Faulting Animation

Faults are the point between two formations where observable movement has occurred. These can be active (still moving) or inactive (finished moving a long time ago). Oil reservoirs need impermeable cap rock above them to hold in the hydrocarbons. Faults can bring these impermeable formations into contact with the oil and gas, thus creating a reservoir.

• Drilling mud is pumped down into the well in order to hold back formation pressures, provide lubrication to the bit and carry the drilled cuttings back to the surface. when we drill for Oil or Gas, large Hole are created in the subsoil and in some cases the well is filled with water, it makes no sense the subsoil becomes unstable and a sink hole is created which is not without reason we use Oil in Oil Pressure systems and not water.
