Leave it to a nerdy child to not have patience for one of the greatest rpgs of all time

I think in just one of my playthroughs (and I've played through this game more times then I can count) I managed to get most of those items. It was from my legit copy and played on a real SNES, and it required a whole lot of grinding and patience. Most of the time I only bother to get 4 Star Pendants. Yes, you read that right, I get 1 for each character. The weird thing is that although it usually takes awhile to get one, once you do get one they drop a lot more often. It's always like that for me, so I suspect that perhaps the odds of a rare drop get better after you get that drop. It could be just coincidence, but I've seen comments from people saying the same thing about the Sword of Kings. After they get it once, they end up getting a few more. Has anyone looked into the code to see if this is a thing?

boney's redeeming factor for me is, to no-ones surprise, his speed. Being able to use healing items or the shield snatcher before anything else happens is so useful

idk if its the fact that i grew up playing stuff on the gba and ds, but the music sounds fine to me

The mother 1 music sounds like it came from a bootleg lolll As for mother 2, It feels like a mixed bag to me. some of them sound "alright" to me. While others like winters/magicant sound like as if the GBA is screaming and/or dying on the side of the road.

the amount of whining you put into this video about putting in effort makes me question why you even bothered making a video in the first place.

By the way, I've attempted to beat the game with keyboard too. This time, I got 100% without dying by collecting everything + beating Anxiety Tower. Mine was less stressful than yours.

It looks ugly even for the NES. OBJECTION! Mother released on the FAMICOM. Not the NES! Idc if anyone says that the NES is another version of the famicom the amount of games the famicom has the the NES doesn’t is enough to separate the two!

When farming for the goddess ribbon have Paula equip the rabbits foot and use the PSI shield so that way you get first move and the ghost of starman gets his attack reflected back to him and eventually destroys him self

I did get the magic pan but it was extremely hard

The GBA was probably the hardest Nintendo hardware to write for and make it sound good, which is one reason Mother 3 is so impressive. Stuff like this is a lot more standard for what often came out of the GBA.

I think Battle Against a Weird Opponent was definitely one of the ones that came across really well on the GBA, those are really tasty drums and the bass isn’t bad, the other samples are ok too.

The reason Jeff couldn’t use smash attacks in the original mother 2 was because he only used gun based weapons, which were purposely made to reliably deal the same amount of damage with no chance of smash attacks. All of Ness’s yo-yos are also gun based attacks, giving Ness a choice between reliability or spontaneity.

Even though most of the audio quality is a downgrade, some select songs I personally like more than the original. Pokey Means Business is an example.

I dont think Ninten should be anywhere near the worst list tbh. I think he's probably the most useful character in the game, specifically because he has the ability to guarantee escaping a battle, meaning you have to deal with fewer BS random encounters. I dont think mount Itoi would be half as bearable without that ability.

Most SNES -> GBA ports had severely butchered audio. I feel like Mother 2 got around this by actually remixing the tunes a little bit to work around the limitations of the GBA's "sound hardware". YMMV on how much you'll enjoy it, but it is way more creative than just "the SNES OST but worse in every way".

Mother 1's music reaks of Sintax's quality & that's saying something. What was so hard with sticking to the GBA's 4 PSG channels used mainly for GB compatibility for a more faithful/pure conversion from the original? Ah well. :D
