You can't make more mistakes. Check out TH-cam to see how the Japanese do it. The old, hardened kanuma must get out of the root ball, otherwise your plant will take care of it and not survive for long. You have to create a trainage layer with coarse kanuma first in the shell. Then you can fill with finer kanuma around the root ball. Do not forget to stuff with a stick until the plant is firm. Only then tie the wire. Pour azaleas with rainwater.

Olá, acabei de descobrir seu canal, parabéns! Faço bonsai há um ano e meio e acabei de comprar minhas primeiras azaleias no supermercado, são dois potinhos com quatro mudas cada. Estou querendo separar elas o quanto antes, mas as primeiras flores estão começando a abrir, duas ou três flores e o resto está cheio de botões fechados. Ouvi dizer que as flores consomem muita energia e deixam a planta fraca, mas não sei se isso diz mais respeito à produção dos botões ou à manutenção das flores abertas. Faria alguma diferença se eu cortar todos os botões agora e aguardar algumas semanas para transplantar, ou não é recomendável? Estou no Rio de Janeiro, as temperaturas já atingiram mínimas de 15-16º, duvido que baixe muito mais por aqui. Obrigado!

I wouldn't remove these new shoots completely. The leaves around your flower bud will fall off. You need new leaves on every branch. If you want to reduce the size of a shoot or branch, either cut back to two shoots two leaves, or cut into old wood. If you want to maintain the current size, cut back to two shoots and two leaves. You will get backbudding. With this method of pruning, the tree will just try to the same thing again. A tree is a living organism. You cannot force it to be static. You have to go with the flow of the growth. I don't know which experts told you to do this. This also is not a technique with a Japanese name. The Japanese haves names for several pruning techniques/methods. I don't know which one this is. You would only do this if you want to display a tree, the old leaves look perfectly healthy, and new growth could obscure the flowers. When I see these new shoots in spring I am always relieved. I can't imagine removing them all. If anything, remove those beyond 2.

Brilliant video. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. A pity you didn't put this up 12 months ago! Unfortunately I purchased a small-medium satsuki about 18 months ago and it deteriorated over last summer. I'm just a beginner so I thought it must have been my treatment. When I got it it was in typical wet soil so I repotted in kanuma after flowering last may. I just put the deterioration down to the repot. At the moment, all leaves have fallen off. Its pushing tiny new growth but I fear it's too late. I treated it with fungicide two weeks ago. 🤞. Thanks again for the brilliant video. I hope you continue to make content. P.S. Aqui no Brasil uso nas minhas, basacote 14-14-14, adubação orgânica com torta de mamona, farinha de ossos e cinzas, e Rego a cada 15 dias com biofertilizante de compostagem... estão super saudáveis...
