14 - Marina pontoons: Campbeltown beneath the surface
In the pearl of Kintyre for a deep dive into what really goes on beneath the surface of this unique town.
The heroes of this film are the humble seaweeds, the modest anemones, the elegant but rather bashful jellyfish and the innumerable fish which swim about Campbeltown Loch in all weathers. Just as the English like to support the underdog, so Scots reveal their compassion by taking as least as generous a view of the underfish.
As Scots, we celebrate our love of fish by eating them, most commonly with chips. Being equal opportunity consumers, we take the proudly Scottish view that “a fish’s a fish for a’ that”, even if sometimes improved with a good shake of salt and vinegar.
No fish were eaten, however, in the making of this video. Mixing business with pleasure usually ruins the pleasure.

13 - Just the Vibration - a sunny afternoon with a slightly restless sea

12 - Crabs and fish among the gently waving weeds
A quiet but calming film, in which the weeds lend context to the crabs and bottom fish who live in eternal (and blissful) ignorance of all we consider important in life - indeed in all we consider unimportant too. In fact, they are AS ignorant of everything we do, think or say as we are of what THEY do or think!!! Ask yourself: when did you last have a catch-up with a crab or a well-camouflaged...
11 - Rock pools at evening, with all the underwater world foraging and feeding
As the sun sets, everyone comes out for the "evening rise". Really - needs a big screen. Not much visible on a phone or bendoscope.
10 - After dusk - slow and interesting, then the wind gets up and clouds fly across the moon
Follows on from previous (09) but later - bright moonlight in shallow water to begin with, then the scene darkens under a moonlight shadow
09 - Waving weeds at dusk
In a rocky cove on the east side of the island, as the light slowly fades - in a slight swell the weeds sway elegantly, inviting the viewer to join them in reflecting the universal vibration in arrhythmic movement, while being completely unaware of what is going on above the surface, and indeed anything happening below it beyond their immediate surroundings.
08 - Atlantic coast in sunlight and a lingering swell, with different weeds, many green
It was a bright, sunlit afternoon on the west coast of the island. The remains of a swell were coming in from the north-west There skerries off-shore break the force of the waves in many parts of the coast, leaving the inner rocks, on sand, as the habitat for weeds of a very different sort from many of those on the eastern, more sheltered coast.
07 - Two rock pools - fish, shrimps and crabs live peacefully together
Another illustration of the possibilities for peaceful co-existence in unregulated nature which conventional science seems to ignore. Our civilisation is so fixated on competition as a way of life that it projects the principle onto creatures with a very different approach to life. Watch these crabs, fish and shrimps living quietly together in a temporary community while the tide goes out, but ...
06 - Neptune's wavy garden - let the rhythms of the sea soak into your soul
Dwell a wellness pause on the sandy shore beneath the kelp and greenhair, which are swaying in a swell which is damped by being in more sheltered water round the headland from open sea. It is also recommended that you select your won music to accompany your meditative viewing. The sea has rhythm too!
05 - A calm evening below the surface
A calm evening on the east coast of the island. Some colourful weed in still water, though the sea gets a little more active once the sun comes out, later. Long clips, quiet and meditative
04 - Rock pools on the west coast - long and slow, with shrimps, crabs and fish
It was a cloudy day, with rain coming on later. The tide was ebbing, leaving small, temporary communities of sea creatures and plants in tidal pools waiting for the flow to re-start, and for new visitors to arrive. This was filmed on the Atlantic coast of Great Todday, where wave action is more violent since it takes the brunt of the storms as the prevailing wind is from the south-west. Notice ...
03L - Greenweed and kelps - the long version for serious meditators
Same scenes as 03, but not cut for length. This is more in tune with the mood of the sea, which can never be hurried. Serious meditators will appreciate the freedom it gives for non-verbal rumination and for full psychic relaxation
03 - Greenweed and kelps on rocks and stones, swaying in calm weather
A variety of weeds on a rocky part of the east coast of the island, but with stone and coarse sand as well. Weeds swaying beautifully in calm weather at evening. Feel free to play whatever music you think appropriate to accompany the visuals, but not so loud that you cannot hear the sound of the water.
02 - Kelp beds on a stony shore in fairly calm weather
Kelp and related seaweeds sway in harmony with the waves to help you relax and meditate on the rhythms of the universe as felt through the sea
01 - Introduction - a rocky creek

Moving media for marine meditation There was a time when the earth was without form, and was void. In those days, there was darkness on the face of the deep. Nowadays, however, we can see behind that face and into the deep - well, in this case, into the shallows of the coastal world of seaweed, tidal pools and other aspects of the life soup from which we all emerged in the distant past, long be...
