies challenges in meeting surgeons’ legal and professional obligations, particularly in Australia. The framework addresses uncertainty in decision-making and ensures innovation is implemented responsibly while balancing patient autonomy and safety. By formalizing reasoning around safety and efficacy, Dr. Holbeach provides surgeons with a step-by-step guide to align innovation with their professional duties and promote ethical advancements in patient care.
Biography:
Dr Naomi Holbeach is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist from the Mercy Hospital for Women in Melbourne, Australia. She holds dual qualifications in law and medicine and has recently completed a PhD in bioethics on surgeons’ legal and ethical obligation about surgical innovation. Naomi is also the Academic Coordinator for Learning and Teaching and a senior lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health at the University of Melbourne. In this role she teaches medical students medicine, law and ethics.

****@NUS CBmE and the speaker Udo! NOT ACCURATE INFORMATION!! You dont know people's personal stories and obviously have NOT watched the news stories of how people DIED when they DiD NOT reach the criteria of MAID. Also, DR. ELLEN WIEBE HAS ASSISTED IN PEOPLES DEATH WITHOUT PROPER ASSESSMENT AND QUALIFICATIONS!! WATCH & LISTEN to stories of FAMIILIES who been through the system about their LOVED ONE as IT IS LIBERATED on who qualfies and these doctors have no punishment, just like the SEXUAL TRANSGENDER clients who were not FULLY ASSESSED ACCURATELY and were alreaddy appoved for SEXUAL TRANSITION. IDIOTS!! ALL TRUST IN PHYSICANS AND RESEARCHERS has lost credibility now. Another lie that Udo Schuklenk is making public while paitents and families SUFFER!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!
I would also recommend the books by David Boonin, Jeff McMahon, and Christopher Kaczor on the topic.
Would you be willing to talk about this topic with me on my channel?
