Did AI Write This Chord Progression?
Can AI really write a great chord progression? In this video, we put it to the test!
Starting with a simple prompt, "Give me a chord progression starting with Am7 and Cmaj7," we explore the smooth, jazzy progression AI came up with and break it down for musicians and music enthusiasts.
And I reveal my process of using virtual instruments for turning this AI chord progression into a song.
From rich harmonies to creative chord voicing, we analyse what makes this AI chord progression tick. Whether you’re curious about AI in music or just love a good jazz groove, this video has something for everyone.

That sucked! Better to learn some harmony and create yourself!
😂 If I didn’t understand harmony I wouldn’t have been able to write the melody hook or the guitar parts. And thanks for stopping by.
Dear Annie... Have mercy, baby, on a poor girl like me You know I'm falling, falling, falling at your feet I'm tingling right from my head to my toes So help me, help me, help me make the feeling go 'Cause when the lovin' starts and the lights go down And there's not another living soul around You woo me until the sun comes up And you say that you love me Have pity, baby, just when I thought it was over And now you got me runnin', runnin', runnin' for cover I'm begging you for a little sympathy And if you use me again, it'll be the end of me 'Cause when the lovin' starts and the lights go down But there's not another living soul around You woo me until the sun comes up And you say that you love me Baby, baby, hope you're gonna stay away 'Cause I'm getting weaker, weaker every day I guess I'm not as strong as I used to be And if you use me again, it'll be the end of me 'Cause when the lovin' starts and the lights go down There's not another living soul around You woo me until the sun comes up And you say that you love me 'Cause when the lovin' starts and the lights go down There's not another living soul around You woo me until the sun comes up And you say that you love me Say that you love me Say that you love me Falling, falling, falling Falling, falling, falling (yeah) Falling, falling, falling Falling, falling, falling Falling, falling, falling Falling, falling, falling
Love watching you build this from scratch. Great finished sound.
Thank you. 🙏
Drummer here. Really clean sound guys! I can tell you put some work into this! One thing I did notice though, is when the rhythm guitar eighth notes came in at the 0:20 mark, I felt like something was missing, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. So I searched for a guitar cover of this song and found this. th-cam.com/video/oOqSCljVJpA/w-d-xo.html If you go to the same section at the 0:15 mark, you can see that his pinkie is hitting that F on the 6th fret of the b-string on the second half of the measure. That half step up really hits the listener's ear, so it needs to be there. Now I know you guys tuned down by half a step, so obviously it wouldn't be that same note, but I think you know what I mean. I think if you added that it would make the intro stronger. Just my two cents. Anyway, nice vid! Cheers!
@@circuitdesign wow! Thanks for the detail.
good singer nice
weird ... 232 Well done - subscribed!
#232 - well done. Subscribed!
Very smooth, I guess I'm old-school and I just record all the physical instruments myself into tracking, the only thing that sucks is the drumming, that could take forever if you do it on your own. But I guess there's always some level of interpretation.
Amei!!!
Absolutely beautiful 👏.
Very good job, guys, I love the band's vibes!
Glad you like it
Brillant well done Tks
Thank you
I love how the guy playing the Epiphone Les Paul doesn't try to copy the tone of the record. He uses his own tone and it sounds great.
Absolutely fantastic 👏👏.
Thank you so much 😀
Awesome song from you guys and love the singers voice
Thanks :)
Super nice, all of you are great 🌟🙌🤗
Thank you so much 😀
the guitar is the hardest instrument to mimic on keyboard.
Yes it is, although I'll be making a video soon showcasing a fantastic VST plugin for Funk Guitar :)
and Brass instruments
merci pour la vidéo 😊
Thanks :)
Beauty ful song girl
I have a musician friend who swears by using only virtual instruments to make his last pop punk album. And I knew your track had real guitar in it because his never sounds as good as yours did. But hearing how polished his drums sounded was surprising. Which made me lean into my approach even more. Organic, avoid quantization, lots of room sound, slightly abrasive. Because the more I perfect the take and the more I tweak the mics, and the more I obsess over effects…the closer it gets to sounding like programmed drums! Anyways, rant over, good content, keep up the good work!!
Thanks for stopping by - appreciate the kind words.
I just don't understand your hair and glasses. I want to take in your information but the "persona" you are creating just distracts me completely. I hope I'm not coming off as an asshole. I really just want to help you by pointing out what is getting between me and your message. I feel like you are a "punk" artist who is talking about digital instruments. Those two things just don't go together in my brain and I can't get into what you're saying.
Well I hope my midlife mohawk and blue light blocking glasses don't get in the way for too long. No plans to change who I am anytime soon :)
One of the best investments I have made in the past few years, were absolutely the more professional virtual instruments /sample libraries. They simply lift up your production level's end result A LOT. Like: seriously a lot.
100% agree.
Great to hear you talking about a passion, Troy. Looking forward to hearing about the history of MIDI.
Thanks Dan.
SUPER!
that was totally a subscribe, just like that. What you guys do takes a effort and a great love for the classics.
Much appreciated!
Not often I'm moved to comment on covers bands, but wow - from the moment the lead singer opened her mouth...what a voice.
Yep - we think so too.
Amazing! Great cover❤
bass mix volume is too high, overwhelming. other that. is excellent vocal!

Melbourne? I've heard of that place, Mighta bin good ole Flinders Naval base, Went there three times
WOW. Lead singer NAILED IT! Great job! 😄😃🤩
Yep - she's awesome.
Finally someone making a cool cover of an amazing song and not some pretentious version? Amazing!
Well played guys! But, you'll NEVER get that exact sound they had, unless you play a Rickenbacker guitar as he did.
hmm the timbre is good imho, the guitar should have a little more treble.
Is it me or is his guitar way of key
Maybe it's the chorus effect on the guitar that you're hearing.
Loved it! The “right, done, lets go home” to finish cracked me up too 😂
Great video and sound!
Always been one of my favorite songs
Good old 80s music - love it :)
Great all round, don't get me wrong, but BRILLIANT lead guitar, who the heck is that? edit - oh I see his name in the credits ha ha - most impressed!
Clean sound dude, loving it
Great stuff Troy
Thanks Mike :)
