If you'd care to provide some clarification, I'd love to better understand how concentrating on a specific chapter of Jonah constitutes cherry-picking (are other sermons that happen to be based on individual lectionary readings cherry-picking as well?) Also, I seem to remember St. Paul teaching us that the rigid letter of the Law kills, while the Spirit gives life (2 Cor 3:6). Regardless, I would hope that my preaching (at the time of this sermon and now) consistently demonstrates a high regard for the authority of Scripture, and especially its fundamental principles of love of God and neighbour.

Janeway was awesome they just ruined things with Barbie Borg in a catsuit and heels although the writing was all over the place

I think she was fabulous

Voyager's cast was fantastic, and it had a premise with enormous potential... too bad it got handed over to showrunners who didn't even know an ensign is supposed to make lieutenant!

I'd say there's a very select few 'female leads' that genuinely fit into this category, which makes me weary about the generalization of all the others. And even then, it's rarely a constant running pattern in their writing. Dr Weir in Stargate Atlantis has a particularly egrigious scene in the episode '38 Minutes', but I wouldn't for a moment declare that to be the constant of her character. And oh wait, Janeway has had plenty of bossy, demanding, belittling moments of her own! It's almost as if this poor attempt to criticize modern media for actually remembering that people other than white men exist is completely flawed and a strawman at that. :/

Capitans ready room i do believe has 2 entrances mate, directly off the bridge, and a "side" entrace.

I don't know why, but I never saw it as Harry looking as though he had never seen the bridge before. I always look at it as he was in awe of the opportunity of serving there.

i don't believe the other shows had an ensign on the main cast. Wesley was acting ensign in TNG O'Brian was lower ranked than an ensign as he wasn't a commissioned officer on DS9 TOS: i think all the series regulars/main cast were ranked above ensign, but idk what nurse chapel's rank was.

They did he was supposed to represent the everyman journey on their first posting

TOS - Had an ensign, Chekov. He went on to better things. TNG - Had three recurring ensigns: Wes, Ro, Ogawa. All were promoted: Wes to full ensign, other two to lieutenant. DS9 - Had two recurring characters who were ensigns: Ezri and Nog. Both were promoted. VOY - Had a character reduced to ensign. He got promoted back to lieutenant. There was no reason not to promote Harry Kim. None.

Tom had an insouciant way of saying "yes, ma'am", though.

I never noticed that. He'd switch between Captain when doing his job, but ma'am when it called for more sarcasm

Robert Duncan McNeill actually had not been consistent with which one to call Janeway. It depended entirely on which one sounded better when writing the scripts.

I thought the same thing.

There's a second entrance to the ready room. They could have used that...

@@Jess3200 the second door in janeways ready room leads to a toilet, there only one entrance to the readyroom, the schematics confirm this

@@andurilmat Nah, if you watch 'Shattered' - Chakotay takes Janeway out of the second entrance and it leads to a corridor.

@@Jess3200 yep a whole corridor that shouldn't exist the onky reason it exists in that episode, is because of poor writing the writers want chackotay to abducct janeway but had ni way if getting him across thr bridge and if he took a turbo lift security would be waiting for him. it's a mistake, they happen all the time is star trek. just like the enterprise A having at least 78 decks in star trek V or turbolift scene in discovery

He was never promoted because they got stuck in the Delta Quardrant for seven years I think everyone on board stayed at the same rank I am sure by the time of Star trek Picard he is a comander or Captain if he is still in Starfleet

​@llertnac 😂😂😂😂 Lieutenant Commander Tuvok would like to disagree with you. Despite being given the wrong rank on occasion, he was a Lieutenant at the start. Also, Paris got demoted and promoted in the series.
