Phnom Penh, the vibrant capital of Cambodia, is a city where history, culture, and modernity blend seamlessly. Nestled along the banks of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers, this bustling metropolis is known for its golden spires, colonial architecture, and bustling markets. At its heart lies the iconic Royal Palace, with its glittering Silver Pagoda, and the somber Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a poignant reminder of the nation’s history. Phnom Penh's riverside promenade, lined with cafes and restaurants, offers stunning sunset views and a lively atmosphere. A hub of tradition and transformation, Phnom Penh invites visitors to explore its rich heritage, dynamic street life, and warm Khmer hospitality.
The S-21 Museum (Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum) and the Killing Fields (Choeung Ek) in Cambodia are haunting reminders of the Khmer Rouge regime's brutal legacy from 1975 to 1979.
S-21, a former high school turned interrogation and detention center, was one of the regime's most notorious prisons. Walking through its stark classrooms, preserved cells, and chilling photographs of prisoners, visitors gain a harrowing insight into the atrocities committed. Personal accounts and artifacts honor the victims, ensuring their stories are never forgotten.
The Killing Fields, located about 15 kilometers from Phnom Penh, were execution sites for prisoners from S-21. Today, it is a tranquil yet somber memorial where mass graves and a central stupa filled with skulls and bones stand as a testament to the estimated 1.7 million lives lost under the regime.
Both sites are powerful places of reflection and learning, shedding light on Cambodia's tragic past while emphasizing the resilience of its people and the importance of remembrance.

    Is it easy enough to get from airport to Venice? Via water bus and google maps work?

    • @thatadventurecouple
      @thatadventurecouple 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      From the airport you can take the bus (cheap and pretty fast), Taxi (fastest but most expensive by far) or ferry (slowest, but cheap and probably more fun). I have not flown into the airport, but I bet it's pretty straightforward where to go when you get there. most of the people are probably heading to the same place. lol There is a train station on the island, so arriving or leaving by train is probably the easiest. When we came in from the Dolomites we had to drop our car off over near the airport (but not at the airport) and then we were able to take a bus to get to the island. Google maps was able to tell us which bus and about when it would arrive. we didn't have to wait very long I think the bus from the airport runs pretty often. If I were flying in I would probably try to take the ferry. I think it's about the same price as the bus, but it will get you in the mood for Venice!

    Highly appreciated. A checkered shirt has NEVER worked with a lederhose. white has always been a good choice. These days also blue works and traditional stripes work. Try Loden Frey, Ludwig Beck or real traditional stores on the country side eg at Tegernsee near the Monasterx/the Brauhaus.

    The harrasment I witnessed of these whale sharks were shocking. The whole experience was a sad travesty. The boats pulled right in front of them with people jumping in and some were not good swimmers at all which meant the whale shark had to change direction. I saw numerous people touch the whale shark. Maybe 1 hour of doing this every three days would be ok, but the harassment is constant, everyday. Cruise ship type tourists and you see a lot of trash in the ocean. Our captain would not stop to pick any of it up, so I didn't tip them. I will never do this again and do not recommend.

    I used that soap a lot when I worked in a pool. It stripped everything off really well but it felt like it would be too harsh on my body and hair. Is there a less harsh bar soap that’s as good

    • @thatadventurecouple
      @thatadventurecouple 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree it can definitely be harsh! Generally if I use the liquid one I dilute it. They do have a sugar soap that is supposed to be more hydrating but I believe it only comes in liquid form and I'm not sure it would be good for other things like washing clothes. Body wash bar soaps that I really like are goat milk ones like Zum Clean (amzn.to/3SweuZA) they have some nice smelling ones that I find to be hydrating. For hair, shampoo and conditioner, there are a handful of different brands that have bars available. I previously used this Hi-Bar mixed pack (amzn.to/3yqDXwH) and thought it was ok. I've heard good things about Kitsch (amzn.to/3LMOLs4). In liquid form I've always loved Eleven Australia and they have a couple of shampoo/condition bars as well (amzn.to/46sZTDY). Hope this helps!

    me and my family arrived London on Wednesday and we bought 4 oysters cards for £126 , and we ride underground from Heathrow airport to Green park. the next day we try to use again in the underground , we all got negative £ 5.6 , the agent told us the card is not valid for the underground , so confused , we can’t even call the Oyster company to ask since we don’t have local phone numbers 😮

    • @thatadventurecouple

      We were only visiting London for a few days, so we found just using tap to pay credit cards was the easiest. I think the oyster cards can save money. But if you aren’t used to how they work then they may be confusing. The ride from the airport into town is kind of pricy though.
