"Goodnight" on Hammered Dulcimer
Originally a piano piece recorded by Helen Jane Long for her album Intervention. A wonderful, soothing lullaby I that thought would do well on the Hammered Dulcimer. Please go listen to Helen Jane Long's version too!

Again well done.

Hi Daniel! Everyone's experience is different I'm sure but I picked up on playing the hammered dulcimer pretty quickly. This was after failing at the guitar. I had never played an instrument before trying the hammered dulcimer. Like most instruments, the price range is pretty broad. You can get your hands on a used one for a few hundred dollars all the way up to custom models that can push $7,000 - $8,000. I would definitely suggest watching Jess Dickinson's instruction videos (th-cam.com/video/WVHRHArEiLU/w-d-xo.html) even before you buy one. I watched them for a few months before buying my first dulcimer just to get a good feel for how to play and to see if I thought I could play it. Also, the dulcimer community is very generous with answering questions, sharing tips and just helping each other in general. You may see if there's a festival near you. Those are great for hearing the music, meeting people and checking out the different dulcimer makers. I hope that's helpful. Happy to answer any other questions you may have!

I heard a few boo-boos at the end, but that song is VERY difficult to play flawlessly with the dulcimer. At any rate, it sounded great!! Thanx for the tutorial! On another note, there is a song by a popular Mexican pop band Timbiriche called "Princesa Tibetana", and I believe that the whole rhythm driving force is on a dulcimer. I'd love to see you play it live on video. It's an arrpegiated (sp?)Gmajor, Fmajor, and Cmajor, simple but sounds awesome... th-cam.com/video/atM_amERRjE/w-d-xo.html
