Dang, why didn’t I think of Rodico for holding springs in place during removal? So obvious once you see it. I’ve been pinning them down with pegwood or a plastic tool, but have been thinking there had to be a better way. Duh. It’s sitting right there on the desk 😆.

Just wanted to let you know that not only are you my favorite watch repair channel but you have renewed my love for mechanical things and watch movements in particular. Since I was a child of probably 2 or 3 years old I saw my uncles Rolex with the back taken off and I saw that movement and I was immediately hooked. Of course life got in the way and three daughters later I’m just now starting to be able to get back into this stuff. But I have over the last two months, taken apart every watch and clock in my house LOL. Just thought I had to let you know that you have rekindled the fire in me to want to work on these beautiful pieces of art. I just hope to one day win one of these giveaways so I can have a watch with a great story to hand down to my girls. 😊

Just stated watching your channel. Great work. Have a question for you. I have an old Soviet Raketa watch ( most likely 2603 movement) that my grandpa wore for a long time. He bought it in the 50s. Don’t know the service history or whether it has even been serviced before, but it still ticks. It’s not an expensive watch and similar ones sell on eBay sell for $20-30 but it has a significant sentimental value to me since I was very close to my grandpa. Unfortunately, my grandma passed away approximately 20 years ago and this watch has been sitting in a cabinet until it was recently discovered by my mom. There are no videos on TH-cam on this movement but there are videos on a similar 2602 movement. Do you do repairs for others? If so, what would be the process and costs of sending it to you for a service? Thanks again. You’re awesome!

I think you're right about the amplitude being related to cost to install, and I think there's also a return/failure tolerance consideration too. I sometimes wonder if that's why there are so many ladies hi-beat movements - the physical forces in the smaller movements being lesser than in larger counterparts. Well done on reminding me about Mike's shop too. My order is now on the way 😁

Any decent mechanical watch would be a good give-away. It might introduce people to the joy of a watch with no battery.

Every time I wind a seiko mainspring up in my winder and reverse the rotation to unhook it from the winder it bird nests, do you have any pointers for this?

Since you seem to like working on "special" watches would you be interested in my Seiko Sea Lion M88? I wore this watch during combat operations in Vietnam in 1967. The watch runs but will stop if not constantly in motion. Probably not.

Sir , !!!! I truly appreciate that you DO NOT FEEL the need to fill EVERY BIT of video with verbal........ There are others who do ................. I very much appreciate that you explain what the parts are called as it helps me to learn what they do . . . . ;)) In spite of each watch being a huge puzzle , keeping track of all those pieces and where they must go back .... in the correct order and even down to the proper bolt that holds every thing . . . You have a. huge gift ! I simply do not have the patience or steady hands for this ..... however ! I love being along for the ride ;)

I would think that any Bulova mechanical watch would be a good giveaway. There should be a lot of them around that need work

I think you have some of the best overall quality videos out there. Lighting is even and plenty of close up shots. New overhead shots look great to me. Excellent job all around!
