Another cracking video Many thanks
Great upload guys, keep them coming. Kind regards Mike, Norfolk. Tight lines.
Those noisy birds never stop they ruined my viewing this day's angling
Nail clippers, you absolute scrub.
You seem to use extra long net's are they yours or the fishery net's
Those are the fishery nets. Provided at Anglian water reservoirs due to the shrimp
Nice guys😊
Appalling behaviour by those who motored in front of your drift Apart from that, It was an enjoyable video. It looks like you guys had a good day out on the water.
Never seen anything that bad before. It almost felt deliberate
I felt the same way as well. Those guys didn’t look novice to me, they knew exactly what they were doing.
I would love to do the same 😅
Is the water always this clear througout the summer months?
Last 3-4 years it’s been clear in the spring and then has clouded up in the summer. Apparently lots of muscles in the reservoir now so they might be clearing the water 🤷♂️
Great days fishing 🎣, there were some quality fish amongst that lot, I’m up at Farmoor on Monday, will probably fish F1 this time and hopefully snare a nice Browny.
Good luck 🤞
11 fish 🎣 to the net at Farmoor today, the wind was absolutely horrendous, made fishing very difficult, not a single fish on nymphs all on lures ( orange blobs & damsels ) , anything more than a single fly and it quickly became a birds nest. A challenging but still enjoyable day.
Still a good result given the weather.
Went up to Farmoor today, the fishing was off the scale, best value in the country.
Hi Wayne. Glad it’s lifting as I’m going tomorrow 😂. Buzzers?
@@beardybrosflyfishing3736 I fished F2 at the top of the West Bank and around the corner on the causeway, FAB on the point with 2 crisp packet buzzers, had about 15 fish 🎣 mainly on the middle buzzer, BUT ! the action really kicked off when I moved away from the other anglers and walked round the corner onto the causeway, I swapped the FAB for a Red Fritz squirmy worm and 2 Buzzers, a bite every cast for 90 mins before I sadly had to go home, every fish on the squirmy, they were just running off with it, the wind was tricky on the causeway, flat calm on the West Bank.
F1 was lifting today as well. Lots to the net and some large residents. Video coming soon. Love Farmoor in this mood
A great day’s fishing, well done!👍 😊
Is that one of the vision range of rods you are using ?
Yes, an Onki. I love it. Slightly softer action than a lot of rods but it suits my casting. Good distance but you can feel it
How many days after they had stocked?
Not for a month or so. Just lucky timing with the warmer weather waking the buzzers and fish up!
Looks like you had a good day, love the straight line nymphing, bites are savage 😂.
Can't beat it!
I had much better conditions than you a few days previous, much warmer in fact I’d say as close to perfect as you can get.
Paid a visit to Farmoor F1 bank fishing yesterday , it was crazy fishing, 3 rainbows on the bank in the first 5 casts, lost count in the end, the fact that I only moved twice all day is telling, normally I have a no bite in 30 min I move rule, great fishing, 6 hrs seemed like 5 minutes.
Brilliant. Love it when F1 switches on. Are they on the buzzers yet?
Yes !!!! before I arrived I had a few idea’s, but when I got out the car there were buzzers everywhere so I had a rapid rethink, I set up 2 rigs a Washing Line and a Reverse Washing line, both rigs had the same flies Coral FAB, Cormorant and a Red Cheek Buzzer, every time the sun came out or went in I swapped rigs, I caught all day on either the Buzzer or the FAB not a single fish on the Cormorant 🤷♂️, some of the hits very brutal, awesome days fishing.
What line are you fishing there please? (As in, whose slow intermediate is it?)
Hi. It’s a slow intermediate, Cortland Blue
Nice to see you guys back on the water.
Thanks. Back issues last year curtailed the fishing but hopefully on the mend now and more fishing to come!
I’ve watched all your Farmoor videos as I’m a very sad individual 😅, I used your tactics as a starting point in unfavourable conditions and caught fish so can’t complain , I’ve been travelling up from Winchester over the last couple of months and really enjoy fishing F1 from the bank, what time of year is a boat necessary and how much do they cost to hire ? does the bank fishing completely die ?
I’m glad they’re useful! Things should start picking up now off the bank and you should get a good couple of months. As it gets really cold the fish go deep and move out from the banks so better to get a boat - probably mid December to late March. As it warms up the fish will move back close to the banks. I think a boat is £20. Might see you on the bank sometime. I’m not far away from Winchester!
I’m probably up there on Sunday, had a really good day on the North Bank F1 Sunday gone, nothing for 4hrs, switched to a small lure casting up and down the drop off left and right and it went relatively crazy, I fished the dries for 90 mins in bright conditions with a bit of right to left chop and had a lot of hits but couldn’t make any stick, very frustrating. I’m an ex course match angler who’s only just switched codes so I’m on a steep learning curve, absolutely love the fly fishing.
We're enjoying the films mate keep going have a look at ours up here in scotland 😊😊
Well done, good effort, thanks for posting. Kind regards Mike. Norfolk.
good video, would be nice to know the flies and depth, retrieve etc, thanks.
