Endiatx Pillbot™ Trailer
Endiatx develops micro-robots that have the potential to replace in-hospital endoscopies. They are swallowed by the patient and controlled remotely by a doctor who can visually examine the inside of the upper gastrointestinal tract in real-time. This technology eliminates months of waiting and uncomfortable procedures and helps diagnose life-threatening conditions early.
Pillbot™ is inspired by Interspace, a 1987 sci-fi movie with a miniaturized craft that travels through the body. In hospitals today, you can access electronic pills with cameras controlled by magnets using massive, stationary, and costly MRI machines. The Endiatx difference lies in the fact that biomechanical and aerospace engineers collaborated to develop a pill that a doctor can control remotely. This revolutionary way of thinking has the potential to open access and accessibility to telemedicine and urgent care to people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to it.
The long-term vision for Endiatx is to miniaturize Pillbot and reduce its cost so it can be accessible to everyone from the comfort of their homes. A technology like Pillbot can be a game changer for people living hours away from the doctor or hospital. It saves numerous lives from preventable conditions.
In the process of fundraising for the development of Pillbot, the leadership at Endiatx reached out to Nonfiction to help them tell a compelling story of how and why Pillbot is a venture worth investing in. After interviewing founder Torrey Smith, it became evident that his drive for turning science fiction into reality had a deeply personal origin story. He also thought far into the future on the potential of Pillbot and how other Endiatx products might revolutionize access to care.
Nonfiction took that information, wrote a compelling script, and produced a short format video that tells an origin story able to touch people’s hearts even if the audience has no experience with gastrointestinal issues. One of the common problems working with new technologies is that it’s common for startups to need clarification on the messaging because they are solely focused on science (What) and technology (How). As a design firm, Nonfiction aims to direct the messaging toward the Who and the Why.
Thanks to powerful storytelling and editing, the Endiatx origin story and 60-second video was able to garner $1.5+ million within weeks of launching the video. Its release facilitated engagement with medical partners captured the attention of the TED Global Conference and even talked Adam Savage of Mythbusters into swallowing not one but two Pillbots. And if you’re wondering what happens to Pillbot once it has done its job, it is naturally passed through the patient’s gastrointestinal tract without being digested.

Nonfiction Presents: The Future of Happiness on Mars
it looks really funny to see rehearsel, wtf man one can say 1 subject the other one another subject what is this one sentence passing each other.....
Sadly, Aeron is designed based on '60s science that has since been debunked. Chairs cause harm over years and decades, so your back gives out much later when you bought an "ergonomic" chair.
This has been so informative and refreshing to watch. Thanks for sharing.❤
Glad you found the episode helpful and refreshing. Please continue to share the knowledge! Cheers
Very good learning instrument. I am inclined to show this to our design team as part of our group training scheme. It will fit in quite nicely.
Glad you found it helpful. Please share! We created the episode after noticing a gap in education and training for designers, non-designers and anyone trying to better understand the process better.

