    My 8000 BTU Midea AC uses 150 watts on low and runs on a lithium battery and inverter that I can charge when driving or with a solar panel, total cost under $1000.

    Make sure you park in designated areas for campers and RVs and not truck stops since you invested to undercut the trucking industry. You are not a semi truck and have no compliance to use their resources.

    There used to be a company that made rear window Sleepers for pickup trucks just big enough to have a single bed inside. That and I'd love to see somebody actually put together some type of diesel Apu and a separate AC system allowing to disconnect the engine AC compressor to see what type of mile per gallon increase you would get. I'm willing to bet that set up would pay for itself in 2 years or better and be much better return on investment because of the reduction in where on the motor.

    Do you still have this unit? And do you think the ac unit could keep up with texas heat for a truck trying not to idle during the day? I have a job where I'm in the truck all day and idling is costing me a ton of money, do you think the unit could keep the truck, at least where I'm sitting in the seat, comfortable?

    • @gmstrucking155
      @gmstrucking155 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course. I love the unit. I still have it and still is going strong. If its 110 outside and you plan on using it in the blazing sun then you will need to cool the truck off inside with your truck ac for a few then throw on the unit. Otherwise it will take some time to cool the cab down but you will be comfortable for sure. This unit has saved me so much money and maintenance cost.

    Very smart guy. I did the same on my 2012 cascadia. I have a champion 4250 generator since my 5th wheel is enough far away from my cab, and a floor portable 9000 btu a/c, and I connect the ac exhaust in the passenger side window, in a piece of aluminum sheet that I cut molded same like the glass, but leave a hole in where I connect the a/c exhaust. We do what we have to do, to survive in this tough times...😉👍

    My sleep position is same but without a formal mattress per say. I just filled in the low spots on the floor w small pillows then two exercise mats then I cut the foam out of old mattresses 2 layers equalling 9" of foam. Then I go round and round and round just like my dog do and settle in snug as a bug. I sleep better in my truck than I do at home.

  • @AtomicPunx
    @AtomicPunx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a quick question. What happens when a Hotshot CDL driver goes through a check station over weight and gets caught? Do things like that show up on your record? Another thing I would like ask is you dont get your loads scaled to make sure your not overweight? I dont understand why you would think having a CDL makes it so that you dont have to worry about all the things you say non CDL drivers have to worry about. When in fact I think having a CDL is indeed much more responsibility as you are carrying more weight.

    • @gmstrucking155
      @gmstrucking155 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you register your weight at 40,000 pounds you should never exceed that because you’re equipment would be over burden. All you have to consider is to never get a load over 18-20,000lbs. So depending on the equipment you’re running will dictate how much you can haul, but that only relates to how long you want your equipment to hold up not DOT. Non cdl you must always be cautious DOT knows non cdl do not follow the rules the majority of the time. I’m not saying all the time. If you go into a weigh station over weight then you will be shut down and have to off load weight to be legal, or they will just cite you, and yes if you get a citation it will go on your safety record.

  • @AtomicPunx
    @AtomicPunx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I enjoy the content btw! I dont know why it sounded like Non CDL Hotshot drivers were doomed at weigh stations but I cant tell you just as many CDL drivers have just as much trouble as well if not more if they get shut down. Simply because 9/10 times Its not the license that gets you in trouble! Its something with the load / paperwork. If you get shut down your truck and trailer is not going anywhere. As long as your non CDL license is valid you could possibly unhook and drive away to go get done what you need to get done. Just because you have a CDL does not mean your immune to getting fines. Not to mention as a CDL license holder when you get points on your CDL it looks very bad. Some companies will not hire you based on how many points you have. So thats something to think about as well. Imo the only advantage to having a CDL is going to be weight you can move down the road! And thats with a truck and trailer rated to do that. You can make good money moving less than 26k weight. Thanks for the video!

    • @gmstrucking155
      @gmstrucking155 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my experience having all the necessary paperwork before driving down the road is a necessity for me. I’ve talked to so many people at weigh stations and truck stops that are hotshot and 9 out of 10 non cdl have the most issues with DOT. As long as you’re don’t get moving violations and into wrecks company’s will hire you.