Where do you buy the day ticket is there a shop
If you’re bank fishing then just rock up and start - they come round in a van for payment. If boating then you’ll need to call and book first
Is that a Vision Onki rod? How do you find it?
@@davidbenjamin5356 yes, love it. Has a slower action which suits me but casts beautifully
Classic Hampshire chalk stream country that. Good fishing fella, never a wasted day on the Test.
Awesome video bruh!
Hi, I think that it was yourself that gave a review of the Airflo +40 fly line. I was considering buying the 40+ floating line. I’m not too sure to be honest. Anyway I enjoyed your video & that water is crystal clear so good fishing. Tight lines. Derick.
That warter is crystal clear
great vid, you had all the bank to yourself
Hi, Forgot to ask, what are the make of gloves you were wearing in this video?
Great video, it was a tad windy though eh
Just on the edge of manageable. Gloves are Seal Skinz - fingerless with mittens. They are great for winter fishing
@@beardybrosflyfishing3736 Thanks for the info, will have a search round to find some. Much Appreciated 👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
@@beardybrosflyfishing3736 Hi Again, so you would recommend the seal skinz fingerless mittens then? Cheers 👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
@@bobturner8323 I love them
Cheers.
Lying in bed and skipped into the video straight to "deeper, faster" my wife lying next to me - "that's what she said" lol
😂
I cut my fly fishing teeth on Farmoor back in 1985. The fish seemed a lot bigger back in them days.
Lovely video. One of my favourite places. It's been a while so it was nice to see what it's like now
Nice job gents, there yesterday 4 th June. Hares ears and stripped booby on hang at old hall bay area. 20 plus great day had. Keep the films coming dudes .
Good
What's the reel you're using there looks solid nice fishing keep posting.
Wychwood sla. Great bit of kit with changeable spools
Thanks for insight. Is the rod a Vision Onki ?
Yes it is. Lovely rod. Bit more of a relaxed action; suits my casting
@@beardybrosflyfishing3736 Yes I like mine which is a 10ft 6wt.
Nice video m8 is that a shooting line your using?
No just standard line. Airflo fast intermediate and Cortland blue slow intermediate
Nice!
I live near Maidstone after about a fifteen year break mainly due to health concerns this year I will be getting back on a boat at Bewl very soon. Have been tying up a storm refilling my boxes. It will be great to get back into the sport I love.
Maybe a chance with early buzzer and long leader....and that ultra slow retrieve ?...Tight lines and good days in April Simon A,Didsbury
Is there any pike in draycote
Not that I’m aware of. Eyebrook and the Anglian waters have predator fishing
Yes I caught a 15lb pike on the fly (not targeted) 2 weeks ago at Draycote. A nice surprise!
Nice upload, thanks for posting, never fished Bewl my self. Kind regards Mike. Norfolk. Tight lines.
Glad you liked it 👍
Nice video, thank you. A very fast retrieve I have to give that a go.
why do you put music on? I am sorry I stopped watching once that came on.
When it’s very windy, all you can hear is wind noise. So it’s either that, silence or music. Personally, I prefer the music 😁
@@beardybrosflyfishing3736 You can move the sound track or turn the wind noise volume down. It is not a problem, but at least you know why I gave up watching it. I like feedback on my videos, it helps me evolve my thinking. Best wishes
Hi. Great video. I'm bank fishing this Saturday for the 1st time... Any tips? Might see you down there 1 day 👍
It’s tricky this time of year. Start deep and slow. If it’s warm the fish might come up a bit midday. I’d start on F1, off the causeway or by the water tower if wind allows
Great to see some info on fishing Farmoor. There seems to be very little out there in regards to very early fishing (Jan/Feb). I'm hoping to try on the 2nd/3rd Feb from the bank. Any pointers or tips? Would F1 or F2 be best? I did manage one off the Bank (West side of F1) on 31st Jan but other than the 2 knocks and the fish i landed there was nothing happening. Admittedly it was quite fresh and cold with a bit of sun.
It’s tricky from the bank at this time of year - the fish go deep and it difficult to get out far enough and deep enough from the bank. I’d target the brownies on F1 from the east bank (by tower) or causeway - they seem to maintain position in the colder months rather than going deeper like the rainbows. Otherwise get a boat on F2 and get down deep with a booby - lots of fish happy to take a fly fished slow. Either way, its all about getting the depth right.
What is the name and weight of the blue line you was useing also how was the leader please.
It’s a 7 weight Cortland Blue intermediate. Was about 12 ft leader with a dropper at 6ft
Nice
Slow trolling then
Nice video mate👍 Was there myself today, back drifting with boobies for the first time. Had 8 to the boat, lost four and a monstrous pike. All on a pink snake boobie. I discovered that if you line strike instead of striking, lifting the rod you end up converting more takes. All the best mate tight lines 👍
Excellent video, thanks for uploading. Happy new year, Mike Norfolk. Tight lines.
