Pour ce que j'en sais d'après sa biographie, c'est tout de même une grande professionnelle, elle a étudié à la mélodie française avec de grands maîtres, je ne saurai me prononcer ni sur la technique ni sur le style mais j'observe que quand une chanteuse d'origine étrangère se dévoue pour le répertoire français ça ne peut que forcer le respect et l'admiration. Quand à tous les merveilleux critiques anglophones nous attendons avec plaisir leur merveilleuses versions.

La prise de son est catastrophique. Mais la diction est de bonne qualité, on reconnait ici les facultés des chanteurs bulgares à se transposer dans l'univers de la langue française. Extrêmement complexe pour un non francophone de chanter de la mélodie française, surtout dans ces conditions d'enregistrement.

The comments here are horrid. I think she sang beautifully and even if it wasn't excellent in the technical aspect, there's no need to be so harsh. People learn. Learning takes time. If you have advice to posit, go ahead - politely. If all you have is bitter criticism that is in no way constructive, fuck off. Nobody should tell any singer to stop singing. That is not music. Music isn't just about sounding good, it's also about being free to express what is in you. I'm really disappointed to see that a lot of people in the opera or classical music community are snobs, just like the stereotype.

She has a beautiful warm timbre. She looks very energetic but because of pedagogical problems, she sounds very tight! I bet if she can relax her body, especially her face, her vibrato will be more consistent and even a large voice like hers will resonate even more. She seems very tight around her mouth because she is opening and spreading so much as she moves through her passaggio and upper register. She has the right idea, but this is the case where there is too much; this is rare. Good effort!

Beautifully rich voice, her placement is perfect, dispite the over brightness of some notes at times, and the slipping tuning, this voice is sublime. Her Italian is also very beautiful.

It is very instructive and helpful to watch/listen to a singer who has difficulties--at times more instructive than one with a perfect technique.

I agree with Leinaah & Kaykole but I also find she is more authentic than lots of other singers...

This is truly awful. Vocal technique is is swallowed and unfocussed, tempo is busy, busy, busy. And lots of wasted body energy.

@BrianDonaldMcKay it may also depend on her range, sometimes if a note is a little high, one may sacrifice diction so that the note can just come out right. . . or maybe she she does need better pronunciation, i don't know. Either way, I think she did a good job, and I certainly wouldn't say the song is wasted on her

Tiene algunas desafinaciones, la acústica del lugar no le favorece, no es que no tenga voz por que si tiene y es muy buena. Podría ser mejor.

@Terra88100 I like the voice and technique but I think the cloudy recording allows you to fill in the gaps for her. In the opening line I hear: "La (sic) long (d') quai l' grands v(ai)sseaux". French singers never - or rarely - fail to pronounce every syllable clearly, even those off the beat. Oh dear, am I being too fussy about this? and yet it is striking for me. If Mme Nikolova were an amateur, I would not have been so forthright.

@BrianDonaldMcKay : Her french is really good (i'm french, so, he...). But i think that's the best interpretation.

Je ne crois pas que le problème soit la prononciation, mais plutôt la prise de son. l'interprétation me semble excellente, au contraire. Good recitation, but bad sound recording...

oh god. Her voice is WAAAY too far back in her throat! Those moves from the high range down are SO ugly.

Can't understand her French. Very little colour or expression. Not good; does she understand the French? Good voice wasted on this song. Or rather, a superb song, wasted on this artist.

I think there's more nasal sounds where they should not be (considering it's French). But for this piece, the voice needs to be kept light. There's nothing wrong with havig the sound in the back, but you need to know when and how, like for more dramatic pieces, this one's not the case though

she has spread her voice into the back of her throat giving her that instability...and strange expression.

I completely disagree, she lacks the intention en energy, and the voice lacks tonus, it is instabile, sometimes a bit off!
