When cutting a record with one long dynamically varied side and one shorter loud-all-the-time side, would a cutting engineer tend to vary the groove spacing to cram in the grooves during quiet sections? Seems silly to keep the groove width a constant in that scenario. Also, if one side ends with a fade out, wouldn’t it make sense to cut further into the middle than the other side without worry about loss of fidelity?

I’ve purchased a few Verve by Request vinyl releases and not a single was free of the flaws mentioned in this clip. I ended up returning all but one. So to anyone considering purchasing any of their releases I suggest reading reviews on Discogs before you buy. It’s too bad because they press some interesting titles but unfortunately the QC team is out to lunch.
