If it is an unskilled trait test at d4-2, does the wild die become a d6-2. Similarly, if there is additional difficulty penalties (ie -1 for dim light), then is the the wild die d6-1. Nobody seems to address this in their videos. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

Modifiers are applied after you determine the higher roll. if you rolled a 3 (d4) and a 5 (d6) on an unskilled trait test, you got a 3 (5 - 2). hope that helps

Yes it does, any bonus or penalities also applies to the wild die.

Thank you the straight forward explanation. Also, I caught the Scott Brown T-shirt tip of the hat!

This video series has been the single most helpful resource I've found on TH-cam for learning Savage Worlds and I'd like to thank you Robert. Even if it's taking absurd amounts of time between videos. Lol. Top notch.

“Scott Brown mother trucker get the truck out I’ve got a showing.” Thanks for the videos I’m just getting started in Savage Worlds system and they have been very helpful.

These videos are amazing! Please continue them! I've had my eye on Savage Worlds for a few months but was hesitant since GURPS and Basic Roleplaying exist, but these series of videos pretty much sold me.

Another thing to keep in mind with your stats, best to take all the ones you want/can right away, because you only get to raise One Per Rank, not Advancement. It is the fastest way to advance, Start Well. I almost always start with all D6s and then put as much as I can into my one "primary", usually Smarts or Agility

Thank you for pointing that out. It is a good idea to plan your character's growth, even if just a little, and the limit of one attribute increase per rank is a bit limiting.

    Character advancement starts at 10:57.

Nice job! I'm glad you went beyond the rules with your preferred shortcuts, and built a non-fantasy character. I think it'd be helpful for players if you address combat and go beyond the rules to include basic combos (wild card + multiple attacks, defend while withdrawing, move-shoot-move).

I'm working on the Trait Test, Combat, and Wild Card video now and I'll try to include that, though it may end up in an Advanced Combat and Other Rules video later. Is there anything else you would like me to cover?

@@redshirtrobert1410 For the GM: Nobody ever covers running chase rules with exciting examples. You could probably do four chases: On foot, in cars, air and space dogfights, and pirate battles at sea. On the ground there are obstacles (crowds, cabbage carts). In the sky there may be nothing but clouds. At sea the time scale is different.

@@redshirtrobert1410 For players: Using tests in combat (Taunt, Intimidate, Feint). When to push, and disarm... We'd get a lot more variety in combat if players were comfortable with these options. And social situations, perhaps a verbal duel or interrogation.
