    Not wise to take off your PAS and reclip without any backup, I understand you had a good footing, but bad if it becomes a habit.

      Thanks for your comment. I was trying to think why I used a lanyard (pas) on the first set up and not the next and then it came to me. The first I’m below the bolts and so, if I forget to disconnect my lanyard I’ll just get snagged and if I fell I would take more of a slump (less than a fall factor 1). In the second set up I’m at the top with the bolts, in this case near the edge if I clip in with a lanyard in this situation and forget to disconnect when I’m finished I will snag as the lanyards are often short and might actually fall forwards off the cliff. Probable not taking a fall factor 2 fall in this situation, although it’s possible, but still pretty nasty. Don’t forget to disconnect I hear you say. Climbing is full of “don’t” and they often happen 😊 Use of lanyard, be it a static sling, dynamic cord or PAS have there advantageous and disadvantages. Thanks for your comment, I’ll see if I can make a short video about the pro and cons of each type of lanyard or tether or PAS whatever you want to call it 😊

    What are those cords slings you used? Edelrid, by any chance?

      Hi, Thanks for your comment. It’s made by Beal. It’s a bit bulky to rack on the harness, but tolerates way more than a skinny sling.

      @@aaronm9353yes it’s a dynaloop 8.3mm. The blue is 120cm while the red is a 150cm, which is quite awkward to rack.

    Hi! Love your videos. I'm watching them all now. I just wanted to let you know that your recent videos are set for "youtube kids" and as such many people won't be able to find it, and no comments can be posted either.

    • @alpinedragons6847
      @alpinedragons6847 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment. I didn’t realise the setting was on kids only. I’ve adjusted it now. I think the comments are set to that they need reviewing or an algorithm decides if they should be posted or not. I’ll look into that as well. I’ve been trying to create a series about mindfulness and decision making in avalanche terrain. It’s an ongoing process. Jamie

    Hi Jamie! and thanks for this video. I notice you have the whole Grivel classic crampons range and I am very curious about that second model. The one with the 12 shorter spikes and a particular configuration (air tech). I would be very happy to hear what you think about that model and why would you choose it over the G10 and the G12 (or why not). Perhaps which scenario would be that the best (or worst). It is quite difficult to find a proper first hand opinion as well as one without some kind of marketing intentions (although first hand).

    • @alpinedragons6847
      @alpinedragons6847 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gustav! From what I can see the Grivel Airtech have shorter spikes, especially the front points compared to the classic G12, and therefore are better for snow and rock, rather than the G12 which excel on snow and ice. I have probable climbed the most on mixed terrain with the air tech and G12, not to a high standard however. I have used the air tech most the last few years on mountaineering days when I will find snow and rock and maybe some easy ice. with steeper and more compact ice I would prefer the G12 as they have longer front points (mine anyway). If it was technical ice then I would use more aggressive crampons (mono points for me). To be honest I think I bought the Airtech in a sale in chamonix thinking they were G12, but haven't ever regretted buying them :)
