Turn On episode 2
The second episode of ABC comedy show from 1969 called “Turn On”. This one was never aired as the show was immediately cancelled after episode 1, though it had already been taped. Instead of a laughter track, they used a Moog modular synth to create sound effects and what was meant to be the sound of a computer laughing.
The show mixed surreal sketches with animations and frenetic sound effects. The humour was adult, political and subversive. Turn-On styled itself as "the first computerized TV show”. It had no sets except for a clinical white backdrop, where sketches supposedly generated by an artificially intelligent computer would be acted out.
The show was a total disaster and was reputedly cancelled half-way through its first episode. The Cleveland ABC affiliate pulled the show after the first commercial break, using an emergency protocol to replace the show with a black screen and live organ music. The show has since been considered one of the most infamous flops in TV history.

Robert Moog interview late '90s
มุมมอง 3818 หลายเดือนก่อน
Rare little interview CNN did with Robert Moog in the ’90s, when he was living in North Carolina, designing machines as a free agent, having left the synth company he founded. This month would have seen Moog’s 90th birthday, had he not passed away in 2005. I’ve always loved the man’s humility and straightforwardness. Big love to him and all those who knew him. #RobertMoog #moog
“Myoglobin: A Protein Primer” with music created on a Moog modular by Gino Piserchio
มุมมอง 72710 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lovely wonky transfer of a 1971 science film called “Myoglobin: A Protein Primer” with music created on a Moog modular by Gino Piserchio, who was a composer and actor who had featured in a few films by Andy Warhol. Piserchio died in 1989 aged just 44. I find this film very soothing, mainly due to the soundtrack, the beautifully degraded quality of the film, and the blissed-out narration.

Cavagnolo Exagone XM 64 walkthrough
มุมมอง 427ปีที่แล้ว
The super-rare Exagone XM 64 made by a French accordion company called Cavagnolo in 1982. Only 20 of these are thought to have been built, though the company also made some versions with accordion controls (around 80). It's a two oscillator monosynth that was used by Depeche Mode, though who knows what happened to the other 18. This one is owned by the man behind La Mirage Records (lamiragereco...
Keith Humble's Optronics Workstation
มุมมอง 285ปีที่แล้ว
This is the Optronics Workstation, an Australian synth made for composer Keith Humble around 1970. It could be controlled by brainwaves… The Optronics Workstation contains an EMS VCS1 - you can see the controls in the bottom right corner. Yes, a VCS1, not the VCS3 that EMS eventually marketed. The VCS1 was the first synth made by British company EMS. Three were created, the original, known as t...

มุมมอง 607ปีที่แล้ว
A video from the Australian Broadcasting Company about a composer and inventor called Percy Grainger, who made electronic instruments in the 1950s that would follow a curving line to create pitch and music. He physically made the curving line out of thick sheets of card and fed them into the machine, controlling the pitch of an oscillator.

Imagine if THX-1138 was a comedy...
5:48 Exactly when this show got pulled. Vietnam was the Gaza of the 60s
This is like Laugh-In on acid and I’m into this. It should be in a museum. Just saying. It’s still bad TV tho.
❤
Instant classic, you need IQ>125 for some of these 😅
May I share this on my page? 😮
Sure, just credit the edit to me as I found and put together the different footage.
Thank you for this.
Meraviglia assoluta. ❤️💙
no way
Always the Genius I love to watch and listen to - Bravo!❤
I wondered why there's been a floating ballsack hanging out in my TH-cam recommends over the last couple of days. Fantastic and bonkers stuff - thanks for uploading this!
Their has to be a name for a genre of music that uses this sound it creates such an atmosphere that feels alive yet tuned
This is fantastic, an enjoyable watch merci.
Stupendous! Warm, soft, visually stimulating, textured….it’s all of the things I love about certain animation in that time period. Thank you for posting this🔥🔥🔥🙏🏼
Thank you for this!

Hello is there a chance that you upload the manual?. Thanks in advance
Hi there, I'm afraid I don't have it. And I don't think the owner of the synth (not me) had it either. He contacted the company who made it and I think they had nothing left about the synth either!
@@robotussin_synths Oh this is a really mysterious Synth then 😁
0:31 Holy crap, do you him learning this finger pattern inpired the strings in 'How to Disappear Completely'? The notes the lady played are literally on point with the song.
Ahh the old "I am not a fan of Behringer" but then buys a Behringer synth because its cheap.
My new music identity will be acid teddy bears!
Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead!
Thanks.
Wow. Thanks. I had seen this way back in school sometime. I came over hear from Phil Edwards "The trick that made Mickey famous." On youtube.
Thank you so much for sharing this! What is this clip from?
You said it's not cheap. And how much does it cost? I wanted to buy it 20 years ago, but there was only one on eBay. And someone quickly bought it.
They were €4,000 but only 100 new ones were made and they are all gone now. If you're intersted in buying one, look online but it would be around 4k or more I think... Private message me if you're in Europe and would like to offer a price for mine.
I do not care how aggressive B campaign are, as long they give me good quality product for low price. Unfortunately I had technical problems with K2 & CAT. I had also CRAVE that was just not enough for me and NEUTRON that was great in func but not intuitive enough after update (cryptic shortcuts). One that I really liked was TD-3 but Donner B1 is more easy to opperate. Now I gave Behringer last chance with KOBOL, as I love how quirky this synth is. Just simple SYNTH at first and very complex after u warp yr self around it. But I already experience some technical issues (again)... synth just got silent out of nowhere two times, when I was jamming yesterday. After reset it worked fine again. Nevertheless that gave me worries. Do u have experienced something similar?
💖
Still waiting for the sequenced part of your video lol... Joke apart, the digital input din plug isn't for a roland sequencer AFAIK. It was for the never sold proprietary sequencer developped by Cavagnolo themselves. The CV and Gate inputs are combined in one Jack input...like some modern gear, albeit with big 6,5 Jack instead of the mini 3,5 we have nowadays.
Great interview
Not an emulation. It's a component for component clone/replica. Each sound circuit is the same as the per the TR-909.
This is cool, thanks for posting. 😊
That’s the first time in 30 years I’ve heard him talk. Super cool guy.
I’ve heard that Luke’s saber sound is in major, while Vader’s is in minor. Any wise people who know more about this? 🤓
Thank you for this excellent presentation. This box is really fun to use. I am sampling it into the MPC as I use it w a keystep w the sequencer and then chop the samples onto the pads for further composition. From drums to leads, drones, and fm bells, that thing can do a lot!
oh my god he’s so cute
Wow that’s cool
Im currently obsessed with the crumar spirit, love this synth so much!

God, after listening to songs that he and thom wrote. Watching this video feels so warm
LOL Robotussin is an awesome name 😝 Subbed. Indeed. It's difficult to find a decent review of this synth. Very cheap too, I almost couldn't believe it seeing just how many patch points it has. I was going to go for it but I'm leaning Proton lately. I have too many Behringer products as is though, but everyone knows that once you get the Neutron, you will be itching to assemble the rest of the atom. Even the super tiny synths Behringer will eventually release called "Up Quark, "Down Quark", "Charmed Quark" and so on. Just kidding, I'm going only for the most basic Classical Physics Bohr model of atom. Not sure I would even fall for P-meson or mu-meson. But they won't go as far as "electron" not to confuse with the one and only "EleKtron"? Will they? I just may get it if they do.
