Just so you all know, the proper way to cut this would have been: Make the undercut more open so it doesn’t close so quickly once the tree begins to fall. Bore through the middle of the tree and set your hinge to the correct thickness (about 1-1.5” for a tree this size). Keep the saw in the bored kerf and cut toward the back of the tree until you have about 3” of holding wood for a “trigger.” Take the saw out of the kerf and pop the trigger from the back of the tree and a little below the bore kerf.

I run up on the tree and jump up and down, then try keep my balance and leap out of the way when it finally snaps. If I fall, I try to lessen the impact with my hands and roll away, praying the tree doesn't roll over on me. Works every time 👍

Widen the angle of that notch and straighten out the back cut. It was hanging on the notch because it wasn't steep enough. With the right prep and practice you'll get it.

First if you are that scared you shouldn’t be cutting a tree to begin with. Second where is the proper PPE? Chainsaw pants, steel toe boots, eye protection, face shield, hard hat, hearing protection

the log leans on the face cut and stops hinging, the mistake is unique as the tree should've fallen anyway because the leaning is too big it's obvoius that the tree will fall to the leanig direction.. but that's what expected from family arborist who prbably just doing it on the first time. please be extremely careful and cautious for your safety

Yes it did he didn't cut his notch right and his back cut was off line that's why he didn't have any hinge wood for the tree to fall after the back cut. All wrong!