Just found this video and I thought it was great, but why is there such a lapse till now??? What’s been going on?
What I find so frustrating is all these companies are geared toward sustainability, which often means recycling toxic products. When it comes to clothing and shoes, I don't want to be wearing plastics and other chemical ridden products. I have been trying to find a non toxic shoe with zero drop, wide toe bed, and I can't find one!
I wanted to share the quote that is displayed in this video - "Decide what good meant to you, then don't change your mind when things get hard." and wanted to give credit to the author - is that Rob Thompson who authored the book shown?
Yes. The book is from Rob Thompson. The quote came from a good friend and ridiculously talented mechanical engineer, Joe Moak. I’m not sure if he’s the original author though.
Man, They need more recognition for these videos! As a Mech student, I feel like I found gold in stash for my studies.
Thank you for the kind words. Both Phnam and I taught at the university level and felt that most curricula left out many important details. So, we created Future Future to help. Please share with your colleagues.
@@mardisbagley5072 For Sure!
Pure gold info!
Hi, great video!! Do you have any comments on PLA, its usability and its future?
Thanks for the kind words. PLA is a great option to traditional petroleum based plastics. While there are many benefits to PLA, I'd recommend doing your research. PLA is derived from corn, cassava, and other plant-based sources. Since PLA is a polyester constructed from two monomers, it can typically be broken down in commercial composting processes or even chemically recycled. But it's important to remember that refining the plants into usable oils has a substantial carbon footprint. There's also a concern that farms growing plants for PLA may displace traditional farms designed for food production. Finally, many material producers are mixing hemp, bamboo, and other natural materials into PLA. This may introduce "impurities" into the PLA recycling or composting process and lower the ability to recycle the material again and again. Hope that helps.
@@mardisbagley5072 thank you lots for your response Mardis, so insightful and remarked some cons I read other experts have pointed out too! Already a fan of the channel, may the great work continue to fruition! I stumbled across PLA when researching options for popular (cost-effective) bio materials that may support additives for plastic alike mechanical properties (like high impact strength and elasticity) and can also be pigmented without spoiling its bio properties for a small-sized product. I will continue to weigh the pros and cons of other materials. Any thoughts on another candidate? Maybe Material ConneXion is another place to continue reading into 😅. Thank you!
This is amazing! I travel iinternationally, teaching teachers how to raise creative children. I will start using this video and its concept to talk about raising creative thinkers and challenge teachers to teach students to think and design for the future planet! Thank you can't wait to see more!
I’ve seen this in person and in case you don’t know it’s me Rhys
Hello it’s me I was featured in this
I learned a lot of great terms and will continue my research on them. I needed this for my ideal job interview and to become a better example in the building materials industry. Thank you 🙏
That's awesome! Knowledge is power. Now go get that job!
Thank You 🙏
Color is my passion too ! Thank you 🙏
🩵 This is not a coincidence that I found your website! Thank you so inspiring.
I like how you outline the realities of recycled plastics that many seem to gloss over when mentioning it.
the problem with most design videos is they just explain vague definitions and talk as if they are talking about some high IQ thing, not a single short in this video in this actually covered or even talked about the core concepts, how you make decisions about ergonomic design, how and where to put modularity, what are the governing rules, how to include 5th percentile etc etc. Bulshit this is, just some fancy music and extreme bulshit.
Hi, Thank you for making such nice videos on different and vast topics. One day I would really love to have these conversations with you in person.
Hi Phnam and Mardis - as I said previously I love your vibe, I'm a fan! I'm bringing the message and presenting ideas for my company to follow more sustainable practices almost obsessively...I get occasional successes but it is more of a marathon, not a sprint Wishing you all the best and that you expand to Switzerland :)
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad to hear you are pushing the boundaries of sustainability in your own practice! Keep up the great works!
This is the best video on sustanability in design that I have ever seen. Fantastic stuff!
Wow. Thanks! We always try to distill the concepts down to something everyone can remember and practice to make the world a better place.
Such a inspir video, really shows the variety of the colour can be in design
Wow that’s amazing explanation, i hope engineers start to produce high level content such as this
I feel like la-z-boy to aeron is missing a few steps and is maybe just incorrect as a narrative lol
I LOVE this journey that you are on and hopefully Designing for the Planet will become the thing that we as humans embrace.
That’s my dream job!! How can I work with you??
Wow, this is a low key crash course altogether❤ such a nice channel to learn the untaught aspects of design in schools . Kudos to nonfiction for making this available for those who are in need but can't afford to pay to learn like me.
Plastics made from seaweed and other natural products like corn is the way forward. So many plastics today have PFAS and other harmful chemicals in them. In fact, *cleanly burning* old plastics to make electricity may be better than trying to recycle old style plastics.
hi! nice video once again! please note there is a typo in the thumbnail :)
I find it so weird that your videos get only a small amount of views! Your content is very good, videos are short and informative! Thank you for your work❤

Thanks for watching!
Empowering video!👏
Good video, it should have more views. I wonder if 'The Algorithm' picked-up on your criticism of social media. I think you are right in saying that social media is a negative. Studies have shown that. One possible disagreement I have, is the idea that the 'internet of things' is necessarily a good thing. It *could* be, but it could also be used to implement over-bearing government control of people. Or it could be used to incessantly target-advertise to people (more than currently), and lead to a society addicted to buying every new thing, causing more dissatisfied people, and more environmental pollution. Hopefully not. Anyway, keep up the good work!
I’m a kombucha brewer and am excited to see what we can make from SCOBYs.
Thank you for the inspiration on every video from Future Future. I love your work guys! Amazing!
Thank you for watching!
This is great I must confess. I want to ask what your best 3 CAD softwares are in your design journey
Hi Nbyak. Thanks for watching! We use 1. Rhino 3D because it has great surfaces, can import/export many formats, and is reasonably priced. 2. Autodesk Alias is the best at creating and manipulating complex surface geometry. Lots of car designers use it. It's really pricy though. 3. Fusion 360 is the best of all worlds. It does great surfacing, parametric modeling, has a great history tree, and we use it to output g-code for our CNC. We use many others, like Grasshopper and Gravity sketch too.
Fantastic episode!! It's amazing to see how the AI have been take a great place in the industry, an intresting case is generative design. I hope to see you soon!!
Dear Phnam and Mardis - Love your message and vibe. I'll do my best to promote your message so that it can reach all my (humble) network. As the dark clouds come in we need the light of positive messages like yours to survive and prosper....
Hi Tiago. Thanks for your kind words. It's a message that we should all be thinking about, whether designing, buying products, or investing in companies. Cheers to a better future!
Any thoughts on how these principles could be applied to transportation. It would be incredible if we could create a sense of euphoria for transit riders.
Thanks for watching, Robert. We're with you on applying this to transportation, and actually have already thought about it.
